    Du 18 mars au 02 avril 2017 s’est déroulée la mission PUFFAlis à bord du navire océanographique Alis de l’IRD. Cette campagne s’inscrit dans la continuité d’expéditions océanographiques centrées sur les zones d’alimentation des oiseaux marins, effectuées précédemment en mer (MOMAlis) comme à terre sur la colonie de puffins de Gouaro Deva. Elle est aussi la prolongation des campagnes NECTAlis destinées à étudier la chaîne trophique océanique qui conduit aux thons. Six scientifiques ont embarqué pour échantillonner les différents niveaux de la chaîne trophique océanique du bassin de Nouvelle-Calédonie au large de Pindaï. En milieu de mission, une journée a été consacrée à la communication avec les lycéens de Pouembout et les services de l’environnement et des pêches de la Province nord. Le journal de bord de la mission est précédé du communiqué de presse diffusé à cette occasion. From March 18 to April 2, 2017, the PUFFAlis expedition took place aboard research vessel Alis of IRD. This campaign was a continuation of previous oceanographic expeditions concerned with the feeding areas of seabirds (MOMAlis) as well as on land on the Gouaro Deva shearwater colony. It was also the extension of the NECTAlis campaigns that were dedicated at studying the oceanic trophic chain that leads to tunas. Six scientists embarked to sample the different levels of the oceanic trophic chain of the New Caledonia basin off Pindai. In the middle of the expedition, a day was devoted to communicating with the high school students of Pouembout and the services of the environment and fisheries of the Northern Province. The expedition’s logbook is preceded by the press release issued on this occasion.

    Authors: Lacombe, Marielle;

    La réalisation d'observatoires biogéochimiques autonomes pour l'étude de la colonne d'eau dans l'océan ouvert et des écosystèmes chimiosynthétiques profonds est une étape primordiale dans l'acquisition de données océaniques pour une meilleure compréhension des écosystèmes. Nous nous intéressons ici à l'acide silicique et aux ions sulfure, composés clés de la chaîne alimentaire marine. Nous proposons une méthode de mesure voltammétrique des ions sulfure sur électrode d'argent ainsi qu'une mesure originale sans calibration basée sur la différence de solubilité entre le chlorure d'argent et le sulfure d'argent. Uneméthode d'analyse de l'acide silicique autonome en réactifs est développée grâce aux molybdates et aux protons libérés lors de l'oxydation du molybdène. Ces développements analytiques ont permis de participer à la validation d'un potentiostat immergeable autonome, premier pas vers un capteur pour la mesure de ces paramètres in situ. En parallèle une analyse des masses d'eau du Passage de Drake est réalisée grâce aux données hydrographiques collectées pendant la campagne Drake ANT XXIII/3 en 2006. The implementation of in situ autonomous observatories for biogeochemicalstudies in the open ocean water column and in deep-sea chemosynthetic environments is crucial for the understanding of these ecosystems. We focussed this study on silicate and sulphide, two key compounds of the marine food chain. A voltammetric method for sulphide measurements on silver electrode is presented, and a new method for quantitative determination based on the solubility difference between silver chloride and silver sulphide is proposed. A completely reagentless method for silicate measurements is developed using molybdate and protons produced during molybdenum oxidation. These analyticaldevelopments allowed us to validate a submersible potentiostat, first step toward a new sensor for in situ measurements. A Drake Passage water masses analysis is also performed using data collected during the Drake ANTIII/3 oceanographic cruise in 2006.
