The important task of finding the right framework and right solutions to recognize prior learning outcomes resulted from everyday life experience, work environments and numerous social practices became a priority task in integrating HE and LLL.HEIs in Poland are currently in the stage of intense search for their own strategies and solutions when it comes to integrating LLL and RPL. Erasmus+ creates possibilities of learning from the experiences of more advanced partner institutions in EU, analysing their policies and strategies and build its own systems and tools of RPL while allowing European partners critical view of their own practices through action research process and the exchange of their experiences in the field. EDUPRO project was responding to the need of: widening participation in education for adult learners ( over 25 years old), promote and validate learning in non-formal and informal learning settings (i. e. workplace learning), create new curriculum and educational programmes for learners without prior academic experiences. Added value of the project was the involvement of other stakeholders (employers, local government, NGO’s) in the process of shaping key competences and skills essential for the market, local communities and active citizenship practices. There were four HEIs involved in the project, all of them experienced in participation in international research projects: DSW (University of Lower Silesia) – non state academic HEI established in 1997 in Wroclaw, Poland. University of Algarve, Portugal - HEI well known for its reach network of international cooperation and strong ties with local stakeholders. University of Warwick (UK) – one of the biggest and most prominent HEI in Great Britain with reach offer in LLL. University of Gdansk – one of the top state founded HEIs in Poland.Activities within the project led to create and test best practices and solutions (organizational, institutional, procedural and staff related) in LLL and RPL based on more advanced partners’ experiences, and to analyse current state of the art in RPL in EU based on resources of HEI. Main tasks of the project were: sharing experiences between partners, sharing resources and working materials, comparative studies between institutions as LLL leaders (case studies, action research, documents analysis), experimental implementation of RPL solutions in Poland based on recommendations for Polish practitioners in HEIs, creating an educational offer for learners from non-academic environments (non- traditional learners of all age and background). The outcomes of the project are both intellectual (institutional profiles, recommendation, research report on action research, guidelines for staff, website, papers and articles) as well as promotional and linked with dissemination of the project results (conference, workshops for the stakeholders). Long term results of the project are: raising awareness of LLL significance as a key learning practice through disseminating the outcomes of the project after its finishing, involving every possible open access resources to promote it.Long term results of EDUPRO are focused on HEIs and address the necessity to open up towards new groups of learners with diverse learning experiences, social and cultural capitals as well as new learning resources.

These are designed to facilitate and accelerate institutional transformations in the field of Research and Innovation which will strengthen European Universities collaborations and alliances as lighthouses of European values. CATALISI will analyse how the governance of Higher Education Institutions can be changed, considering the governance as a way in which societal and state actors intentionally interact in order to transform Science Technology and Innovation systems, by regulating issues of societal concern. WP1 will ensure the co-design and implementation of Acting-LL throughout the project. The knowledge and information produced in the WP1 will serve as a basis for the creation of the Knowledge sharing and mutual learning programme in the framework of WP2. The knowledge and information produced in WP1 will also support the activities of WP3 that will guarantee the design, the implementation and the sustainability of the institutional transformations. The whole process will be constantly monitored and assessed through WP4 that will develop monitoring and assessment toolkits to keep track of the progress related to the Institutional Transformations through the adoption of acceleration services, along the 3 Domains defined by CATALISI. WP4 will also provide strategic information and guidance, through policy recommendations about the structural and institutional changes that are needed to maximize the value of research and its impact within the European region.WP5 and WP6 are cross-cutting and linked to all other WPs’ activities (communication and management). CATALISI will be carried out by a consortium integrating 11 partners from 8 EU Member States, covering different geographical areas of Europe, 3 of them from Widening countries.

The Government of Indonesia sees the development of the country in the processing of natural resources and has called in international companies to help to industrialize the country. Industrialization can show success within a few years only with special commitment from the education sector.Based on the needs analysis made in Indonesia by INDOPED project partners, a number of challenges related to higher education have been identified. In most universities teaching still seems to be based on a teacher-centered approach. Students don’t get enough contacts with companies during their studies. Therefore there is a great need to modernize Indonesian pedagogical practices to meet the requirements of working life. The overall aim of the INDOPED project is to raise the teaching capacity of Indonesian University teachers that they will be enabled to bring the Higher Education to the European standard. Teachers should be able to compete in the league of World Class Universities, as Indonesian University rectors have written in their objective agreements with the Indonesian Ministry of HE. The quality of teaching is considered the major factor towards modern and competitive higher education. We see that teachers role should be more like a mentor and facilitator of learning, not a teacher in the traditional meaning. We strongly believe that active University-enterprise cooperation, which gives students more possibilities to enhance their competencies in real working life situations, is a key for more efficient as well as cost-effective higher education. During the INDOPED project we shall test and adjust European active learning practices and embed the most valuable ones into the structures of Indonesian partner universities. Effective dissemination will make the results available for Universities ASEAN wide.

In addition, general distrust of politics has been exacerbated by populist and neo-nationalist political forces that interpret the pluralistic and agnostic nature of democracy as a weakness. These and similar tendencies could have grave consequences through a further erosion of multicultural conviviality and social cohesion in Europe. Nevertheless, populism and political disaffection on a more general level are being met by counter currents of local political activism and an increasing consciousness of the political role of social movements in cities and urban areas. Cities have emerged as vital political arenas for the development of the European public sphere and the promotion of inclusion, social agendas and active citizenship. In addition, different forms of citizen participation have started to transform governance cultures of several large European cities, taking active roles in local elections, and becoming part of local political structures, from Paris to Istanbul. Based on several case studies and pilots of governance innovation initiatives we will investigate the ways in which social movements coupled with local government reform initiatives create momentum for political change that include more inclusive and participatory forms of governance. In EUARENAS we will target the following: 1) the ways in which these practices emerge, the main actors, the strategies, methods and digital platforms they develop to attract attention and how they appropriate urban spaces, 2) economic, political and cultural factors influencing local outcomes, 3) horizontal and vertical governance implications of governance innovations and 4) the added value of solutions (housing, social care, social justice, social diversity, climate change) provided by participatory/deliberative means.
