<< Background >>The huge amount of written heritage needs some priorities for digitization. Some elements need digitization due to destruction processes, others due to rarity, and still others due to the high demand for reading, etc.The time contains and limited budgets make the situation dramatic and the managers, librarians and archivists have to decide on priorities. There is also another problem, sometimes digitization is applied to items that are not important at all or could wait for later conversion. In middle or small organization, in many situations, there is no enough capacity for such decisions. The project addresses the lack of C-VET training materials in how to prioritize the written heritage artefacts for digitization and how to share the digitized content attractively in the net;<< Objectives >>The main goal of the project is to increase the capacity (knowledge, skills and competencies) of librarians, archivists, collectors and library managers in the sphere of prioritizing the items for digitization and attractive/motivating prevention of the digital artefacts via creating appropriate training materials (Priority Methodology/ Protocol, Competence Framework, online LMS, digital movies etc.) and training tools for the target groups, as well as to train future trainers to ensure sustainability and reproduction of the results. The project will develop products and cooperate partners in the field of continues Vocational Education and Training (additional qualification, out of school training) One of the main goals of the current project is to systematize, integrate and widespread the modern practices, not only among small libraries, but also among VET institutions as a means of renovation of the work methods and resources for educators and learners. The project will also provide online VET resources for LMS with training materials how to prioritize the materials for digitization; Structured as units of learning outcomes and ECVET approach for assessment of achievements of training; Competence framework;. Thus, the link between education and innovation will be established and conventionalized, and the use of ICT will increase the quality and relevance of education and training on a national and European level. This project will facilitate access to additional training and qualifications through continuous VET (C-VET). The digitized learning content, implemented in the Learning Management System (LMS), digital training movies and self-training resources, will empower the target group (librarians/archivists/managers of libraries/VET teachers and trainers) in receiving additional vocational skills (in a life-long learning perspective). The developed LMS will enable and promote the work-place or distant learning, providing an efficient and integrated service in a flexible learning manner. As shown in the context section, the significant number of librarians need additional qualification especially in the digital data maintenance. The resources will be online for a free usage and will be designed in a way to be suitable also for self-learning.<< Implementation >>Project main activities:- project management (inc. monitoring, quality assurance, risk management etc.);- development of the following Project Results:Protocol/Methodology for selecting the materials (setting priorities) for digitization;Competence Framework and Units text development;Approaches for attractive digital representation of the digital content and rising the motivation of young learners;LMS with training materials how to prioritize the materials for digitization; Structured as units of learning outcomes and ECVET approach for assessment of achievements of training; Short digital movies with examples why some item has been selected for digitization and the process,- short-term joint staff training;- piloting activities;- dissemination.<< Results >>Project Priorities in the digitization of books, documents, photos and modern approaches of promoting the digitized materials (DigiPrior)aims to increase the capacity of librarians, managers of small and middle scale libraries and archives in:How to select books, documents, and photos needed priority digitization; How to maintain the digital archives; How to promote and use in the training already digitized materials with focus on young people; How to encourage the usage of digital content; The project will develop products and cooperate partners in the field of continues Vocational Education and Training (additional qualification, out of school training)The results we anticipate to receive under the project DigiPrior are:1.Protocol/Methodology for selecting the materials (setting priorities)for digitization;2.Competence Framework and Units text development;3.Approaches for attractive digital representation of the digitalcontent and rising the motivation of young learners;4. LMS with training materials how to prioritize the materials fordigitization; Structured as units of learning outcomes and ECVETapproach for assessment of achievements of training;5. Short digital movies with examples why some item has beenselected for digitization and the process, these movies will besuitable for training (and connected with the LMS content).

Digital technologies and online tools are a key driver to foster improved library services for visually impaired readers.Nevertheless, in most EU countries:- library staff is not fully aware about the scope and potential of ICT tools and services for the involvement of visually impaired users, and awareness is also poor on valuable experiences and best practices that could be reproduced at local and international level;- digital competencies of library staff are often insufficient to effectively integrate digital tools.TECH.LIBRARY focuses on 3 main objectives:1) favour the exchange of best practices among staffs of different libraries on services and ICT tools for the involvement of visually impaired users2) expand library staffs’ digital competencies through tailored training activities on ICT tools3) establish a network of libraries for cooperation in responding to visually impaired users’ needs.Following activities will be implemented in order to reach the foreseen objectives:1) Project coordination, which will guarantee a sound technical and financial management of the project,2) Exchange of best practices and study visits so as to give the possibility to each participant to learn and understand how other libraries and countries use ICT for the involvement of visually impaired users,3) Development of a web platform enabling users to get trained, share experiences and opinions, communicate, networking and disseminate project activities and initiatives,4) Short term joint staff training on latest ICT technologies to offer services to visually impaired users,5) Targeted dissemination and exploitation activities: 6 conferences (3 at transnational level and 3 at national level) to disseminate the project achievements and to engage stakeholders within the TECH.LIBRARY online platform. The partnership is composed by 6 public libraries from 6 different countries, supported by one technical partner. The project will involve 122 participants in the training and exchange of best practices activities, whereas 260 will participate in the multiplier events. Moreover, a significant number of external libraries will be engaged in networking and sharing of experiences through the web platform, which will also provide them with useful information, training videos and materials, demos and much more contents to improve their staffs’ digital competencies (it is estimated that more than 300 users will register and actively participate in the platform).Three intellectual outputs will be produced by project activities:1) TECH.LIBRARY online platform2) Training videos in 7 different languages3) Practical handbook and recommendations of best practices in 7 different languages. The expected impact of the project is to promote the professional development of libraries' staff in ICT methodologies all while upskilling their key competencies and fostering much greater inclusiveness in libraries by improving key services dedicated to blind and visually impaired users all around Europe.Becoming a genuinely inclusive library for visually impaired readers is not only about the capacity to adapt to ever changing digital technologies, but also about enabling library staff to play an all-inclusive role.

"Тhe project Mobile Digitizing (MobiDig) was intended to train librarians, managers of small organizations and VET providers in the sphere of Library Studies how to establish their own low-cost digitizing facilities and maintain the data. The project provided online VET resources for mobile/low-cost digitizing. The project products have not been uploaded in the Erasmus+ project results platform because of a technical problem, we have notified the National Agency (HRDC) about that. The technical problem in the platform (for that project) existed for weeks before the final report date and it is still not solved.Context:The REPORT on the Implementation of Commission Recommendation 2011/711/EU (2011-2013) described the digitization in Europe as fragmented, inefficient, low metadata quality, unclear quality indicators for digitizing activities and lack of connectivity between data-bases, low online representation of digital resources. Additionally, international surveys showed a low level of digitization in small libraries and archives, lack of cooperation between big and small organizations. In many local libraries there were valuable items which needed digitization - local newspapers, archives, important local books. However, the idea of bringing those items for digitization in big libraries was unpractical. As recent practices have showed, a better solution could be setting up low-cost digitizing installations in smaller organizations. The advantage of these systems was that they could be easily moved close to the books, transported ""in a bag"" from one place to another. The project objectives were to: - train librarians/archivists in small organizations and VET teachers in setting up low-cost digitizing services; - train librarians from big libraries/archives etc. how to support small organizations to establish low-cost digitizing services;- train the target group to use open educational resources and open-source code software in digitizing, data processing etc.; - provide online VET resources (LMS, digital movies) manual, open-source code tools suitable for low-cost digitizing, that could be used in formal/nonformal education; - provide a model for digitization decentralisation Target group: - librarians, archivists, managers in small libraries/archives/community centers/monasteries; - librarians, archivists and managers in bigger libraries/archives/community centers/monasteries, willing to support smaller institutions in implementing digitization; - VET teachers/trainers providing education/training in the sphere of Library and Archive Studies Staff in small libraries, archives, community centers and monasteries have usually acquired VET qualification ""librarian"". In this respect their knowledge, skills and competence resided in VET. Directly involved participants: more than 250; Indirectly involved: more than 1400 Activities included: - project management (inc. quality assurance and evaluation); - 7 training modules related to the new tendencies in digitizing, 7 short digital training movies to illustrate them; LMS with the 7 modules and a Manual which is available on paper and in pdf format; - short-term joint staff training;- piloting activities; - dissemination. Methodology:incorporated necessary design, testing, production, implementation, exploitation and sustainability phases. Activities were scheduled to allow for essential reflection and inputs both by the consortium partners and target groups. Main results: 1. 7 training modules on topics: Main steps in digitizing written heritage;Selection of documents to be digitized; Digitization hardware and software; Developing low-cost digitizing installations in small libraries, archives, community centres; Approaches in training managers of libraries/archives etc. and their staffs how to implement digitization in their organizations; Digitization and copyrights. 2. 7 short digital training movies to illustrate each training module - were integrated in each of the respective modules in the LMS. The idea was to use the full potential of ICT and modern media and provide the target group with as much visual and practical learning materials as possible. 3. LMS with 7 training modules: primarily for self-study. Anyone was able to quickly access them at any time and choose their own learning paths depending on their needs. It could be used for guided training too - bigger libraries could use them to train smaller ones, VET schools and other organizations could add them as an integrated part of a wider “cultural heritage preservation” subject, or as an extracurricular one. 4. Manual ""Mobile digitizing and new tendencies in digitizing written heritage by small libraries, archives and alike"" - adapted training modules and additional materials in a printed book with one additional chapter on how to use LMS. Impact: Increased target group competencies in digital transformation of written heritage through mobile digitization."
