"Music On Wheels is an international music project organized by and for young people, exploring the borders of Europe to make music together. This initiative, which literally connects Northern with Southern Europe, is supported by 15 young people from Belgium, Portugal and Norway. These young people were brought together by a shared passion for (hiphop-)music and a warm heart for artistic youth work. This project tackles media literacy, talent discovery and talent development, entrepreneurship, community building, social inclusion and Youth participation. Through 3 international training courses in 2020-2021, the 15 participants jointly explore the borders of Europe to make music through a process of co-creation. In this process, they involve other children and youngsters from disadvantaged neighborhoods through a mobile music studio. The voice of young people growing up in deprivation is still too little heard. Music On Wheels wants to make this voice sound loudly by creating rap texts and hip-hop tracks about current European topics such as equality, social inclusion, diversity, identity, etc. These songs and lyrics will be shared with local and international politicians, to make sure the message of the youth gets heard. This project promotes active citizenship and wants to make politicians aware about the difficult realities a lot of young people are confronted with. Music On Wheels also experiments with the use of Virtual Reality technology (VR) in musical experience. Before the first physical meeting, the young people already met each other in a VR-environment. This project builds bridges from youth work to other sectors, such as IT. We aim for approximately 400 young people actively involved in this project. To end this one-year project, we will organize a closing-event where young people from Belgium, Portugal and Norway get the chance to present their project results. On this event we would like to focus on sharing good practices concerning the use of VR as a tool in (musical) youth projects. After this project, everyone who was involved in this project will have the opportunity to put her/his portfolio on the Music On Wheels platform. For us it is important to make sure the young talents remain visible, so they can be ""booked"" by actors in and outside youth work. Through an individual growth-trajectory, focussing on our young talents, we contribute to a sustainable result striving for independence."

At the end of 2016 Belgian Graffiticulture-lovers founded a think-tank to create the project from scratch. They got in touch with a Dutch art-organization, who could motivate their young followers to start a think-tank as well. The project is defined by intense cooperation between those two young groups, who are actively involved in each part of the project. Learning is priority. Not only on the level graffiti-skills. Through an intense learning process the youngsters will develop more knowledge about entrepreneurship, project-planning and the use of new media competences. There is huge variety of talents and backgrounds which makes the project diverse. The project results in more chances of labor market entrances for the participants. They will feel strengthened with work experience and a broader network which will lead to more employment opportunities. Sticky Fingers provides growing opportunities for in total 10 young graffiti-artists, who will be coached by a professional graffiti-artist. Through training by experts, and an individual coaching assistance, they will be lead to self-employment professional artists. The output of the works they will create for Sticky Fingers will be publicly presented by two events, and consolidated in a travelling media-exposition. Through Graffiti-art in abandoned legal zones throughout the city these youth share their unvarnished opinion on actual themes such as urbanism, migration and youth spaces. Their hope is to trigger the development of a European art platform for young people through their first project: Sticky Fingers.Powered by Graffiti vzw & Stichting KOP
