Important representatives of these vertical industries are directly involved as partners of 5G-EVE exactly to influence the design of the end-to-end 5G services, and to provide an early assessment. The 5G-EVE end-to-end facility consists of the interconnection of four 5G-site-facilities (France, Spain, Italy, Greece), which have been selected because of their considerable previous work with vertical industries and standardisation bodies, on top of their 5G technology competences. 5G-EVE aims at creating synergies between a significant number of facilities that will ensure sustainability and impact in terms of exploitation. The 5G-EVE facility will enable experiments with: (a) heterogeneous access, including NR, licensed/unlicensed spectrum, advanced spectrum management; (b) Mobile Edge Computing, backhaul, core/service technologies; (c) means for site-interworking and multi-site/domain/technology slicing/orchestration. 5G-EVE will be initially compliant with 3GPP Rel. 15 and, later on, with Rel. 16. Industrial verticals will be facilitated in the specification/analysis of experiments through: (a) intent-based, and other high-level, interfaces; (b) means for advanced 5G testing, i.e., for KPI analysis, technology benchmarking, performance diagnosis. A VNF pool, including open source and proprietary, radio/network/service, components will be developed and made available. 5G-EVE will impact standards, and has the potential and strategy for ensuring the sustainability of the facility beyond the project lifetime, therefore becoming a cornerstone of the 5G PPP programme and beyond.

It aims to prove and validate that 5G provides prominent industry verticals with ubiquitous access to a wide range of forward-looking services with orders of magnitude of improvement over 4G, thus bringing the 5G vision closer to realisation. This will be achieved through conducting advanced field-trials of innovative use cases, directly involving end-users across five significant industry vertical domains: Factories of the Future, Smart Energy, Smart Cities, Smart Ports, Media & Entertainment. In particular, 5G-SOLUTIONS will provide: (a) validation of more than 140 KPIs for 20 innovative and heterogeneous use cases that require 5G performance capabilities and that are expected to have a high future commercialisation potential. These use cases will be field trialled separately as well as concurrently with real end-user actors through ICT-17’s 5G-EVE and 5G-VINNI facilities, thus validating their conformance to target 5G KPIs specified for each use case, as well as their business potential, ethical and social acceptance; (b) technological enablers for facilitating the execution of the field trials in an automated way, including (i) a unified cross-domain service orchestrator enabling multi-domain slicing and 5G service lifecycle automation, (ii) an innovative smart KPI visualisation system for facilitating the near real-time analysis, presentation, benchmarking and performance validation of reference 5G network KPIs against pre-defined target values, (iii) intent-based APIs for stimulating innovation and fostering the development, portability and provisioning of new innovative applications by SMEs. Our 26-partner consortium is driven by industry heavyweights from EU telecom and vertical industries and renowned research organisations, the majority of which participate in 24 out of the 43 5G-PPP projects and in several 5G-PPP Working Groups.

Z O.O.,NOVA SMSAFunder: European Commission Project Code: 101189589Overall Budget: 27,873,200 EURFunder Contribution: 23,140,100 EURO-CEI overarching goal is to pilot the imperative of accelerating the uptake and upscaling of innovative Cloud-Edge-IoT solutions, strengthening Europe’s competitiveness and open strategic autonomy by orchestrating cross-domain data sharing, minimising energy footprint, stimulating multi-sided marketplaces, and promoting open standards for virtualisation and interoperability. For doing so, O-CEI will feed with such innovative technologies, and a comprehensive framework, to eight multidimensional real-world pilots framed in key strategic sectors: electricity grid, electromobility, software-defined vehicles, agrifood and agriculture, logistics and urban environments. It will swiftly create and implement innovative solutions across the cloud continuum; and effectively address the needs of existing and emerging individual and cross-sector business value chains. By designing blueprints and providing utilities beyond the SotA, O-CEI will help project stakeholders (and 32 Open Call awardees) to achieve challenging objectives. All pilots are formed by technical and stakeholder actors covering the necessary value chains, having an outstanding cross-domain unifying thread: energy flexibility.
