"The project ""Autonomous Mothers: Measures and Strategies for Reconciling work and family life"" is a multilateral strategic partnership between 4 European countries (Spain, Italy, Croatia and Greece) whose goal, in addition to its specific objectives, is to enable the development of networks, increase the ability to work transnationally, share and exchange ideas, practices and methods. The consulted datas for these EU countries reveal a serious unemployment situation for women, low rates of activity and employment, worse contracts and working conditions, including bad salaries and little social protection.Following the EU 2020 strategy, which has among its main objectives the growth of the employment rate and the fight against poverty and marginalization, we will provide a valuable assistance to women-mothers, addressing the double problems of unemployment and the need for reconciling work and family life.Mothers who do not work and who suffer any degree of social discomfort are our main target group. The project has been designed, primarily, in order to increase employment and to promote cooperation and lifelong learning by developing skills such as ""entrepreneurship, digital skills and linguistic competences"".We will realize, therefore, a series of activities that will give the opportunity to women-mothers to acquire basic and transversal skills in order to have access to the field of entrepreneurship and have the possibility to start a home-based business. The project guarantees non-formal learning methodologies, where the partners, together with participants will identify the best practices, through a local field study, and will create a network to share experiences and to generate a constructive debate. This network of relationships will be supported by the website and the e-learning platform. The main innovation will be the training activities that aim to acquire the necessary skills for personal and professional fulfillment of our target group in a modern, contemporary and sustainable version, without losing sight of the new technologies that are emerging in recent years. It is, therefore, a new opportunity to intensify development and economy, in addition to the promotion of entrepreneurship and the creation of new domestic businesses. An important added value of the project, towards a stronger European cooperation, will be given by the presence of 2 participants per partner at the Dissemination Seminary (E1) of Madrid, where they will be given the opportunity to participate in round tables, exchange of experiences, opinions and ideas in an international context. All partners will participate in all project activities:1) PreparationActivities related to project management, dissemination, field study to identify local examples of success and good practices on business activities that can be realized at home.2) Training ActivitiesTraining Course for small groups of women-mothers (10 people per country);E-learning Training through an online learning space for all interested people and for those who are active in the employment promotion.3) Impact and Monitoring ActivitiesThe project expects a positive impact that will lead to an enrichment of the educational opportunities given to women-mothers looking for a job, in line with the socio-economic context of the area in which it is developed. Being a strategic partnership, every community in partners countries will benefit from this. In this way the dissemination of results and good practices of the project will have a positve impact also at an international level.4) Dissemination of resultsTo disseminate the Intellectual Products (Training Course and Methodological Guide) and all the project results across Europe, we will use a database of materials, brochures, partner websites and digital magazines with Open-source Licenses and also several events will be organized in the countries of each partner. There will be two transnational meeting and a Dissemination Seminar (E1).5) Evaluation.Under these considerations, the proposed project operates in line with the concept of ""sustainability"" thanks to our work for combating unemployment through the development of business activities that can be carried out directly from home. We strongly believe that MAMEC project is presenting ample and concrete opportunities to innovate and promote the creation of new jobs and to motivate women-mothers in following their desires of personal and professional development."

The background and context of the project is based on an international study about Adult competencies managed by Androulla Vassiliou, European commissioner and General Secretary of OCDE. The results of a survey conducted in 33 countries as part of the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) showed that 1 of 5 adults in Europe has low competences in reading, writing and calculating. On the one hand, young unemployed women are not fully aware of their fundamental rights and their non-formal competencies and there is often times a lack of autonomy among these women. However these women have grown up with information technologies and therefore have an easy access and related skills to ICT services. On the other hand, our female volunteer trainers have not the necessary competencies with the everyday use of ICT but they can share their life experiences as active citizens and transfer some of their non-formal pedagogic tools. Therefore our main objectives were: - Valorize civic competences of young NEET and migration women- Increase awareness of the fundamental rights, means of social prevention and active citizenship among young women- Exchange of best practices between trainers in non-formal education for adults (autobiographical method, valorization of basic competencies)- Reduce the intergenerational and gender gaps in ICT competencies- Increase awareness of the importance of digital inclusionThere were 6 participating organisations. "The experiences of young people in rural areas are somewhat different from those of their urban counterparts. This is confirmed when it comes to employment conditions and opportunities in the transition phase from school to work: rural labour markets record the lowest employment rate among young people (15-24 years old - Eurostat, 2017) and are characterised by low skilled and insecure employment. Unsurprisingly, this causes loss of human capital and geographical mobility (""brain drain"") to big cities, with serious consequences not only for youth but also for rural territories and the EU society as a whole (GDP loss, weakening of social cohesion, loss of human capital).OECD studies (2017) confirm there is substantial potential to combat youth unemployment and increase labour market participation by facilitating business creation. The ambitious and innovative objective of CRAFT project is to leverage on a number of real and perceived advantages which may attract people to live in/stay in EU rural areas, as confirmed also during the successfull Erasmus+ initiative ""Youth reworking rural"" (https://youthreworking.eu), thus promoting entrepreneurship among young people in EU rural areas by providing them the fundamentals to setup - within reconverted empty spaces - collaborative working environments which will be hinged on some of the key trends affecting the future labour market, namely the demographic change, the climate change and the technological change (see also the results of ""Future Time Traveller"" Erasmus+ project http://future-time-traveller.eu/). The core idea is to make those coworking spots act as future skills' propulsor engines rather than as aseptic work hangouts, around 3 sectors which are crucial towards the pursue of the European smart, sustainable and inclusive development:- personal care and health-related jobs and services;- green economy;- science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics STE(A)M.The project will be implemented by a complementary partnership composed by 7 organisations from 7 different EU countries. The initiative will be directly addressed to more than 50 young people (18-25 years old) of rural territories involved in the project, as well as to mentors, counsellors, co-working managers, who will be involved in specific activities. Moreover, the whole local socio-economic system and its relevant stakeholders will be positively impacted by the project. CRAFT Project, in order to materialise its objectives and produce its deliverables, comprises a set of intellectual outputs, one learning activity and several multiplier events , supported by management activities and dissemination and exploitation activities that will ensure the use of its results even after the project has ended. The C activity and multiplier events will constitute the core of the project as they will allow groups of young people to put ideas into practice; by creating collaborative workspaces for the future but virtually and as physical prototypes. Moreover, project foresees the production, use, evaluation and promotion of 4 intellectual outputs: IO1 - Training programme for builders of future-looking collaborative work environments in rural areas; IO2 - Educational 3D virtual world- CRAFT VW Platform; IO3 - E-book for a forward-looking management of coworking spaces; IO4 - Multi-actor territorial networks of policy change-makers. All intellectual outputs will be uploaded on the website and made available to target groups, partners, associate partners and external stakeholders during and beyond the life of the project. IO 2- Educational 3D virtual world will be open to customization in the form of expanding the pedagogical and learning tasks where new features and scripts can be implemented based on the openness of the underlying platform; while IO4 - Multi-actor territorial networks of policy change-makers will remain active and will be further expanded. Co-working spaces prototypes will remain visible to external stakeholders interested in further investing in co-working models. The dissemination activities will be designed ad hoc for the new virtual generation and to assure transferability and sustainability of products and results. Instragram, You Tube and the FB page will be the core of the dissemination strategy. Partners commit themselves to further invest in co-working creation and improvement and to create a bridge between young people and potential investors to make sure that, at least some of the ideas developed, could become real collaborative work spaces in the next future."
