HUBiquitous is an Innovation Action aiming at creating a joint Africa-Europe Startup & Innovation Ecosystem for long-term collaborations and partnerships. The project has the ambition to increase the technology level and capacity building of 30 local DIHs/TechHubs in 5 African countries. The project proposes highly innovative concepts called Innovation Enablers (i.e. Solution Lab, Application Business Box, and MeetHub online platform). The purpose of these enablers is to provide technical (e.g. IoT, AI, and BigData disruptive technologies) as well as entrepreneurial development skills to DIHs and startups/entrepreneurs. Thanks to these Innovation Enablers, the project will further demonstrate and build the local innovation and ecosystem capacity through 3 programs: (i) Talent program, building digital skills for local talents, (ii) Accelerator program, creating innovative applications and products and (iii) Community program, developing the Africa-Europe start-up and innovation communities. HUBiquitous Innovation Enablers and Programs will, therefore, support and empower the startup and entrepreneurship ecosystems from both continents with the development of a rich and sustainable collaboration between African and European DIHs. HUBiquitous consortium is composed of a partnership of Ten (10) entities, five European and five African, coming from nine different countries. It builds on the existing cooperation and partnership stemming from two previous H2020 ICT International Collaborations with Africa projects (WAZIUP and WAZIHUB). The ultimate target of HUBiquitous is to pave the way for long-term and sustainable innovation for the African DIHs.

We provide a model, framework and tools, including digital, to not only help companies of different size and stage of development connect but also to develop the skills, knowledge and competences of the personnel for Industry 4.0The results of our project develop new educational approach (by the platform), content and materials to foster collaboration and innovation management based on the new standards group CEN/TS 16555.The main project goal is to provide skill improvement opportunities to companies’ staff (managers and employees) in order to connect international start-ups, scaleups, and established companies operating in specific verticals with focus on modern technologies and innovation (Industry 4.0) through a robust model of collaboration under the paradigm of open innovation. In terms of the latter (OI) we focus on business-to-business collaboration as key target are start-ups, scale-ups from one side and mid-sized and large corporats - from another. The specific target group is the staff of both groups - companies in start/growth and established companies. We will target primarily mid- and upper level managers and secondary - employees - in innovation and collaboration roles.Upskilling lab 4.0. as it is revealed by the name aims to establish a model and conditions for collaboration in the Lab conditions for testing and developing innovations for two groups of businesses: in growth - start-ups and scale-ups and established - mid-sized and large. The projects will evolve through iteration cycles as we develop innovations and non-existing training products. The main results are the intellectual outputs with the intermediate results generated at the development steps (activities):O1 Screening model for collaborationO1/A1 Research phase O1/A2 Organisation of focus groups O1/A3 Synthesis report O1/A4 Definition of screening parameters O1/A5 Development of the model O1/A6 Verification and translation O2 Skills development framework O2/A1 Business-to-business open innovation O2/A2 Collaboration management framework O2/A3 Development of skills cards O2/A4 Framework development O2/A5 Verification and translation O3 Upskiling toolkits O3/A1 Training toolkit for start-ups/scale-ups O3/A2 Training toolkit for mid-sized and large companies O3/A3 Pilot testing O3/A4 Finalization and translation O4 Gamified platform O4/A1 Development of collaboration tools O4/A2 Development of collaboration games O4/A3 Beta testing O4/A4 Pilot testing O4/A5 Update and translations O5 Implementation guidelines O5/A1 Templates for data collection and testing O5/A2 Development of case studies and good practices O5/A3 Development of the guidelines O5/A4 Finalization and translation We will involve the target groups since the very beginning of the project during the research phase and the focus groups as O1/A1 and O1/A2.Managers and employees at: start-ups, scale-ups; mid-sized and large companies. We will organize 5 multiplier events - one in each country in months 22 and 24: four national events with 50 participants (200) and one international conference with 70 participants. - 270 in total. In mid- to long-term:- Beneficiaries of the results will be able to launch a new line of services and products for those who are already working in Industry 4.0 domain or plan to do so.- Overall innovation level within companies will increase- the screening model together with the skills development framework and the online games and tools can be used by a more users either as stand-alone results or as a complete package and transferred to other training organisations, business service providers, business associations, chambers of commerce. << Background >>In times of a more disruptive, complex, and dynamic world than ever experienced before, innovation is no longer a luxury, but a precondition for business survival. To tackle this innovation dilemma, forward-thinking established organizations are teaming up with fast, creative startups. However, the majority of European organizations and universities are not designed for corporate entrepreneurship and struggle to reap the benefits of co-innovation yet.<< Objectives >>Therefore, the Corship Knowledge Alliance set out to connect different players of the innovation ecosystem (startups, established organizations and universities) through innovative training and facilitation schemes (a MOOC, a MicroCredential, a digital toolbox) to enable them to better exploit the promising approach of co-innovation, which is an emerging dimension of corporate entrepreneurship. This shall create a joint language and understanding for the benefits and pitfalls of co-innovation.<< Implementation >>To this end, Corship has designed and implemented the first MOOC on Co-Innovation, building on 33 interviews and the experience of the 7 partners, representing different innovation ecosystem stakeholders across Europe. This was followed up with a MicroCredential pilot, a digital deep-dive for selected MOOC participants. A digital toolbox with the Co-Innovation Builder in its center facilitated the learners. All outcomes were implemented as planned and stay available beyond project lifetime.<< Results >>The project demonstrated significant impact and over-achieved its ambitious KPIs. The MOOC attracted more than +2.800 learners from the envisioned target groups with platform-all-time-high completion rates, interaction levels and course satisfaction. 43 learners received the opportunity for taking the MicroCredential and the toolbox draw +11.000 visitors. The learners created their own community and 11 collaboration agreements have been signed with organization for a sustainable uptake.

SEP 2.0 aims at supporting European scaleups ‘go to market’ by providing qualified opportunities. Specifically, the Consortium plans to address three specific areas: - Increase exits and support promising European tech scaleups to access IPO opportunities. - Match established companies with scaleups to generate revenue and enable commercial opportunities. - Expose to the international community of investors via reports, roadshows, and participations in international events. The Consortium will regularly scout and filter the most promising tech scaleups across Europe. The scaleups will be engaged in a set of activities that match their priorities and increase their access to new customers, the distribution of new products or services on the market, and increase the turnover. In order to engage the different stakeholders of the project (namely: scaleups, investors, and corporates) the Consortium aims at organizing 4 Scaleup Summit per year hosted by the main European stock exchanges. Selected scaleups will be invited to each event, together with a group of corporates and investors. The goals of the Scaleup Summit are listed below: - To prepare tech scaleups for opportunities such as exit and going public (IPO). - To increase strategic and commercial opportunities for scaleups by organizing business meetings with corporates. - To facilitate the access to finance for scaleups by organizing meetings and pitching with investors. - To help EU and international investors to gather and improve knowledge of investment opportunities. - To provide networking opportunities for corporates. Following the Scaleup Summit, a selected group of scaleups will enroll into programs to increase the chance of successful IPOs. Scaleups will be continuously assessed and engaged with new opportunities. Finally, a series of reports will be produced to inform on the status of the different European ICT ecosystems and disseminate results.
