The project reacts on present social and demographic trends, which cause new needs in the field of education of various social groups. On one hand there is the problem of rapidly ageing population in the whole Europe combined with a considerable change in relations within families. Family members are living further apart from each other and are losing their natural intergenerational composition. At the same time, the recent aggressive development of information and communication technologies (including the use of internet) very substantially contributes to the deepening of the intergenerational gap.Even though there are many policies, action plans etc. focusing on the issue of the intergeneration cooperation support, the main bearers of these activities (i.e. NGOs and volunteers) have at present no comprehensive and systematic methodology how to carry out such support. During the last years, there were implemented many projects in the field of the intergenerational cooperation support, however, they were limited from the territorial, content/activity or time point of view (often combined). The current intergenerational social and communication gap is a problem of the whole Europe, and therefore has to be solved on an international level. The main project objective is, therefore, to develop a new educational programme in the field of intergenerational cooperation support that will provide the target group (volunteers) with a complex methodology how to efficiently provide their services. The project will provide the volunteers across Europe with a systematic approach modern tools (Activity register) do start and develop their activities in the field of intergenerational cooperation support with various social/age group (pre-school children + seniors, school children/youth + seniors, adults in productive age + seniors, adults over 55 + seniors or little children etc.)The project will be implemented by a consortium composed of 5 entities from 5 different countries. All the members of the partnership are either NGOs or educational institutions. All of them are at present active in the field of intergenerational cooperation support. A lot of the partners have already implemented projects (national/international) focusing on the field of intergenerational cooperation support. There will be supported approximately 372 participants, from which there are:- volunteers (TtT activities, pilot testing) – ca 120 persons - secondary target group (people using services of institutions, e.g. senior houses, kindergartens, primary schools, other educational institutions, community houses etc.) – ca 90 persons- other stakeholders (dissemination activities) – 162 personsThe project implementation will consist of the following activities:1) Analysis of the state of the art 2) Development of a new educational programme (incl. the Activity register which will be accessible online on the newly established online portal)3) Train the trainers (TtT) activities4) Pilot testing and evaluation of the developed programme 5) Multiplier events and dissemination6) Project managementThere will be 2 main results created within the project, namely:1) a comprehensive analysis of the state of the art in all the 5 partner countries2) a new educational programme in the field of intergenerational cooperation support using, among others, modern ICTs as tools as methodology aidsThe long-term project’s impact:The new methodology will continue to be spread across the partner countries of the project (to new volunteers and organisations). At the same time, there will take place several trainings in the other European countries which will enable to extend the methodology also to these regions. The level of intergenerational cooperation will increase not only in partner countries, but also in other European countries, where the methodology will be spread.

"""The project intends to affirm the role of young people in enhancing the European memory, to rediscover the values of democracy, coexistence, social justice, as founding values of the European Union.""THE REMOVAL OF MEMORY: A GREAT RISK FOR EUROPEIn the last two centuries, Europe has experienced epochal historical events: two world wars; the extermination of Jews and other ethnic and cultural minorities; the affirmation of Europe itself as the world's only political entity; the iron curtain; the end of communism; the political revolutions of the 70s; the feminist movement; the struggles for work and welfare; the struggles for democracy; internal migrations and mass migrations to other non-European countries; etc…All this, although it is part of the recent history of Europe, is often relegated outside the public discourse, and also outside our conscience as inhabitants of Europe. The oblivion of the memory of European history and the removal of the memories of the individual stories that constitute it, unfortunately also leads to a forgetting in the founding values of Europe. This weakening of European values, together with the economic, environmental and employment crisis, has contributed greatly to the distrust of young people in politics and in active participation in European society. THE YoMEM PROJECTThe project “Young Messengers of European Memory – YoMEM”, wants to affirm a vision of memory not as a mere nostalgic memory of a past, but as a tool aimed to enhance awareness of who we are, as individuals and as a community, in order to recover the sense of a better and possible future; YoMEM project wants, as well, support the important role that young people can play in this profound cultural action. To this end, the project will create tools and methodologies aimed at developing a greater awareness of young Europeans of different ages and social backgrounds, about European Identity and values. The aim of these tools and educational activities is to make young people become ""messengers"" of the positive values on which Europe was founded: democracy, intercultural dialogue, social justice.OUR TARGETThe YoMEM project is aimed at a target consisting of:-Youth workers, with particular attention to operators working with young people in informal contexts; at the same time the methodologies and tools are also useful for school teachers, as well as in general for organizations that deal with educational activities for young people.-Young people, both as an indirect and direct target, thanks to the piloting activities that will be carried out by the project.- Youth education organizations, and decision makers.OUTPUTS AND ACTIVITIESThe project will create the following outputs: IO1 – YoMEM Workshops - Focused on the narration and sharing of personal experiences related to the theme of Europe. IO2 – YoMEM - Cooperative Storytelling Activities by DistanceAs anticipated, these activities will allow young people from different European countries to cooperate together by distance, creating narratives that relate to the different themes of the project.IO3 - YoMEM Tutorials, which will see the creation of tutorials about the narration methodologies, in video format intended for direct use by young people .IO4 - YoMEM App, an app to facilitate the narration of young people in Europe, with a particular focus on the theme of European identity. The APP will be based on the methods and the educational activities defined in IO1 and IO2.IO5 – YoMEM Blended Training Module. Purpose of the course is to train youth workers, as ""multipliers"" on autobiographical and storytelling methodologies.IO6 – YoMEM Massive Open Online Course – This output will provide the contentsof O4 and the methods of IO5 as Massive Open Online Course. The activities foreseen by the project are:-4 transnational coordination meetings;-local and transnational activities for the realization of intellectual outputs;-creation of a joint staff training event, for the staff of partner organizations, dedicated to the development of intellectual outputs;-realization of a blended mobility of young people;-implementation of local piloting activities, aimed at testing the methodologies created by the project;-realization of multiplier events.IMPACT The project will give an important contribution at national and European level regarding:-to affirm the role of young people in enhancing the European memory, to rediscover the values of democracy, coexistence, social justice, as founding values of the European Union.-To promote a culture of memory as a key to understand our present and plan our future.-To promote the active engagement of young people for the social fabric by memory, thanks to the project tools, and to the network “Young Messengers of European Memory”.The project will achieve this impact at the level of youth workers, of young people, as well as at the level of youth education organizations and decison makers."
