<< Background >>As stated in the European Skills Agenda, the green and digital transitions are reshaping the way we live, work and interact. The EU’s move to a resource-efficient, circular, digitised and climate neutral economy are expected to create new jobs, while other jobs will change or even disappear. For these reasons, it calls for actions that support the twin transitions and that ensure that people have the right skills for jobs. At the same time, as the EU Gender Equality underlines, “gender equality brings more jobs and higher productivity – a potential which needs to be realised as we embrace the green and digital transitions and face up to our demographic challenges”.The European Green Deal sets Europe on the pathway to becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, while the EU’s first-ever Gender Equality Strategy is designed to make gender equality a reality in the European Union. Building synergies between the two strategies is ever more important today in order to support Europe’s recovery from the Covid-19 crisis fostering green and digital transitions in an inclusive way.The pandemic has hit women particularly hard in several respects, and women’s participation in the labour market is no exception. As stated in the 2021 Report on Gender Equality in the EU, preliminary data on labour market trends shows that the impact of the pandemic’s first wave on the labour market was more significant for women than for men. Unemployment amongst women grew from 6.9% in April to 7.9% in September 2020, while male unemployment rose from 6.5% to 7.1% in the same period (EUROSTAT, 2021). In addition, the situation of women in the labour market is far from homogenous and inequalities are even wider amongst groups of women in disadvantaged or vulnerable situations, such as young and older women, women with disabilities, single mothers with dependent children, women with a minority racial or ethnic background and from migrant communities or other minority groups (EC, 2021).<< Objectives >>“Circular economy education for social inclusion of Women” (CECIL) is a 24 months Cooperation partnership aimed at promoting Circular Economy and Sustainability among women at risk of exclusion, by fostering a greater interaction between the European Green Deal and the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025.As resulting from the needs analysis conducted by the Consortium, a greater promotion is needed of the positive social impacts that Circular Economy (CE) can have on Adults at risk of exclusion, and on women in particular. In fact, CE can foster not only employability but also social inclusion, by promoting a greater sense of social justice and social equity within the greater framework of sustainable development, satisfying the needs of present and future generations (Padilla-Rivera, 2020).In order to reach its core aim, the project has identified the following specific objectives:- providing Adult Educators and trainers with skills, competences and tools to engage women at risk of exclusion (35-45) and / or who did not complete their studies- creating upskilling pathways for women at risk of exclusion (35-45) and / or who did not complete their studies, and increase their take-up of new adult education opportunities in the field of circular economy and sustainability.<< Implementation >>In the 24 months of cooperation, CECIL Consortium will implement:-3 Transnational project meetings- 1 JSTE aimed at:a. providing comprehensive joint learning and exchange between the participants on tools and methodologies to foster Circular Economy and sustainability through art, craft and NFE methodologiesb. testing the Training Format produced in R1.c. Lay the foundation for the co-creation of the activities to be included in the R2 and tested in the local phase- Local workshops involving participants in the C1 as trainers and women at risk of exclusion (35-45), to test the activities to be included in the R2 and lay the foundation for the co-creation of the video-tutorials to be included in R3.<< Results >>Partners are expecting a set of tangible and intangible result to have matured by the end of the 24 months of the present cooperation. Tangible results:1. R1 – CECIL Guide, a practical resource for Adult Educators and Adult Education Institutions regarding tools and methodologies to foster Circular Economy and Sustainability within their organisations and in their work with the target group and beyond. A Training Format employing the tinkering methodology in synergy with NFE methods will be included, as a practical resource for direct application of said methods in future trainings or in the daily life of organisations. The TF will be based on the findings of a transnational research (which final report will be included in R1) identifying the needs and barriers, and societal exclusion factors of women at risk of exclusion, and the existing offer in the frame of Circular Economy Education and Plastic Craftwork.2. R2 - CECIL Interactive Toolkit, developed through a co-design process between the Adult Educators involved in the C1 and partner organizations, as a set of guidelines, workshops and video tutorials on tinkering and Non-Formal education activities fostering Circular Economy.3. R3 - CECIL Practitioners Network, developed around a web-platform, conceived as a comprehensive tool to foster Plastic Circular Economy through Recycled art/Craftwork and comprising a resources section for users approaching the field of Circular Economy and re-cycled art/craftworks, and a forum section where users / practitioners can exchange tutorials for Plastic Craftwork including information on the amount of waste avoided.Through the production of tangible results and the implementation of training activities at transnational and local level, CECIL will also produce the following outcomes:A. Stakeholders and policy-making authorities provided with meaningful insights and concrete pathways for the improvement of sectoral policies/offers in the field of adults education and women social inclusion.B. Operators from each partner country provided with the knowledge, competences, and methodologies to be active, in cooperation among them, in supporting the social inclusion and empowerment of women through Circular Economy Education and Plastic Craftwork.C. Large parts of the European territory are rural areas and there is still about 30% of the continent’s population living in these locations. Rural areas in particular in remote locations still face diverse economic and demographic challenges. Ageing and migration are serious concerns leading to deterioration in the operational environment of the business community. Labour shortages (quantitative and qualitative) may deter investment. New local-based businesses, promoted by young adult unemployed, preferably women, who take advantage of the heritage of ancestral and traditional activities, adding marketing innovation and the use of new technologies could be potential solutions in some cases for the problem of a shortage of appropriate local job opportunities. As such, INSIDE-T is looking to promote intergenerational learning and the development of professional skills in young adult and women unemployed, to social sustainability in tourism in low density territories (rural areas). Aligned with this, INSIDE-T wants to make a breach into the negative social and economic beliefs on the future of low density territories.Project’s specific objectives are:1.Promote a blended training package, addressing challenges young adult unemployed face in transforming their situation in small sustainable business models, towards social sustainability in low density territories;2. Create interactive tools, reconnecting and engaging generations through the connection of young adults unemployed to seniors in low density territories in Europe;3. Provide unemployed people with an intergenerational interactive learning platform containing all training material;4. Deliver guidelines for the use of Inside-T pack for VET providers. The project is composed by interlinked activities resulting in the production of a pack with resources and methodologies adapted to the targets to be used by VET providers, social animators and tourism organisations, proposing a new multilevel and engaged learning process, mediated by real testimonies and life stories and narratives of those who made it possible (Multimedia Best Practices), who have successful companies in low density territories.INSIDE-T promotes the use of life cycle metrology, which implies a sequence of activities for planning, executing and dissemination the project results. During the project lifetime, the following intellectual outputs will be developed:O1- INSIDE-T CurriculumO2- Multimedia Best PracticesO3- INSIDE T Course and learning manualO4- INSIDE-T e-Tools (self-assessment tool, collaborative resource network and a creative lab)O5- Inside-T e-learning paltaformO6- Guidelines for VET providersFinally, the project is intended for VET providers and trainers, animators, and social educators that will embrace a final target facing the greatest difficulties in finding employment, with priority being given to young adult people, mainly women, graduates or not, with or without training, but without employment, women job seekers, job seekers from urban areas that want to try news life experiences in rural areas and job seekers in rural areas. The potential stakeholders of the project will be Vocational Training Centers, Schools, Universities, Companies, Community Centers, Social and collective Associations, Professional Associations, Tourist Routes, Tourism Schools, Local Development Associations, Regional and local authorities and Local Creative Industries. Its development is preceded by knowledge transfer, literature review and target group survey. It supports the understanding the associated problem through theories, frameworks and other structures that exist in the literature and that allow the practical implementation of the course (R2) and platform (R3) that will support it.R2 – CourseThe course is an excellent and innovative opportunity to empower and develop the capacities of adult educators and trainers to ensure their role in linking the needs of learners from diverse social backgrounds to share key values such as their contribution to social cohesion and the preservation of heritage and culture, and to prevent and combat depopulation in rural areas. Based on a participatory, holistic and learning-centered strategy, adult educators will have the opportunity to participate in a unique learning experience in a diverse and supportive environment in a creative process, enabling them to learn by doing, through new methodologies mediated by documentaries of good practices, well adapted to the target audience needs. Documentaries will be used to break down stereotypes and inspire new life stories. The subject of this result is divided in 2 parts: the content-based part, including opportunities to learn from best practices in the field. The second part is activity-based, combining the interactive tools provided on the platform, allowing participants to create new ideas and work collaboratively.R3- PlatformThis intellectual output provides the development of the ENTRUST platform and the programming of e- tools (self-assessment, collaborative network, creative lab). The platform will be built from an open-source platform, such as Moodle, which allows the creation of custom learning environments. It will be user-centered, offering the creation of management and personal profiles through a simple process of sign-up and supporting the evolution of the learning process. The platform should use gamification techniques, which make the learning experience more appealing, involving the participants more. Some of these techniques include:- Progression: moving gradually to more complicated learning material, from theoretical content through analysis of documentaries to the development of self-assessment and job creation actions; - Challenges: problem-based exercises, which the learner should resolve to progress towards training completion; - Meaningful choices: give participants the possibility to create their own trail/pathway; - Social interaction: collaborating with peers for solving common problems using the interactive tools, exchanging ideas in a forum or at the collaborative network; - Achievement: collecting points for the completion of certain learning paths, culminating in the award of a completion certificate path.R4 – Guidelines - Learning / teaching / training material – Manual / handbook / guidance materialGuidelines for VET Providers introduce the ENTRUST rationale / approach for the target audience and illustrates how to use the assets in the ENTRUST pack (Curriculum, Course, e-tools within the e-platform, etc.). It also presents the session plans for the modules and units of the training program to be applied in full and suggestions of activities that adult educators/trainers can use in their training activities, taken from the Course. The requirements for receiving a Certificate of achievement on the training end will also be presented. These guidelines aim to explain the nature of the ENTRUST training material and to encourage VET providers to use them. It will explain how trainers should guide and support learners throughout the blended learning course. It will also give recommendations for adopting the ENTRUST material to face-to-face training sessions if needed.
