PROJET « GENERATION 21+ »With this project finished, it can be said that all our goals have been achieved and that the schools involved have been really opened to Europe. The project has pretended to develop the curiosity and self-esteem of our students. And thanks to these two years enriched with exchanges and activities, they have been aware of both their own skills and their real place as European citizens. The fact of welcoming European teachers and students has really been rewarding and motivating. And the use of new technologies and innovative activities has benefited the learning of second languages. The following are some of the activities which have been carried out::-Drawing and choosing the project logo-Organizing exhibitions-Using web apps for presentations, interactive images, e-books and comics - about the project topics, all of them shown at transnational meetings-Thinking about cultural likes and dislikes of European teens –with interviews and round tables in the three countries -Organizing fun and innovative activities to involve students –intercultural games, coming up with slogans, decorating objects-Taking part in conferences and talks-Taking part in interdisciplinary art workshops –curiosity cabinet, photo workshops, recycling miniatures. All the students have been able to work in European groups from different nationalities-Attending interactive exhibitions -“Tomorrow Human”, “Fablab” – which have stimulated their interest and curiosity related to technologyA lot of productions have been spread not only on educational platforms, web pages or blogs, but also in ordinary exhibitions –about echology or fashion. This has let the students show their creations out of the school in order to take the responsibility and to be aware of the interest of their work. Now our wish is that other teachers use all the materials -already made and used by us- thanks to our final production: a non-material pedagogical case on our project blog, which can be found on different platforms.Using innovation to teach foreign languages means that the final production is not a final goal. It shows continuity, as our investigation on motivating activities for students and innovative activities for the classroom are now part of our everyday work.

BackgroundThe primal ideas for the project OSKARRR result from the thought to have students from different learning levels, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds work together in a project that is forward-looking. It dealt with recycling and the adherent management of resources. In the course of events all project partners have developed teaching units. These teaching units and the corresponding material is made available and can be used and refined. GoalsThe goal of the project was to transmit basic competences, including innovative methods especially to students with learning difficulties in a sense of lifelong learning. Through motivating approaches the discrepancies resulting from working with students from different learning levels was counteracted. Like this the skills of all students were strengthened according to their capabilities. The disparities were levelled, the strengths of the individual supported and the weaknesses reduced so that students with deficits could gain more self-confidence and everyone was able to increase their social, media and language competences.Basically three partner schools participated in the project.Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “a. Cesaris” (Technical grammar school in Casalpusterlengo, Italy)LYCEE PRIVE TECHNOLOGIQUE ET PROFESSIONNEL SAINTE CECILE (Private school for health, education and social professions in Albi, FranceWilhelm-Normann-Berufskolleg (vocational college in Herford, Germany)The project OSKARRR was divided into three workshops concerning the topic recycling and a final conference for documentation and evaluation. Every transnational learning activity was prepared by all project partners so that during the conferences the prepared contents could be presented and analyzed in order to develop teaching units (modules). The project’s results were presented to the public (local and regional politicians, press)1.ReduceLaboratory experiments to save resources through treatment and preparation of old oilVisit to recycling plantGuided tour through the science museums in Milan and GenovaProject presentation to the mayor of Casalpusterlengo and press2.RecyclePreparation of a travelling exhibition “Recycling projects in the partner countries” as postersWorkshop on “Recycling design”Developing and building furniture from discarded cardboard and jeansPresentation to the county council and pressVernissage of the travelling exhibition through the county councilor3.ReuseQuestionnaire “Waste of food and packaging”Workshop “sustainable snack” made from regional products in reusable packagingReuse of materials in general, example titanium at Airbus ToulousePresentation of results to the mayor of Albi and pressThe project activities were planned to be approachable for everyone. The topical focus were oriented on the participants’ personal experiences and developed from there. Through practical experiences that could be gained in e.g. laboratory experiments, workshops and visits to companies the project OSKARRR contributed a major part towards the future oriented, professional and sustainable demands young adults have to face on their way to become EU citizens capable of acting.Aspired results and impactDidactically edited teaching units were developed. The teaching unit’s main topic is environment protection and the material focuses on enabling students to act responsibly with resources. Operational recommendations of action concerning environment protection were developed and.The challenge to work in a team cooperatively solving problems will result in an increase of motivation. The participants gained certainty in working with and handling innovative and modern technologies and methods. The exchange of experiences on a professional and a personal level formed the basis of understanding international points of view and helped the students to clarify and understand European and global structures. Working on this project and the topic of environment protection and sustainable solutions has sensitized students for the topic and has resulted in an increase of their professional competences concerning the project’s content. The presentation skills have improved by showing project results in public as well as in print media, on the radio, online (social media). As long-term benefit content-wise a comprehensive analysis of “recycling” took place and will continue. On the educational level students with special needs could be supported and widen their view. Concerning different learner-oriented methods, the activity-oriented work with all the products that were produced and the electronic media use included in the project motivated the learners. On the social level, the project work concentrated on the equality of opportunities respectively compensation of disparity and was able to include learners with different social backgrounds. On the European level, participants opened up and became more capableof changing their points of view.

"With the basic project idea ""Think Global Support Local"", we want to sharpen the awareness of the participants for a sustainable, healthy nutrition in this same project. The participants are supposed to reconsider their own consumption behavior by getting to know the added value of regional products. The project background or context can be derived from the following key questions:- Does it always have to be huge amounts or might less be better? (Quality vs. quantity)- Do we really need superfoods from far-away countries for a healthy diet, or do regional products provide the same nutrients? (Chia seeds versus flaxseed)- How can traditional, regional recipes help us with a sustainable, regional diet?- How can long transport routes be avoided?- How can I grow my own food in the smallest area?- How can food be preserved? Which traditional food preservation techniques do we still know?- What does traditional livestock farming look like compared to industrial livestock production? The project directly involves 110 students and 50 teachers from the 5 partner schools through participation in transnational learning activities. In addition, other students and teachers are involved in the project by developing the projects’ topics in the classroom. More participants also include the host families, local politicians, companies and the local press who take part in individual project activities. The project is designed to assist participants in the acquisition and development of basic skills and key competences. These include competencies in the areas of language, social learning, intercultural learning, team building, project management, methodology, didactics and documentation. As a joint project result, a project brochure is to be prepared which, in addition to the documentation of the course of the project, also provides didactic information on the implementation of individual activities and teaching materials via the TwinSpace ""Think Global Support Local"". The brochure is to be created as PDF and can thus be distributed well e.g. via email distributor (snow-ball system). eTwinning is integrated as a communication platform. The TwinSpace is used for data exchange and documentation. There are 6 conferences planned in the partner countries and in Belgium. These are based on global aspects - “Think Global”, which are prepared via eTwinning as Homework (HW). Based on this, the conference topics (CT) highlight the regional characteristics of the partner regions -""Support Local"". Like this, global consequences can be recorded and regional conclusions can be drawn, e.g. the avoidance of long transport routes through the use of regional products and recipes.1st Conference Germany (November 2019) - Minimizing the global footprintHW: comparison of global and regional food from and in the partner countries.CT: global footprint / awareness of the consequences of one's own consumption behavior. Visit of Dr. Oetker World.Urban Gardening: preparation of a planting campaign in the school garden ""Project Fruits"" / allotment garden culture in Germany. Objective: raising awareness of the global consequences of one's own actions / to show new ways.2nd Conference Italy (March 2020) - Laboratory test on quality analysisHW: follow-up of the 1st conference.CT: visit to the Barilla company in Cremona - subject ""Sustainability"", workshop at the University of Piacenza, scientific study on the quality of food (bio versus mass), laboratory experiments. Objective: raising awareness concerning the ingredients of food / quality analysis superfoods / regional products.3rd Conference Croatia (June 2020) - FiT ""Foods in Taste"": Edible plants / flowers in modern gastronomyHW: edible plants from all over the world / regionalCT: crops, harvest of first ""project fruits"", modern interpretation of traditional recipes. Objective: rediscovery of regional crops and recipes.4th Conference Spain (November 2020) - Healthy EcosystemHW: ecosystem balanceCT: Dehesa ecosystem / grazing areas for Iberico pigs. Objective: recognizing the importance of sustainability in livestock and crops farming for a healthy ecosystem.5th Conference France (March 2021) - Health and nutritionHW: global eating habitsCT: production and consumption of regional products in a globalized world using the example of the city of Albi, which aims at being self-sufficient by 2020. These meetings and exchanges will have developed communication and language skills to carry out a project. Working in collaboration with partners outside the school system, other organizations involved and parents will strengthen the social and cultural bond and will have set up an exchange dynamic, in order to demonstrate, when working collaboratively, solutions can be found. Art, as a way of communication and expression, will be understood and will continue to be used. Cultural crossbreeding will have shown its richness.Having worked in video conferencing will show that distances are no longer an obstacle to exchanges and will have awakened the desire to learn the language of others."
