The project was elaborated considering the local and European contest analyses.S.E.N.I.OR.is in line with European context: according to a recent survey done by the European Commission, by 2025 the European population over 65 will represent over 20% of the total population, registering a dizzying increase especially between people over 80 years old. At European level the debate on the inclusion of older people has officially started to animate the political debate since 2012 when the European Commission decided to dedicate the year to the theme of ""active aging"", highlighting how it was necessary to overcome the vision of an old age represented as a passive phase of existence, characterized by needs for assistance and social marginality. The European Commission also underlined how elderly people have a fundamental role in the maintenance and transmission of cultural heritage: they own the memories of the past and of the socio-cultural environment (things, places, people and experiences) so they can be an important source of information for sharing and transmitting their knowledge to younger people. The specific objectives of the project are the following:-to foster the mutual knowledge between the 3 associations taking part in the partnership, in order to create a network that can be used also at the end of the Erasmus + project for the promotion of educational activities for adults and especially for people over 65 years old;- to promote the deepening of 3 different themes, starting from the individual experiences gained by the 3 different associations - realization of 3 training events each one addressed to 9 different educators with the aim of providing them with specific skills and knowledge relating to the 3 topics best described in the LTT box;- to transfer the skills learned during the transnational training events to at least 45 other educators (15 per association belonging to the consortium);- to raise awareness among the associative world and civil society on the need to work to encourage greater active participation of the elderly;- involve the elderly by allowing them through the presence of European educators from countries other than the one in which they are resident to learn more about some aspects related to European culture;- to enlarge the number of workshops and activities proposed by each individual association by integrating them with training proposals that are inspired by what has been learned from the international comparison and that can promote the spread of greater European knowledge among senior people. The project will have significant impacts both on the individual participants and on the individual partners and at local and European level. The individual educators involved in the training event will have the possibility to acquire new knowledge and skills for the planning, implementation and management of activities for elder people. For the individual partners S.E.N.I.OR. will be not just a way to acquire new knowledge and skills, but it will represent the opportunity to enlarge their network of European contacts to develop new activities able to increase the participation of senior people in the society. The starting of a preliminary cognitive investigation about the training needs of the end users (the senior citizens), together with the examination of the knowledge and skills that an adult educator should have to the manage the activities addressed to elder people, will increase awareness of these needs. The increase of awareness will promote in the middle and long term time the quality of activities addressed to senior citizens. Finally the project both at local and European level wants to increase the experiences that can break the isolation and marginalization of the elderly, through the promotion of new training methods based on the active participation of the same elderl people."
