In this project we propose to mobilize the partners' existing networks to draft and test a practice-oriented compendium for use in designing and delivering adult education, both formal and non-formal, to convey these competences.<< Implementation >>We will activate the partners' pan-European networks and use a modified online 'booksprint' method to draft a compendium covering competences, experiences, and some related theories. We will use selected parts of the draft to conduct one test workshop in a HE setting and one in a non-formal adult education setting. We will host work groups/Communities of Practice to elicit best practices.<< Results >>We expect a strong indication of the feasibility (or otherwise) of integrating such transdisciplinary competences into the ESD-oriented adult education programs of both HE institutions and non-formal education organizations. We foresee a full draft that could form the basis for further development and dissemination.

Through our work in a soon-to-be-completed project, 'Transformative Learning', we have become aware not only of the key importance of Transformative Learning in a time of rapid and far-reaching change, but also of the steep increase in demand for online learning opportunities. This trend has accelerated sharply in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Online delivery is particularly challenging in a transformative context because so much hinges on personal qualities that have traditionally been conveyed face-to-face.The transformative quality of adult education will in several ways shape the future of Europe. To the existing critical challenges of climate change, sustainable development, increasing migration, precarity of employment and of food regimes, has been added the abrupt need to face the COVID-19 pandemic and, not least, to discover ways to build a more resilient society in its aftermath. In order to survive and thrive, Europe will need to engage broad swathes of the population in the search for viable transnational transformative solutions. Increasingly, this engagement is understood to encompass online learning opportunities. We have assembled a PARTNER GROUP with broad networks and with unusually long experience in both transformative learning and in online delivery of adult education programs, including the Higher Education sector. We will collate experience with different forms of online delivery in order to explore and conduct brief experiments with different approaches and methods. To this end we will* Bring together/consolidate the work of the partners, and seek out others with similar interests* Explore the opportunities and limitations for TL online, also engaging non-partner networks where appropriate* Publish and publicise our findings - IOs - consisting of a) Guidelines for program design, b) Support for effective delivery of programsWe plan that at least three educators from each partner organization will be actively engaged. Further, each partner will inform and invite its members, member organizations, client base and trainees to participate in one or more of three roles: As a source of input to the IOs, As participant in one or more experiments proposed by the project, As recipient, user and potential disseminator of the results/IOs. In this way we anticipate that at least 100 educators will benefit from the work during the project period. This is an exploratory project which will result in practical materials reflecting current state of the art concerning both design and delivery of online transformative learning events. THE METHODS used are:1. Desk research to collect and collate current best practice. 2. Design and implementation of small experiments to be incorporated into already-planned programs, to assess the potential of specific methods and approaches to enhance the impact of the programs concerned.3. Collaborative synthesis of the outcomes of the research and experimentation into two IOs, one concerned with program design and the other with program delivery.Direct LONG-TERM BENEFITS will accrue to the partners through improved knowledge, competence and skills to design and deliver online programs for transformative learning. Less directly, we expect benefits to other networks and organizations engaged in adult education in the form of better methods and skills; and an emerging catalogue of questions for either academic or action research, which the partners are well placed to make good use of.

BACKGROUND: As knowledge takes the centre stage of our economic growth, learning needs to provide ways for the integration and application of new knowledge into a rapidly changing world, and to help the learners to connect it with their own meaning-making. We believe Transformative Learning can address such gaps. The project´s results provide convincing knowledge about an innovative learning approach that transforms learners perspective on fundamentals of life and their roles. It provides access to theories and methods about “transformative learning” in a competence framework, a training program, a book and a blended learning course in an online learning environment. THE PROJECT’S MAIN OBJECTIVES WERE: *to provide access to deeply engaging and participative learning methodologies *to strengthen the network of practitioners *provide a shared language within the transformative learning approach All objectives were reached both through the process of work during the project (e.g. co-writing of the book with more than 40 authors, meetings/conversations of project partners at the project´s events) and dissemination of the results.PARTICIPANTS: Staff members, learners of the partner organizations and participants in Multiplier Events participated in the project, a total of 324 individuals. Staff and learners are adult education practitioners who have a deep curiosity and passion to innovate in their learning environments towards a more transformative education, e.g.: the teaching of meta-skills, more self-directed learning, approaches that can make the students take an increased responsibility for their own learning and self-construction of meaning. Multiplier Event participants were both adult education practitioners and policy makers. ACTIVITIES:A blend of literature review and expert practitioners interviews provided the foundation for development of a Competences Framework will be created, which lists key factors and skills for a trainer of Transformative Learning. A draft of this framework was presented to an international audience of Transformative Learning practitioners who gave feedback and brainstormed multiple ideal train the trainer curriculum designs during a “Hackathon”. Informed by the Competences Framework and the Hackathon results, the project team designed a curriculum Train the Trainer for our direct intended beneficiaries. The project tested the Train the Trainer curriculum during a kickoff event, and a follow up online learning environment. This ""Transformative Edge Program (TEP)"" was attended by 32 participants curious to learn more about transformative education and apply such learnings to a context relevant for their work. The blended workshop + online learning environment stewarded learners through peer-feedback, reflection exercises and content input. Each participant worked on a tangible curriculum design as a final project, however not all designs could be tested because of corona restrictions.A book ""A transformative edge"" was written in a collaborative process with over 40 co-authors. It was launched at a series of 7 multiplier events, 5 of them online. The book on transformative education includes the Competences Framework, Theories and Methods about TL and guidance to design an own TL event. It was promoted through a social media campaign. RESULTS AND IMPACT:Competences FrameworkTrain the Trainer CurriculumBook ""A Transformative Edge""Online Learning EnvironmentHow-to guide for replicating the collaborative writing process of the book324 participants were impacted directly by participating in the project. More than 32.000 people were reached through the social media campaign. LONGER TERM BENEFITS2 follow up projects are receiving EU-funding and will take the results of this project to the area of online learning and to the target group of underprivileged learners."

Correspondingly, sustainable food consumption become a very popular matter all over the world. Because, sustainable food consumption subject is directly related to economy, health, environment, and sociology. Thus, sustainable food consumption-related topics are involved in many of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. It seems one of the big problems of the future world is to obtain sustainability in the food system. Sustainable consumption of food can be provided by both efficient uses of natural resources and consumers’ increasing consciousness. However, it is difficult to suggest the existence of an accurate mechanism to educate adults in this way. According to our results specifically in the current situation and needs for education analysis report, it is obvious that there is a lack of education and awareness on sustainable consumption of foods. Therefore, it was aimed to assess and change adults’ food consumption behavior in a positive manner in this project. In order to develop an educational system to affect adults’ food consumption behavior; a detailed needs analysis, an accurate measurement tool, some educational materials and activities, and presenting all these together in various platforms were required. This project proposed such a system and consists of several stages. In the first stage, the aim was to exhibit a need for education. It has been done by creating a comprehensive report. Then, a valid, reliable, comprehensive, and inter-cultural index to measure the sustainable consumption of foods was developed. In order to execute the works in these stages extensive research with the experts, adult consumers, and extensive desk research were executed. In the third stage, the sustainable food consumption behaviors of adults were analyzed by using SCOFI which was developed in the previous stage. The results of the index together with the social and demographic variables were used the revealed the clusters of adults on sustainable food consumption. Each cluster was defined in detail and the educational needs were determined. In the meantime, a competence map was developed and provided by considering all partner countries. This map provides various comparisons of different types of adult consumers. In the fourth stage of the project, training materials such as; a book, brochures, booklets, videos, etc. were created. All these materials were presented and disseminated in various multiplier events, seminars/webinars, short-term joint staff event, and social media tools. In the last stage, digital platforms were created and enriched. All the materials that were developed during the project have been embedded into digital platforms. The reports, book, booklets, brochures, the competence map, the SCOFI self-assessment tool, videos, and many other training materials are available on the website and mobile application. In the meantime, the app has been thought to be gamification-based. By doing this it has been aimed to have a more usable and fun mobile app. These all outputs have been carried out to raise the awareness of adults on sustainable consumption of food, to raise the skills and competencies of adults on food consumption, to analyze the educational needs of adults in the frame of sustainable food consumption issue, to create tools for facilitating the understanding of sustainable consumption of food by using training materials. Thus all these aims have been achieved. On the other hand, six Transnational Project Meetings (Kick-Off transnational partners meeting (İzmir, TR), 1st Progress Meeting (Nitra, SL), 2nd Progress Meeting (Stockholm, SV- 3rd Progress Meeting (Aarhus, DA), 4th Progress Meeting (Mugla, TR), 5th Progress Meeting (Izmir, TR) were held successfully during the project. A short-term joint staff learning, teaching, training activity was held with the participant from 9 countries. Also, another internal 5-day seminar was organized for project participants to provide a better understanding of preparing effective training materials and tools. Many dissemination activities such as multiplier events, conferences, webinars, seminars, information stands, an international video contest, international indexed scientific journal articles, proceedings, etc. were conducted. During these activities, more than 145000 adults were informed and engaged via digital channels, in addition to more than 5000 adults that were contacted face-to-face. Our website was visited by users from 119 countries. Furthermore, at least 120 relevant institutions or organizations from various contexts such as companies, public authorities, international organizations, universities, cooperatives, research centers, public education centers, etc. participated in events.

Many citizens no longer feel attracted by established institutions like political parties, churches or charity organisations; representation by such organisations is seen as only one way of influencing events. Citizens want to directly participate. Therefore new demands have arisen, such as the need of support for individuals starting new initiatives or creating transformation processes. Governments, NGOs and groups of citizens need tools to facilitate approaches to tackle their own issues more effectively. Driven by this outlook, the seven partner organisations Art Monastery Italia (Italy), Plenum (Austria), Legacy17 (Sweden), Biovilla (Portugal), Rogers Foundation (Hungary) and Visionautik Akademie (Germany) work as “Transformation Academies” that empower and enable citizens to tackle the challenges they face. OBJECTIVE: Empower citizens to shape societyIn our experience one of the biggest obstacles to contributing to positive social change has shown to be the lack of confidence in individuals and groups that they are able to effectuate change. As they are the ones who are experiencing the brunt of the problems it is most impactful if the solutions come from them. Therefore our project focuses on empowering citizens to take action and improve their own circumstances. Empowerment is one of the three pillars of social innovation, alongside “meeting human needs” and “changing social relations”. PARTICIPANTS: With this project we will empower citizens in two target groups:-We'll empower vulnerable people suffering from pressing problems like poverty, marginalization, stigma or exclusion. We will enable and encourage them to improve their situations and thus give power to one of our basic beliefs: ""Everyone has the right to shape the world with joy and ease."" We aim to reach 20.000 of these individuals (such as refugees, the ethnic minorities, unemployed or homeless, those with chronic illnesses or other disabilities) over the course of the project.-We will also empower group leaders, facilitators and social innovators who are important drivers for change. Empowered leaders can do better work for the common good without burning out and are good inspirations and role models. We will provide them with empowering facilitation methods they can use in their work. We aim to reach 30.000 of these leaders over the course of the project. They, in turn, have the potential to impact many thousands more. ACTIVITIES: Empowerment products for supportWe will create five products that will be available for free to everyone and actively promote them to the above mentioned groups and to the general public: 1. Hosting Empowerment Guidebook will act as a resource and support to social workers, facilitators, teachers, and anyone who works with disadvantaged groups2. App for empowerment with playful and experiential content3. Self-empowerment workbook that can be self-paced or experienced in groups, available in nine languages4. Toolbox for facilitators: a collection of 50 new empowerment methods added to an existing database on facilitation methods5. Short film to inspire, uplift and empower We will disseminate our approach and our empowering products with 10 events in our partners' countries. They will each last one day and serve more than 300 facilitators or inspirational leaders in the field of lifelong learning. METHODOLOGYTo carry out our project we use, amongst other procedures, the Human Centered Design Approach. This method allows us to carefully integrate the needs, wants and limitations of our target groups and make sure our products unfold their maximum potential to serve and empower the users. IMPACT: The expected results of three years of empowering activities are:• 100-200 facilitators and multipliers reach our database every day, about 10 of them per day actively make use of our empowerment toolbox• At least 1500 people will be empowered through the app • More than 9.000 people will benefit from the self-empowerment workbook, available online in 9 languages• 10.000 viewers get inspired and encouraged by a short film• More than 300 multipliers attend 10 empowering events where they acquire tools which they can use to empower approximately 4.000 people they work with Altogether we expect more than 50.000 people to have heard about empowering methods and know what they can do to become more empowered, or where they can turn to find support. At least 4.000 of them have a self-perception as changemakers, follow a purpose, feel supported by their community and activate their potential for being active in tackling pressing problems. The overall result of our project is empowered citizens who dare to tackle the pressing issues they perceive. The long term benefit will be a Europe full of active citizens shaping their own lives and surroundings."
