<< Background >>The pathways of engagement of young people are nowadays disrupted by several factors, notably impacting international mobility. This implies at least a questioning of the modalities of implementation of these engagement practices, in order to reach a multiple declination of engagement paths responding to contemporary issues. Today, the ecological emergency invites us to rethink the modalities of implementation of young people's projects: international mobilities in particular must be reexamined (carbon footprint, degree of necessity of the trip). The political and social instability that some countries may experience are issues that have always existed, but that the health crisis has highlighted even more. Indeed, the closure of borders induced by the COVID-19 pandemic has brought many projects to a halt. However, apart from health crises, certain borders may be closed from time to time, or certain areas may be subject to instability preventing travel or the implementation of projects in safe conditions. Finally, social inequalities or inequalities in opportunities can also be obstacles to engagement practices that require international mobility. Beyond the committed projects of young people taking place internationally and requiring mobility, international mobilities are also essential to encourage encounters with others, i.e. intercultural experiences between young people. This experience allows for the deconstruction of prejudices, the understanding of global issues from a non-ethnocentric perspective, and the acquisition of intercultural dialogue skills. This is essential in the construction of an individual as a citizen and therefore for young people building their path of commitment to their global integration. If international mobility is currently facing obstacles, it is necessary to rethink it in the light of these contemporary issues in order to propose alternative solutions in the medium term, and thus strengthen the commitment pathways of young people by allowing them to meet others.Digital technology is becoming increasingly important in our societies. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the need to appropriate it even more and faster. Digital technology can be an answer to the limits that international mobility can face. Nevertheless, if it can be a lever, it cannot systematically be a relevant alternative and remains an issue with its own problems, and can even generate new problems (inequalities of access to digital technology, loss of richness of the human link, etc).It has therefore become necessary for structures working with committed young people to take hold of digital technology in its entirety, in order to better support the young people they work with. It is a question of cooperation between actors in order to strengthen the skills of partners and young people, but also to position themselves as structures on contemporary issues, which will impact the practices of youth engagement in the medium term. This allows us to respond to current issues in order to better strengthen youth engagement practices in the years to come. By positioning ourselves as a European partnership on these issues, we can give a contemporary scale to these challenges, but also directly confront the modalities of intercultural encounters between young people, in the era of digital transformation.<< Objectives >>The objective of the project is to respond to the priorities set by the European Union in the framework of the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 program, in the youth section, namely to promote the active citizenship of young people. It is indeed about promoting their active citizenship, by reinforcing the practices of young people already engaged thanks to the intercultural experience, while inscribing this experience in the heart of a contemporary issue: the digital transformation. This also meets a horizontal priority of the Erasmus + program. It is indeed a question of structures working with committed young people and young people appropriating digital technology, in order to be able to make a relevant and responsible use of it, and to position themselves on contemporary issues, in order to reinforce the commitment practices of young people in the medium term. The objective is also to position ourselves on a European scale on this issue, and to encourage other structures working with committed young people to modify their practices with regard to digital technology by providing them with tools and strengthening their skills on these issues. Moreover, we think that this issue is a real contemporary issue that must be taken up so that young people's commitment paths are strengthened tomorrow. We believe that young people must be the driving force on these issues: if they can already be, the challenge of the project is to accelerate this and to link different young people on these issues. This is why the goal of the project is to bring young people to take hold of these issues to propose their own view on a relevant and responsible use of digital technology in their commitment path, and thus to enhance the voice of young people to other structures and institutions. To this end, the project has five specific objectives: Objective 1 - To identify the needs and obstacles of young people in terms of intercultural encounters and to demonstrate its importance in their pathways to civic engagementObjective 2 - To reinforce the appropriation of the digital transformation by young people, both on the theoretical level (digital in a social context) and on the technical levelObjective 3 - Train young people in the use of digital technology in their civic engagementObjective 4 - Valorize the word of young people on the responsible use of digital technology in a civic engagement processObjective 5 - Strengthen the technical digital skills of partners<< Implementation >>C1: a preparation time for the project with the young people. This will last 4 days in person, and will bring together 3 young people from each partner organization. The objectives of this activity are mainly to allow the young people to appropriate the objectives of the project and to share their expectations, and to co-construct with them a part of the programs of activities and results. The activity helps to meet Objective 5.C2: an exchange seminar on interculturality in the pathways of commitment. This seminar will last 5 days and will gather 8 young people from each partner organization.-The young people will exchange on their own intercultural experience, either through this project or through a past experience, and they will become aware of the factors that promote or limit the possibilities of living an intercultural experience;-The young people analyze the raw results of the questionnaire (R1) with regard to their own relationship to interculturality, in order to bring a critical vision to it.This activity helps to answer Objective 1, and will serve as a basis for the study on the intercultural experience of young people (R2).C3: A training session to strengthen digital skills. This will last 3 days and will bring together 2 employees from each partner organization.Youth leaders gain skills and knowledge through hands-on experience and presentation of SEGA's use of digital tools;-Youth leaders prepare and test a methodology for online intercultural exchange-Youth leaders are able to accompany young people in the implementation and appropriation of these new digital tools;-Youth leaders are aware of digital issuesThis activity responds to objective 5. The skills acquired by the partners will also serve as a resource for the production of the good practice guide and the turnkey interactive tool (R3 and R4), but also for the preparation of the implementation of the intercultural seminar in digital part (C4)C4: an intercultural dialogue seminar on digital issues. This seminar will last 8 days, 5 days face-to-face and 3 days online, and will gather 8 young people from each partner organization.-The young people question the challenges of digital technology, both the levers of commitment that it allows and at the same time the more negative effects that it can generate;-Young people exchange on their use of digital technology in their civic engagement and propose their vision of a relevant and responsible use of digital technology-Young people see digital technology as one of the tools to strengthen their engagement, more specifically through intercultural online experiences; -Young people plan the implementation of a fully digital intercultural exchange (C5).This activity addresses objectives 2 and 3. It will also be a basis for the production of outcome R3.C5: a digital intercultural exchange seminar. This will last 5 days, and will bring together 10 young people from each partner organization: some of the young people will have participated in the other activities of the project and will be responsible (with the staff) for logistics and animation, while another part will be new young people who will discover the project and the issues related to digital. The objectives of this activity are that:-The young people experience concretely a digital intercultural exchange to make improvements ;-Other young people are sensitized to digital issues, and a vision of young people on the use of a responsible and inclusive digital to strengthen their pathways of citizen engagement is structured and valued - via a digital mobilization campaign by and for youth. This activity also addresses objectives 2 and 3, as well as objective 4, and will be a basis for the R4 production.<< Results >>The expected results of the project will aim to impact both youth and organizations working with youth, especially those accompanying them on their journey of engagement. These main impacts are :- a better appropriation of the digital transformation by young people, in connection with their engagement pathway;- a better appropriation of the digital transformation by youth workers - a positioning of young people on contemporary issues, in order to invite other young people and other youth workers to modify their practices, by appropriating digital technology in particular;- Easier access to intercultural experience via digital technology. These outcomes will be achieved through:-The creation and dissemination of a double questionnaire (for youth and youth workers) aimed at interrogating and documenting the intercultural experience for today's youth (R1) ; - The production of a study on the realities, desires, needs and obstacles of young people in the face of intercultural experience, particularly related to international mobility (R2). The exchange seminar on interculturality contributes to the production of this result. - The realization of a guide of good practices on the use of digital technology in a commitment pathway, in particular through intercultural exchange (R3). The aim of the guide is to be a general resource on the use of digital technology in the context of strengthening youth engagement practices. Thus, it will be a resource on how it can alleviate the ecological footprint linked to international mobility, the inequalities of access to international mobility, the unstable political contexts inducing a closing of borders; but also on the limits it can have, notably because of inequalities of access to digital technology and the pollution it also generates. In any case, this guide is not intended to propose a systematic and univocal use of digital technology, which cannot be considered as an alternative that is always desirable, but to facilitate its more global recontextualization in order to better take hold of it and make a relevant and responsible use of it. The production of the guide will be based on the reflections of the young people during the intercultural dialogue seminar on digital issues. - The publication of a turnkey interactive tool to appropriate digital technology as committed young people or workers accompanying committed youth initiatives, with the practical case of a digital intercultural exchange (R4). This interactive tool will present in a concrete way practical and technical elements to lead a digital intercultural exchange: animation methods that favor the encounter with the other, advice to allow the participation of all, digital tools used during the project to lead a digital intercultural exchange, digital intercultural games. The production of the interactive guide will be based on the concrete experimentation of the digital intercultural encounter activity.
