In addition, the intimately related textiles and clothing sectors that play a significant role in the European manufacturing industry, employ 1.7 million people and generate a turnover of EUR 166 billion. EU exports to the rest of the world represent more than 30% of the world market, reaching a turnover of 50 billion in 2019, while the EU Single Market is also one of the most important in terms of size, quality and design. At the same time, older age groups of workers indicate the existence of training needs for new skills and knowledge. The project combines a mixture of partners that allow for interactions and exchanges between VET providers of different levels and industry representatives. The flow of cooperation between these diverse actors is established by two main pillars: a) a common understanding and agreement on future shared strategies and activities, and b) facilitated actions via an online networking platform for initiating and maintaining collaborations and learners’ mobility. In this direction, the project aims at the creation of a network of regional Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) composed by:- VET providers;- Industry representatives (Chambers, Associations, companies, business support organizations etc.);CoVEs will cooperate both at regional and at international level in order to:- Identify needed skills from the fashion industry in the next future;- Develop new and modify the existing training programs accordingly;- Make a career in the fashion industry more appealing for young people;- Contribute to the development of greener and more sustainable economic models in the fashion and design sector.
