EurAsian Social ActiveNation (EUASAN) aimed to foster trans-continental cooperation in community development (CD) between countries and organizations of Europe (Greece, Spain, Hungary) and Asia (India, Vietnam). The main aim was to enhance the quality of youth work’s impact on local communities in a measurable way in order to fight discrimination, exclusion, poverty and unemployment by using non formal education, sport and physical activity as a tool. We have chosen Education through Sport (ETS) methods as the combination of sport and learning provides and excellent opportunity to learn through activities that are enjoyable, highly emotional and based on active participation and involvement. It’s a natural way, a learning that even brings people close to each other. It’s full of fun and passion and with right planning and methodology it results in powerful learning outcomes for youth workers and leaders. In EUASAN we used the educational aspect of sport from pedagogical prospective to foster non formal learning practice and in it’s context provoke a positive social change. It’s part of the life-long learning process that aims to improve knowledge, attitude and skills of participants while fostering active citizenship and social transformation in the communities it may be applied in.During the project we trained youth workers to become trainers in NFE and in the field of Education through Sport and teach them how to apply it's methods in their various work area with communities (be it rural, marginalized, with fewer opportunities etc.). An e-toolkit has ensured dissemination and offered the possibility for other organizations to use it for their benefit even if they have no experience in NFE and ETS field. The website Euasan.org hosted the activities during the project cycle and it will offer information for three more years As an outcome, EUASAN project established EurAsian transnational long term cooperation and build up a network between Europe and Asia. This network will enhance intercultural learning, knowledge transfer, mobility and youth empowerment that will collect and disseminate information to other organizations interested in youth work field/education and cultural cooperation possibilities between these two regions. Activities implemented during the project:Kick off Meeting (GREECE, AENAO)Training Course I (INDIA, DISHA ) “Development & leadership for community development”. """Growing Green"" is a partnership between partner organizations in Denmark, Nepal, Myanmar and Vietnam. The project addresses the need of bringing non-formal education in line with the current global challenges and mainstream Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education as a new core element. A UN report shows that there were at least 74 million young people unemployed in 2015. A further report identifies that temperatures in 2015 have been about 1 degree Celsius above the pre-industrial era, an effect caused by a human-induced global warming. With entrepreneurship being promoting as a tool to fight unemployment, the partners have agreed to be essential that this generation of young entrepreneurs are not only educated in creating financially successful enterprises, but also sustainable enterprises that utilise the worlds natural and human resources responsibly. However, from their research, the partners identified that the concept of Sustainable Entrepreneurship, besides of being relatively new, Education is only slowly evolving with academia and within higher education, being hardly present in the non-formal education with youth. The project entails 6 capacity building activities and one mobility of youth workers. Throughout the project, the partners will create a guide in Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education (SEE), train 70 trainers in SEE in the partners' countries, reach about 275 young people and more than 2000 stakeholders. The guide developed will consists of four parts: 1. factsheets upon local and global implications of unsustainable entrepreneurship, 2. at least 10 non-formal methods in Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education, such as simulations and role plays, 3. Examples of sustainable enterprises created by young people and not only, and 4. A further reading list. Overall, the partner organizations will strengthen their capacity to provide Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education, enhance their international network, renew their educational packages and strengthen the recognition of learning activities they provide, while non-formal education will be revitalized and new forms of youth work will be stimulated."

The current socio-economic and political system faces numerous interrelated crises, as financial and economic crises, conflicts and military attacks, environmental destructions and international political changes. These have resulted in growing fear and inequality which corrode European values of solidarity, democracy, and social justice and reduce their appeal.Reality has come to question the efficiency of the current systems, opening political and philosophical discussions about their limitations and imperfections. Education is a crucial factor for introducing this new problematic and widening its outreach. Given the confined context of formal education, non-formal learning and youth work, in particular, has a crucial role to play for promoting this discourse. STEP Forward (Sustainable and Transformative Education for Participation in democratic life) is a 18-months Capacity Building project including organizations from Greece, Spain, Vietnam, Kenya, Ghana and Peru. It links active citizenship to formal education by drawing attention to the values of sustainability and integrating them to non-formal education activities. It aims at promoting the application of active and participatory education through experiential activities and solution-oriented educational approach. By exploring alternative community models, social and ecological initiatives the project will use information and resources to design a new educational method with the scope to integrate the values of sustainability and active citizenship in the formal education system. The specific objectives of the STEP project are: - Introducing an inclusive definition of Sustainability;- Raising awareness about social and environmental initiatives; alternative economic models; new forms of cooperation and civic participation to youth;- Cultivating and promoting transformative, experiential and non-formal learning and its specific applications;- Fostering critical thinking and democratic education. In order to achieve the project’s objectives the foreseen activities include 1 Training Course on Sustainability and Community Building; 6 Job Shadowing activities, the design of a Training module which will incorporate issues of democracy, civic participation and sustainability in a non-formal education format combining experiences from Europe, Africa and Latin America; 1 Training Course in the form of a Winter School to present and apply the module to youth workers and other professionals of the education sector, and 7 local events for the promotion of the module to the local communities. Target Groups: Educators, youth workers, researchers, project managers, youth organisations, young people, local communities and the EU.
