At the same time, it recognizes the relevance of youth work to mitigate the effects of social exclusion among young people. Therefore, promoting social innovation tools in the youth field, based on non-formal education, becomes the main project’s challenge.Specifically, PLACE objectives are to:- strengthen the role of youth work in the development of inclusive & healthy societies by promoting innovative & creative use of urban garden as multiple-goal oriented tool;- enhance cooperation & cross-cutting synergies between Programme & Partner countries to improve the quality & the impact of youth work in Partner countries;- develop new tools for the youth field through the creation of an open educational resource (OER) on how use urban garden in youth work. The core part of project’s activities is based on mobility of youth workers & young people. In fact, the project fully believes in the importance of exchange & cooperation & giving the opportunity to do a mobility abroad is considered as an important way to promote a multi-level capacity building process among all involved actors. In particular, main project’s activities consist of:- 8-day training course (TC), involving 30 youth workers (6/partner), on how use urban garden as tool for youth work. The TC will allow participants discovering the potential of such environment to promote inclusion, healthy & sustainable living & educational benefits as well. It will be based on non-formal education methods allowing participants to recognize & valorize their skills and mainly permit them to transfer the acquired skills in their personal & professional life;- 5-month EVS for 20 volunteers from all partner countries. During the mobility they will be involved in gardening workshops & social inclusion activities of people with fewer opportunities, based on cooperative, active & experiential learning. The planned activities will contribute to foster their physical & psychosocial health & help building notions of living-together, collaboration & shared values. In particular gardening workshops provide opportunities to develop skills in leadership, community organizing, cultural competency & programme planning, implementation & evaluation. The positive effects of such activities fall back on the participating organisations promoting their capacity building, fostering cooperation between Programme & Partner countries & improving the quality of youth work approaches & tools.

The NGOs involved in the proposal will be InteRed, CESIE and Südwind. The intellectual outputs produced in the proposal will be available for the educational community at the European level. In the proposal, the schools will become agents of change to transform our world. The socioeconomic effects of the COVID 19 increase the current crisis regarding climate, migratory and care-giving we are already undergoing. The general objective of the proposal is to promote social inclusion by fostering global, critical, responsible and active citizenship that will fight for equality, intercultural dialogue and against discrimination and the environmental damage. The proposal is therefore aligned with two of the priorities of this call: social inclusion and common values, civic engagement and participationThe specific objective of the proposal is to promote transformative and innovative educational methods and practices in order to foster social inclusion and global citizenship. This objective responds to what the Eurydice Report “Global Citizenship education in the European educational system” states regarding “ traditional educational strategies (that) are no longer appropriate for education about citizenship”. Backing active, holistic and collaborative methodologies means a curriculum development focused on competences instead of contents and putting the student at the center of the teaching-learning process. This approach will contribute to tackling early school leaving which is also an objective of the proposal. The innovative education by means of transformative methodologies proposed by the action will be implemented in two ways, on the one hand, teachers capacity building and on the other hand the production of educational resources. More than a hundred teachers will participate in the on-line training, virtual seminars and multiplier events that will be implemented, about innovative and transformative educational methods to promote social inclusion with a global citizenship approach, in the three countries. Four guidelines for teachers will be produced, with practical orientations to address diversity, the development of emotional skills, critical thinking, and global competence. Learning through games will play an essential role in the teacher's training process, within the second component of the proposal. In the framework of the proposal, games as an educational resource will be produced. These games will be a supportive tool for teachers in their classes, so that students improve their knowledge, skills, and attitudes, at the individual as well as at the collective level to foster social inclusion and global citizenship. Four board games will be produced as intellectual results for students in the different educational stages, from 3 to 18 years old. In these games, the students from different schools and countries will have to collaborate to deal with global challenges. 24 teachers and 540 students (8 teachers and 180 students per country) will participate in the elaboration and validation of educational resources. The main criteria for the selection of the schools and participants will be to give priority to students at risk of school leaving and students with a migrant background. Balanced participation between girls and boys will also be considered. There will be an on-line platform for exchanges among students from different schools. Learning through games is an innovative, active and participative methodology that will promote cohesion among the participants which will also foster motivation and inclusion, which are critical to stopping school leaving. The collaboration needed to deal with the global challenges in the games will contribute to the construction of global citizenship among the students. The aforementioned intellectual outputs will be freely available on the project web site as well as on those of the partner organizations and ERASMUS plus platform, School Education Gateway, in Spanish, English, German and Italian. This will multiply the scope of the proposal. Besides this, 45 units of each game will be printed for distribution among teachers participating in the multiplier events that will be held in each country to disseminate the project results. InteRed, CESIE and Südwind will guarantee the use of these resources in schools and their impact on students.

Pomurje region is one of the least developed regions in Slovenia and it is highly impacted by the outflow of young professionals from the region and by the highest unemployment rate in the whole country. One can also observe a high rate of brain drain (the emigration of highly trained or qualified people from a particular country), as young people are looking for a job and a better future outside the region or rural areas. The project has contributed immensely to improving the position of young people in rural areas, including their social and economic status. They achieved this goal by introducing young entrepreneurs to the concept of social entrepreneurship as a possible way to improve their position, offering them the possibility of training in the field of social entrepreneurship, support and assistance in the development of entrepreneurial ideas and their realizations. Social entrepreneurship represents the concept of sustainable economy and it is characterized by a resistance to market shocks, excellent ability to adapt to the challenges in local environment and great potential for social integration and employment.Social entrepreneurship strengthens social solidarity and cohesion, promotes involvement of society and volunteering, strengthens the company's innovative ability to solve social, economic, environmental and other problems, provides an additional supply of products and services that are in the public interest, develops new employment opportunities, provides additional jobs and social integration and vocational reintegration of the most vulnerable groups of people in the labor market.Encouraging young people to develop their own entrepreneurial ideas and supporting them when they take their first steps into social entrepreneurship can be an effective approach of reducing unemployment among young people and also creating new employment perspectives not only on a regional, but also on a national and European level. Project combines the innovative model of the so called ""Living and Virtual Lab"", a structure of informal mentorship and the use of modern technologies for the purpose of raising awareness and educating young people on the subject of social entrepreneurship and the detection and exploitation of its potential in rural areas. Within the project’s framework a “Living Lab"" was created for experimentation and co-creation of social innovations. It represented a meeting place for young people, it was suitable for teamwork, individual work, meetings, gatherings, events, and a place to develop new ideas. Entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs presented their enterprises and their entrepreneurial path to young people. Various workshops and events were held at the ""Living Lab"" and were open to the general public. With the help of these workshops on the topic of social entrepreneurship and rural development, young people were able to acquire new knowledge and motivation for entrepreneurial and social-entrepreneurial engagement. More than 250 young people were involved in the activities of the project, who got the opportunity to explore the potential and possibility offered by venturing into social entrepreneurship. The final event of the project was represented by the Festival of social entrepreneurship, whose purpose was raising awareness on the intellectual results of the project. It combined an international conference, a round table (Opportunities, challenges and Dangers of Social Entrepreneurship in Rural Area) and a marketplace. Young people presented the manual “My Idea, My Future: First Steps to Social Entrepreneurship” and the mobile application “My Idea, My Future.” The event was attended by local and national law makers, entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, representatives of various organisations, development agencies and an interested general public, which was mainly represented by young people. The aim of the festival was to promote social entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurs, to present the potential of opportunities in the rural area, networking and presentatin of intelectual results. Manual and mobile app represent long-term benefits for young people on an international level, as they offer an interesting insight into the field of social entrepreneurship in an interesting way. Manual is available for free in the Slovenian and English language on the website www.myideamyfuture.com. Mobile app is available for a free download in the Google Play Store and App Store.Project partnership was composed of organizations from Slovenia (RIS Dvorec Rakičan, coordinator), Italy (CESIE) and France (ADICE). Cooperation on international level was an important contribution in terms of transfer of knowledge, experience and creation of long lasting partnerships."
