Research about content of heavy metals in various fish species have been done in Batang Toru River, Aek Pahu Tombak and Aek Pahu Hutamosu district South Tapanuli in March-April 2013. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of heavy metals that accumulate in the body of fish and the water, and to determine the water quality of River Batang Toru, Aek Pahu Tombak and Aek Pahu Hutamosu. The method for determining the location of sampling for fish sample is "Purposive Random Sampling" in 6 (six) observation stations. Analysis of heavy metal analyzed on fish meat and water using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric (AAS). The results showed that the content of heavy metal in fish body didn’t exceeded the quality standard by SNI/7387/2009. Content of heavy metals accumulated in the water didn’t exceeded the quality standard based on Regulation No.82 of 2001. Aek Pahu Tombak River has a very good quality of water but Batang Toru River and Aek Pahu Hutamosu have a good quality of water. 117030042

Fiber Plastic Composite (FPC) is one of biocomposite products consists of fiber lignocellulosic materials as filler and plastic as adhesive. In this research, FPC made from recycle polypropilene and old corrugated paper fibre. The purpose of this research were to evaluate durability the physical properties, measure weight loss and intensity of the attacks in marine borer after being soaked for six months in the harbour of Belawan. This research use completely randomized factorial design, 2 factors: compositions polyprophylene and fiber (50:50, 60:40 and 70:30) and type of plastic (recycled once and recycled more than once). The results compare with JIS A 5905-2003 hardboard S20, JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type 13 and SNI 01-7207-2006. The results showed that the physical properties of FPC fulfill standard JIS A 5905-2003 hardboard S20 and JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type 13 after being soaked in the sea for six months except moisture content. Even so, the moisture content for PP 70:30 (recycled once and recycled more than once) still fulfill JIS A 5905-2003 hardboard S20 and JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type 13. Moreover, the resistance FPC of against marine borer attack (weight loss and intensity of the attacks) fulfill SNI 01-7207-2006. The results showed that all FPC were attacked by marine borer. The specimen were attacked derive from Pholadidae. 091201092

The Diversity and Distribution of Fish in Aquatic Estuary Belawan in North Sumatra” has been studied. Four sampling stations are settled through purposive random with 30 replication for each station. There are 18 genera of fishes classfiying into 18 families found in the study site. The highest diversity is reconded from the first location with the number 0,429 ind/m2, while the lowest diversity is from the third location with the number 0,226 ind/m2. The highest diversity is 2,705 form first location, while the lowest diversity is from four the location with the number 2,342. Generally, the value of the diversity of fishes is categorized as moderate and fish distribution is categorized as random. Physical and chemical parameters of water (current velocity, phosphate, the fraction of dust clay) evidently correlated with the fish diversity. 117030009

Coral fish is the greatest part of and conspicuous organism found in coral reef. Coral transplantation is believed to be able to return its function as the ecosystem which is needed by fish. So far, there has been no report which is related to the comparison of coral fish composition in Rubiah Island between the ecosystem of natural coral reef area and transplantation area. The research was conducted in August, 2014. The objective of the research was to find out the comparison between the coral reef covering area and fish composition and to analyze the influence of coral transplantation area and natural coral reef area in Rubiah Island. The research used purposive random sampling technique at two stations (the West side and the East side of Rubiah Island) with a depth of six meters. Coral reef monitoring conducted by the line intercept trancect method while for observation of coral reef fish made by visual census method. The result of the research showed that the number of fish which had been taken census was 46 species of 17 families with the specification of 44 types in the natural area and 22 types in the transplantation area. It was also found that the percentage of the life coral covering of the natural area was higher (48.16%) than transplantation area (9.86%). Mortality index of the transplantation area was 0.74 and the natural area was 0.38. Fish variety index in the transplantation area was 0.36 and in the natural area was 0.58. Fish domination index in the transplantation area was 0.6 and in the natural area was 0.29. Coefficient regression reached to 0.829456. The activity of coral transplantation in the territorial waters of Rubiah Island failed, the coral cover area was in bad category, but there was still strong influence of the covering area of life corals on the composition of coral fish which was indicated by the increase in fish variety index, either in coral transplantation area or in the natural coral reef area in the territorial waters of Rubiah Island. 127030026

Nowadays the ecosystem of Sibiru-biru river area was decreased, was shown from decreasing fish found in that area. A study of fish diversity of Sibiru-biru river has been done through sampling. Sampling design was based on Purpossive Random Sampling, with four disticnt stations in terms of community activities and coastal areas. Sampling was done in thirty repetitions for each stations. The results showed that there were two orders of fish, four families, six genera and seven species. The highest density of fish was from station 4 with density of 0.072 ind/m2 while being the lowest from station 1 with density of 0.048 ind/m2. The highest diversity index was from station 4 with value of 1.36 while being the lowest from station 3 with value of 1.04. Species found in this research were Oreochromis niloticus, Hampala macrolepidota, Mystacoleucus marginatus, Tor soro, Tor tambroides, Channa striata, and Oxyeleotris marmorata. Velocity, light penetration and light intensity was strongly correlated with the diversity of fishes. 090805032

Shrimp paste is one kind of fermented fish or shrimp that only have salting treatment and then left for several days in order to allow fermentation process happened. This research was purposed to test the composition of shrimp paste using shrimp paste molder and the shrimp paste quality produced. This research was starting from August until September 2015 in Agriculture Engineering Laboratory Univesity of North Sumatera, Biochemistry Laboratory of Mathematics and Basic Science Faculty, and Microbiology Laboratory of Mathematics and Basic Science Faculty Univesity of North Sumatera. Parameters observed were percentage of remained material inside equipment, acid insoluble ash content, protein content, number of E.coli, water content, and organoleptic tests. The results showed that the combination of shrimp paste raw material had significant effect on percentage of remained material inside equipment, acid insoluble ash content, water content, and organoleptics test but had no significant effect on protein content and number of E.coli. Salt ratio had significant effect on percentage of remained material inside equipment, acid insoluble ash content, water content, and organoleptics test but had no significant effect on protein content and number of E.coli 110308035
