The paper in particular focuses on the internationalisation of the Management Information Systems (MIS) module and the identification of learning differences among the two dominant cultural groups in higher education in the UK: Asian and European students. The identification of differences among knowledge patterns of these cultural groups is achieved through the application of a concept mapping technique. The research question addressed is: How can we internationalise the MIS module's content and teaching methods to provide for students from different cultural backgrounds.

The econometric specification accounts for the censored nature of the data, which arises from no participation and infrequency of purchases, and the existence of unobserved heterogeneity, which arises from the non observability of health stata. Our evidence suggests that ignoring these features can have a significant impact on the size, sign and significance of the model estimates. The estimates for the participation and consumption processes also suggest that the deduction of expenditures on health care currently applicable in the Spanish tax system are positively associated to income and fertility. Financial support from Merck through the Centre de Recerca d’Economia i Salut is thankfully acknowledged.

A potential solution to this problem is games for social change, which focus on supporting young adults’ digital literacy skills in general and their skills in identifying fake news in a social media context in particular. A game for social change (GoViral!) was designed to fight the spread of misinformation in the context of COVID-19. The game exposes the user to manipulation techniques used in misinformation. There is an ongoing debate about the extent to which misinformation interventions negatively influence people’s assessments of real news. Findings in the literature are ambiguous. Following a study with an English, French, and German-speaking population (Basol et al., 2021), this replication study used an experimental pre-test and post-test design to evaluate the effectiveness of the GoViral! game with a Greek-speaking sample of undergraduate students. Results showed that people who played GoViral! rated misinformation about COVID-19 as significantly more manipulative after gameplay for two out of three fake posts and rated real information as less manipulative for two out of three real posts. Findings are inconclusive, indicating the need for further studies. The study’s findings suggest that players need the most support in identifying the manipulation technique of fake experts in social media. Findings furthermore indicate that interventions aimed at increasing trust in reliable news sources are needed.

Kassianos; Andrew T. Gloster; Maria Karekla;Abstract Background The negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic on public mental health can be persistent and substantial over a long period of time, but little is known regarding what psychological factors or processes can buffer such impact. The present study aimed to examine the mediating roles of coping, psychological flexibility and prosociality in the impacts of perceived illness threats toward COVID-19 on mental health. Method Five-hundred and fourteen Hong Kong citizens (18 years or above) completed an online survey to measure illness perceptions toward COVID-19, coping, psychological flexibility, prosociality, and mental health, together with their socio-demographic variables. Structural equation modelling was used to explore the explanatory model that was the best-fit to illustrate the relationships between these constructs. Results Serial mediation structural equation model showed that only psychological flexibility (unstandardised beta coefficient, β = − 0.12, 95% CI [− 0.20, − 0.02], p = 0.031) and prosociality (unstandardised β = 0.04, 95% CI [0.01, 0.08], p = 0.001) fully mediated the relationship between illness perceptions toward COVID-19 and mental health. In addition, psychological flexibility exerted a direct effect on prosociality (standardised β = 0.22, 95% CI [0.12, 0.32], p < 0.001). This best-fit model explained 62% of the variance of mental health. Conclusions Fostering psychological flexibility and prosocial behaviour may play significant roles in mitigating the adverse effects of COVID-19 and its perceived threats on public mental health.

Often, the process of generating energy is associated with a certain risk to personnel and the public when using various types of fuel, often with fire hazardous properties. For each fire damaging factor, for example, for thermal radiation, toxicity of combustion products, smoke, and elevated temperature, the probability of human injury can be calculated. In this paper, the probability of a person being damaged by thermal radiation in a fire spilling a fuel-air mixture is calculated. A spill fire begins by igniting the vapors of spilled hydrocarbon fuel on an open surface. The calculation was carried out according to three methods, one of which takes into account the movement of a person away from the epicenter of the fire. The dependence of the heat flux density on the distance from the center of the fire is given. Based on calculations of the safe distance from the center of the fire and the values of thermal radiation using the Matlab software environment, the optimal method for determining the probability of human injury in case of a fire spill of an oil product was selected, and it was also concluded that it can be used in case of using high-energy fuel.
