    Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) research is divided across a wide array of disciplines and languages. While this specialization makes it possible to investigate the extensive variety of SSH topics, it also leads to a fragmentation that prevents SSH research from reaching its full potential. Use and reuse of SSH research is low, interdisciplinary collaboration possibilities are often missed, and as a result, the societal impact is limited. TRIPLE, the European discovery solution, addresses these issues: it enables researchers to discover and reuse SSH data, but also other researchers and projects across disciplinary and language boundaries. It provides all necessary means to build interdisciplinary projects and to develop large-scale scientific missions. It will thus increase the economic and societal impacts of SSH resources. Thanks to a consortium of 19 partners, TRIPLE develops a full multilingual and multicultural solution for the appropriation of SSH resources. The TRIPLE platform provides a 360° discovery experience thanks to linked exploration provided by the Isidore search engine developed by CNRS and a coherent solution providing innovative tools to support research (visualisation, annotation, trust building system, crowdfunding, social network and recommender system). TRIPLE imagines new ways to conduct, connect and discover research; it will promote cultural diversity inside Europe; it will support scientific, industrial and societal applications of SSH science; it will connect researchers and projects with other stakeholders: citizens, policy makers, companies, enabling them to take part in research projects or to answer to some of their issues. TRIPLE will be a dedicated service of OPERAS RI and become a strong service in the EOSC marketplace. To conclude, TRIPLE will help SSH research in Europe to gain visibility, to be more efficient and effective, to improve its reuse within SSH and beyond and to dramatically increase its societal impact.

    PARTHENOS aims at strengthening the cohesion of research in the broad sector of Linguistic Studies, Humanities, Cultural Heritage, History, Archaeology and related fields through a thematic cluster of European Research Infrastructures, integrating initiatives, e-infrastructures and other world-class infrastructures, and building bridges between different, although tightly, interrelated fields. PARTHENOS will achieve this objective through the definition and support of common standards, the coordination of joint activities, the harmonization of policy definition and implementation, and the development of pooled services and of shared solutions to the same problems. PARTHENOS will address and provide common solutions to the definition and implementation of joint policies and solutions for the humanities and linguistic data lifecycle, taking into account the specific needs of the sector that require dedicated design, including provisions for cross-discipline data use and re-use, the implementation of common AAA (authentication, authorization, access) and data curation policies, including long-term preservation; quality criteria and data approval/certification; IPR management, also addressing sensitive data and privacy issues; foresight studies about innovative methods for the humanities; standardization and interoperability; common tools for data-oriented services such as resource discovery, search services, quality assessment of metadata, annotation of sources; communication activities; and joint training activities. Built around the two ERICs of the sector, DARIAH and CLARIN, and involving all the relevant Integrating Activities projects, PARTHENOS will deliver guidelines, standards, methods, services and tools to be used by its partners and by all the research community. It will exploit commonalities and synergies to optimize the use of resources in related domains.

    Collaboration and sharing of resources is critical for research. Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructures (AAIs) play a key role in enabling federated interoperable access to resources. The AARC Technical Revision to Enhance Effectiveness (AARC TREE) project takes the successful and globally recognised “Authentication and Authorisation for Research Collaboration” (AARC) model and its flagship outcome, the AARC Blueprint Architecture (BPA), as the basis to drive the next phase of integration for research infrastructures: expand federated access management to integrate user-centring technologies, expand access to federated data and services (authorisation), consolidating existing capacities and avoiding fragmentation and unnecessary duplication. The main objectives of the AARC TREE project are to: (i) Capture and analyse new Authentication and Authorisation interoperability requirements (as emerging that support integration use-cases across the thematic area) and provide a landscape analysis of AAIs services (including gaps) in the RIs represented in AARC TREE (ii) Define and validate new technical and policy guidelines for the AARC BPA that address RIs use-cases. This will improve the integration of RIs across thematic areas and increase the ability of RIs to support emerging needs (iii) Expand the number of research communities that can implement the AARC BPA and/or the AARC guidelines, by providing a validation environment and toolkits. At the same time support existing AARC communities in adopting new guidelines (iv) Bring RIs, e-Infrastructures and relevant stakeholders together to align strategies to integrate new technologies, better interoperate and share resources across thematic areas and produce a compendium and recommendations for different stakeholders

    The ‘Humanities at Scale’ project will further the DARIAH ERIC’s aim to integrate digitally enabled research in the arts and humanities in Europe and beyond and to operate a platform to enable trans-national arts and humanities research. The project will help DARIAH sustain existing knowledge in digital arts and humanities in Europe and enable new one. DARIAH connects various hubs of excellence in the domain and helps them share their results and innovations. By sharing knowledge, DARIAH works proactively to enhance the reach of digital arts and humanities within the European Research Area (ERA). This proposals aims to address some critical limitations of the current model of sharing knowledge in DARIAH and of connecting the national services in digital arts and humanities initiatives in Europe.

    In support of the development and adoption of ECCCH by Cultural Heritage Professionals and Researchers (CHPR), ECHOLOT will make the creation, provision, and reuse of high-quality, semantically rich, and interoperable Cultural Heritage (CH) data accessible to scholars and institutions, significantly lowering the threshold for joining the collaborative cloud. ECHOLOT will address the fundamental issue that, while ever larger amounts of diverse CH data are available through CH institutions (CHIs), the active reuse of this data especially in research and the creative sectors, is hampered by poor quality and lack of interoperability. It will achieve this by seamlessly integrating as a core service in the ECCCH that enables the quality curation and enrichment of CH data, including multimedia, through AI-enhanced workflows combining automated processing and human input. Moreover, it will natively support embedding rights metadata and chain-of-production provenance, thereby preserving the value and integrity of CH datasets. ECHOLOT will serve as an interoperability hub facilitating the exchange of CH data between systems. It will enable CHPRs to publish simultaneously to aggregators, such as Europeana, and open knowledge platforms from the Wikimedia ecosystem, as well as contribute to ECCCH and Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage (DS4CH). Together, these technical innovations will revolutionise CHPR practices and increase the availability of CH data for reuse and collaboration across institutional and sectoral boundaries. ECHOLOT’s solutions will be validated and tested in five case studies presenting a wide spectrum of CH actors. Maximising the adoption of ECHOLOT and ECCCH will be enabled by social and organisational change measures, including innovative business models co-created with relevant stakeholders. Training resources, interactive workshops and open source software best practices will further support capacity building and long-term sustainability.
