Some of the difficulties identified, refer to the lack of knowledge of two dimensions: the value of ecosystems, the environment in general and rivers in particular; and the role, legitimacy and participation of people in water management processes. In general, there is a great difficulty for people to report and actively participate because these processes and mechanisms are not very “userfriendly” and are formalized in technical languages that are barely perceived by people. These issues become even more relevant in terms of adult education, since they had access to less content related to environment, participation and citizenship.Rosto Solidário, through some of its members, has followed the work of REDE INDUCAR in the Douro Vivo Network Project (and #MovRioDouro) which involves a wide network of organizations that are intervening in the Douro hydrographic region, the largest in the Peninsula Iberia and Portugal, in order to, among others, combat the major threats to the territory's ecosystems and livelihoods, reverse the lack of knowledge about the river and the state of the riverside ecosystems, and combat the reduced involvement of stakeholders in the protection of the hydrographic region. Within the scope of it, recommendations were produced so that citizens:- use water for consumption efficiently and sparingly;- enjoy natural spaces and denounce illegal or unsustainable practices;- participate actively in the planning and management of local water resources. However, the majority of people still experience a great deal of environmental and citizen illiteracy at various levels:- on the one hand, the value of ecosystems, the environment in general and rivers in particular is unknown, and on the other hand the role, legitimacy and participation of people in water management processes;- there is a great difficulty for people to report and actively participate because these processes and mechanisms are not very “userfriendly” and are formalized in technical languages that are barely perceived by people.- these issues are even more relevant at the adult level because, in their passage through school, formal education, they had access to less content at the level of the environment, participation and citizenship. In more specific groups of adults, such as the elderly, minorities and people with disabilities, the situation is even worse. The situation is similar across the border in Spain and in the same Douro basin. On the other hand, Sicily is, in the context of the Mediterranean basin, one of the areas most affected by climate change.<< Objectives >>This project aims as a GENERAL OBJECTIVE to reinforce the appropriation, by people, of water as a human right and a common good and the mobilization of citizens for the participation and defense of environment in a context of climate change.Within the scope of this project it is intended to achieve the following specific objectives:Develop innovative methodologies for adult education based on the combination of recreational and playful experiences in rivers and other natural spaces, the acquisition of relevant knowledge about the environment and participation and behavioral changes and civic involvement;Enhance adult education, and as a way of inclusion and promotion of their active participation in society, the web 2.0 tools as a pillar of lifelong learning and integrating outdoor recreational experiences, non-formal education and a learning and activism digital;Reinforce the learning processes based on gamification logic so that, in addition to knowledge and skills, attitudes and behaviors are developed in favor of the defense of environment and active citizenship.<< Implementation >>- six project international meetings (three in Portugal, two in Italy and one in Spain)- Production of Project Results (developing and testing it):1) ""Enjoying Rivers"" – APP to enjoy, learn and protect the river2) ""Environment and participation"" Educational tool kit3) ""Rivers for all"" - PARTICIPATORY WEBPLATFORM- two training and learning activities:C1 Building a commun floor - Rivers and Participation in Portugal;C2) Training of Trainners in Espanha)- three multiplier events (International Conference in Santa Maria da Feira, National multiplier event in Valladolid e National multiplier event in Palermo)<< Results >>The expected outcomes of the project are the following:1. Intellectual outputs- ""Enjoying Rivers"" – APP to enjoy, learn and protect the river- ""Environment and participation"" Educational tool kit- ""Rivers for all"" - PARTICIPATORY WEBPLATFORM2. Training for educators- Building a common floor about Rivers and Participation- Training of trainers3. Local activities for adults4. Impact in partner organisations: the four partner organisations will be more capable to develop activities of adult education with people with fewer opportunities on environmental level and based in proposals of gamification and online platforms and apps. All partners in the project have complementary skills related to the experiences, contexts and target groups that they work with: INDUCAR has been working with communities in a logic of empowerment, participation and autonomisation; Rosto Solidário has experience with people in social exclusion risk, the elderly, youth volunteers and adults in the development of campaigns, educational trainings, catalogs and board games; ASPAYM has a broad experience in the field of accessibility and working with people with disabilities, including elders and in the development that are based in board games and digital tools; and CEIPES with the work with migrants and refugees, but also with youth and people in rural areas and skills at dissemination of results, digital platforms and e-learning.All activities of this project will be adapted and thought taking into account the participants' profiles will fewer opportunities (elder, physical disabilities, migrants, refugees and people in situation of poverty and social exclusion). Accessibility is presupposition of all the project."

The idea is to increase the level of the quality in the pedagogical methods and to have a wider number of methodologies to be used with people with special needs. The project outcomes are addressed to educators that work in the field of social inclusion. All of the partners work and have in their background, competences related with specific categories of special needs. The link with the target group it's very important to develop quality contents addressed to the needs of the individuals, increasing their opportunities of learning. Moreover, the project is aimed to increase the use of non formal education in the adult education, proving that the results that many educators and trainers are achieving in the field of youth work can be gained also in the field of adult education. This aspect is very important to create learning pathways about non formal educators for a wider range of educators, working with a wider range of target groups. The strategic partnership that makes up this project, identified the existing problem in the development of abilities of the people under study, especially in the development of social and personal skills suffered by adults with fewer opportunities (refugees and migrants, people with psychological disorders, people with physical disability, elderly people, etc). Most of these adults are reluctant to participate in formal education spaces. Therefore, we believe that generating non-formal education spaces with a methodology developed through theatre settings will generate personal tools to offer significant results in the case of anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem and social isolation. The 5 members of this strategic partnership considered that the centralization of these benefits and the transformation of art therapy into a therapeutic practice in the field of adult education in a standardized and scientifically proven way, are vital. Therefore it is necessary that adult educators, trainers and staff, working in different social fields, have concrete, accurate and centralized data on the use of theatrical tools and exercise practices that can be implemented in activities with people in risk of social exclusion. The concrete results expected from the project will be the following: 1. Intellectual outputs: - Training kit for educators - Board game focused on improvisation theatre - e-learning training course 2. Training activity 3. Impact on partner organizations:Professionalization of adult educators and the development of adult education field in general. After the project completion, all the organizations that participated in the project will be able to conduct theatre activities for their target group, will be able to train other adult educators in this methodology and will have in their portfolio a great expertise in this field that melts art-therapy, non formal education and adult education, for an increased efficiency in raising the life quality of people, no matter the culture or the social status. These results will remain available also after the project completion as it is described in the field addressed to sustainability. This project's intellectual outputs and activities will be useful to adult educators, but also will give a plus value to the adult education field, through this approach of theatre therapy, including a toolkit (with theories, applicative exercises, recommendations for specialists), an e-learning training course on a web platform (that can be used not only by the adult educators and organizations involved in the project, but by all of the interested specialists) and a board game (to do the methodology an attractive approach). Each of the partners in this project has experience in working with people with fewer opportunities. Aspaym has a long career working with people with physical disabilities, conducting workshops with different methodologies to promote inclusion and improve sensory abilities and the well-being of their lives. Ceipes works with refugees. Aiccsc (or Gamma Inst.) has extensive experience working with people with psychological disorders. Rosto Solidario has a wide knowledge working with people with geographical and economic obstacles, as well as people with special learning needs. Rede Inducar develops multiple actions using theatre at local and regional level. All the activities of this project will be adapted and designed for all the participant profiles (physical disability, psychological disorders, refugees, elderly people, ... etc). The basis on which this project is founded is the inclusion and therefore, the design of the activities, as the accessibility to them, is fully guaranteed.

As learners (lifelong learning, self-competencies) As citizens (acting as conscious, self-responsible, democratic citizen). Digital transformation in its effects relates to vast aspects of peoples everyday life in a fast and more and more disturbing ways, thus is also is a force generating unconsciousness and needs to be reasoned about. Digital transformation is challenging as well the infrastructures in cities, states, big data/multiple databases, social networks. Digital competence should enable people to approach these challenges.Adult education for Active Citizenship has a crucial role to play as it supports learners to develop competences to engage and participate in society as democratic and confident citizens. However the field of AE has to deal increasingly with an audience/target group which is more and more in a position of exposed to the transformation while not being sufficiently equipped to understand digital transformation in its aspects to democracy, and society. Such to develop digital competence goes far beyond media literacy and critical thinking development but pre-requires also a field of Adult education which itself is confident and able to understand and develop learning concepts that adress the democratic challenges and dimensions relating to digital transformation in its full range. In particular Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education have a potential which tour project DIGIT-AL explores and aims to activate. In cross-sectoral collaboration we deliver two handbooks, an app and policy recommendations. The overall concept behind the project is to understand adult learning as a competency centered learning. Aiming to address the ability of adult learners to act consciously, self-responsible, aligned with their self-defined interests and self-explored needs, along democratic values and in cooperation with other citizens. The project is exploring and presenting approaches, practices and tools 1) how to involve digital competence into adult education. 2) How to support adult learners in understanding digital transformation and co-creating it as digitally competent citizens. 3) Furthermore we focus as well on the digital competence of adult educators. 4) The findings will be fed back to developers of digital competence frameworks and learning, as well as to the policy level. During the project we develop- A handbook on digital transformation as a specific and transversal topic in adult education: this publication explores the horizon of digital transformation and its connection to the practice of Adult learning for democratic citizenship- A handbook for educators: Digital competence: What is it? through what kind of approaches and practices adult learners might gain it and what kind of digital competence adult educators need to develop- Policy Recommendations targeting at premises of competence frameworks, AE policies in Europe related to digital transformation and Adult learning for democratic citizenship. - an App to support Adult educators in their learning settings with concrete and easy adaptable info and concepts for targeting digital transformation in their learning settingsA series of training activities tests and evaluates different concepts for educators to master digital transformation as a topic in their Adult learning settings. These trainings will involve a wider audience from the community of adult education practitioners and offer means to them to adapt suggested approaches and concepts into their educational work. The project itself builds a bridge between AE practitioners in Europe and the world of digitalisation research, digital competence development and digital transformation: it mutually ENGAGES stakeholders and experts from both ""spheres"", CONNECTS existing concepts of digital competence development within the wider horizons of digital transformation and the grassroots sphere of Adult Education, as being the level working with the group of citizens vastly affected by digital transformation. The project EMPOWERS adult educators and the field of adult education providers to better understand the transformative character of digitalisation to democracy and citizenship in all its different and difficult aspects, and supports them to develop adequate means and approaches to work with adult learners in an encouraging and positive way on these topics."
