European materials industry is considered a key enabler for industrial development and the EU has a historically strategic position in this sector. However, there is a low uptake in European materials industry for digital technologies. Hereby, it is crucial to provide all stakeholders of the EU with advanced digital technologies to evolve towards an agile European materials industry with intelligent enterprises that maximise and integrate the utility of digital materials sciences knowledge. DiMAT will develop Open Digital Tools with a set of advanced technologies for offering European SMEs and Mid-Caps an affordable (in terms of cost, implementation and usability) full modelling, simulation and optimisation system in each stage of the material value chain (design, processing and manufacturing) for improving quality, sustainability, effectiveness, and competitiveness of materials. DiMAT will deploy 3 integrated Suites: 1) DiMAT Data and Assessment Suite: digital technologies for storing, sharing, representing and assessing materials data; 2) DiMAT DiMAT Modelling and Design Suite: digital technologies for material design, in terms of their internal structure, properties and performance, in order to predict the material behaviour before manufacturing; 3) DiMAT Simulation and Optimisation Suite: digital technologies for creating efficient materials manufacturing simulation processes and determining the behaviour of the material mechanical characterization models to be used in the AI training and prediction. The DiMAT Suites will be demonstrated in 4 Pilots of European designers and producers of different materials: textile, composite, glass and graphite.

MAYA aims at developing simulation methodologies and multidisciplinary tools for the design, engineering and management of CPS-based (Cyber Physical Systems) Factories, in order to strategically support production-related activities during all the phases of the factory life-cycle, from the integrated design of the product-process- production system, through the optimization of the running factory, till the dismissal/reconfiguration phase. The concurrence and the cross-combination of the Cyber and the Physical dimensions with the Simulation domain is considered as cornerstone in MAYA innovations, to successfully address a new generation of smart factories for future industry responsiveness. MAYA finds complete validation in one of the most competitive, advanced and complex industrial sector in Europe, the automotive, where it will accomplish reduced time to production & reduced time to optimization within two use-cases (Volkswagen and FinnPower). In order to realize such a vision, MAYA addresses actual technological constraints through research and development activities focusing on the following three high level objectives: - MAYA for Digital Continuity; - MAYA for the Synchronization of the Digital and Real Factory; - MAYA for Multidisciplinary integrated simulation and modelling. MAYA’s concept and motivation have been born within the framework set by the Pathfinder initiative, and represent a concrete first step to empower the vision there drafted, and consolidated thanks to the contribution of several academic experts and industrial key-players (http://www.pathfinderproject.eu/contributors.asp).

DORIAN GRAY project investigates the link between cardiovascular disease (CVD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) in the ageing population. Its goal is to uncover underlying mechanisms to promote healthy, independent, and active living while reducing disease burden. Aligned with Horizon Europe’s Strategic Plan on NCDs prevention, the project focuses on two core objectives: designing a multidomain intervention to delay CVD-related MCI progression and developing digital solutions to enhance its adherence. By leveraging large datasets that include omics, brain imaging, lifestyle behaviors, and socio-economic data, the project aims to develop a trustworthy AI tool for predicting MCI. The AI tool will be upgraded into a state-of-the-art framework for modelling and simulation (digital twin), integrating real-world data collected in clinical studies from smartwatches and mobile devices. Including these digital biomarkers enable the early detection of disease and enhance precision in healthcare. The DIGITAL TWIN will inform and update a personalized multidomain intervention using a novel avatar-based coaching exergame, which will serve dual purposes: as a cognitive enhancement tool with structured physical-cognitive tasks and as a lifestyle intervention promoting positive behaviours experienced in the virtual environment. Feasibility will be tested in a pilot randomized controlled trials involving patients with MCI and heart failure, and in an implementation study with patients having MCI and cardiovascular risk factors. To achieve his aim DORIAN GRAY brings together a diverse team of experts, including clinicians, psychologists, sports scientists, computers engineers, AI specialists, stakeholders, entrepreneurs, and academics in ethics, law, and theoretical philosophy. Patients and citizens actively engage in shaping and guiding project decisions. DORIAN GRAY is projected to prevent up to 2 million dementia cases over 27 years, leading to a cost reduction of 485 billion.

Ageing population is growing faster in EU. ICT can provide solutions for Active Ageing, however the success of novel ICT solutions depends on the user perception about their efficacy to support toward health promotion and global wellness. NESTORE will develop an innovative, multi-dimensional, personalized coaching system to support healthy ageing by: 1) Generating and sustaining motivation to take care of health; 2) Suggesting healthy nutrition and personalized physical and mental coach, as well as social interaction, to prevent decline and preserve wellbeing. The main concept is to develop NESTORE as a friend and a coach able to support both the individual and the social dimension. The friend NESTORE understands the emotional status of the user; the coach NESTORE understands the “weaknesses” of the user and proposes actions and activities that improve and maintain wellbeing. Key innovation element in NESTORE is the design of “pathways of interest” able to provide hints and services according to the user’s preferences, while ensuring that the overall wellbeing and health status is maximised. NESTORE leverages on novel ICT technologies: 1) multi-domain unobtrusive monitoring system, including wearable and environmental sensors and tangible objects, 2) intelligent Decision Support System, to analyse the seniors’ behaviour and provide personalized targets toward wellbeing 3) active coaching, developed as conversational agent, embodied in a physical companion that assumes different forms, able to establish affective communication through multimodal communication channels and to engage older people with personalized coaching activities in a single or multiple domains. Methodological strengths of our approach are: 1) co-design research adopted throughout the project 2) thorough system validation with respect to usability, acceptability and effectiveness 3) development of a sustainable ecosystem involving citizens and stakeholders for the co-production of wellness.
