"<< Background >>The projects aims at rasining awareness on youth, future generations, about environmental and climate-change challenges, proposing an innovative educational programme about sustainable choises of life, consumption of safe food, reduction of food waste. Good dietary habits contribute to the personal wellbeing of the people but youngsters often suffers lack of interest or skills. The United Nations has set ‘ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture’ as the second of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the year 2030.In line with this goal, our project want to pursue those goals, through the transfer to youth of some learning tools that will allow them to play a role in the local communities where they live and to become proactive and dynamic in the field of self-sustanance, based on food security, km 0 production and zero food waste, thanks to the comparison at a transnational level of different EU models.According to some EUROSTAT Statistics included in the 2019 report, in the EU only the 41% of respondents, no matter the age, is not concerned about food security (65 % of peoplein Cyprus are particulartly interested about that or 50 % in Germany, while in many other EU countries people are luch less interested, like in Italy only 17 % of respondents is interested, or 39 % in Greece 60% etc.) We also have noticed how the interest is changing according to education levels (the longer respondents stayed in education, the more likely they are to be interested in the topic of food safety, 52% of those who ended education at the age of 20 or above, compared with 33% of those who left education by the age of 15), the economic status of respondents(those who have difficulties paying bills never or almost never are more likely to be interested in this topic than those who have difficulties from time to time or most of the time (45% vs 34%) and the age (younger respondents are less interested than older respondents (33% of 15-24 year olds compared 42%- 43% in the older age groups). The project is born from the meeting of countries that have registered a stronger or weaker interest about food security and related topics, in order to learn from each other how to raise up awareness on these topics and how to make them as an opportunity to feel more included in a community. In recent years it is growing the understanding of the important role of food security, to enhance the social, physical and mental well-being of people and to have a more sustainable impact on a personal level and on the environment. Youth’s ability to attain food security through production on land is reduced by the lack of availability of agricultural land, agricultural technologies and modern farming techniques and youth-friendly and unattractive agricultural policies. However, in order to effectively address the problem of food security, together with the youth poverty, we can engage youth workers, who will be trained on those topics through the learning tools provided ; and then they will use those tools to engage young people at risk of poverty and social exclusion, so having a positive impact on their physical and mental health and personal development.<< Objectives >>GENERAL OBJECTIVE- To promote cross-sectorial cooperation in the fields of youth work and sustainable environment, society and economy on the topics of food security and zero food waste.""Sustainability"" has its three meanings : environmental, economic and social -Environmental sustainability can be defined as the natural use of alternative techniques in agriculture, having a positive impact on the environment, reducing overexploitation of chemical resources like pesticides and fertilizers. - Social sustainability can be defined as the benefit for disadvantaged people who will be able to learn new useful skills, in terms of psychological well-being, self-awareness about their experience and possible education and working path to follow.-Economic sustainability can be defined as the profitable impact that the project can have on the local economy, in terms of promotion of local production and selling of KM 0 products at competitive prices.SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES- To develop key competences of youth workers and other personnel who support disadvantaged young people at risk of exclusion, in the field of food security and zero food waste.- To promote awareness of the importance of food security and highlighting the roles that each individual can take towards becoming food secure.<< Implementation >>The project will produce on main project results, that will start from an initial analysis to the exchange of learning practices and the consequent identification of learning needs of both youth workers and young people at risk of exclusion.
