This impacts higher education institutions’ choices with respect to development and design of new and existing Ad-programs. In an attempt to optimally suit the programs to the heterogenous target groups, institutions make different considerations. This study makes these considerations and choices explicit, by a literature study and three case studies, involving Rotterdam Academy, NHL Stenden, and Avans Academie. The study focuses on the way program designs are guided by the heterogenous target population and on choices regarding collaboration with mbo-programs, hbo-bachelor programs, and the industry.

This may have had an impact on the process of orientation towards and integration into the new study programme. Presumably, these restrictions lead to an increased chance of a wrong study choice or less transfer from MBO to HBO. This transition is central to this research. The research focuses on support measures that institutions take to facilitate the intake and progression of students. Which measures are they, what results are they aimed at and what are the effective elements of the measures taken?

What are these measures, what results are they aimed at and what are the effective elements of the measures taken? The role of the NPO funds is included in this. The research takes place in the practice of secondary vocational and higher professional education institutions. The approach consists of design-oriented research in which interventions are designed, implemented and evaluated together with practice partners. The existing questionnaire will also be supplemented.
