These training materials have covered a wide range from the basics of digitalization, computational thinking and using everyday examples to develop algorithms (targeted to non-digital users) to the actual development of code through the use programming languages and through the use of specific tools and games targeted to coding with children. The developed materials will help users improve their digital and transversal skills and their ability to support their children in the use of ICT. According to the “The Survey of Adult Skills” (EC-PIAAC) the function of adult education should be to support economic growth and competitiveness, assure inclusive and equitable development, provide socio-economic benefit, but also individual benefits, in terms of personal and professional development, empowerement, adaptability, employability and active participation in society. This is exactly what the present project has done, by promoting coding education among European adult learners and by working together with international activities such as code-week.org . The EDUCODE consortium has operated under the principle that coding education is not only about equipping the current and next generation to work as software engineers, it is about promoting computational thinking, i.e. a problem solving method that uses computer science techniques. It combines mathematics, logic and algorithms, and teaches a new way to think about the world. The direct target group is composed of adult people of any age and status, workers, parents, retired. However, the development of contents and tools has catered for the needs of specific sub-groups, such as women (trough the case studies provided) by ECWT, men and young adults. Representatives of the end-beneficiaries, about 200 per country, 1000 in total, have been involved in several stages of the project: during the initial in-depth analysis of adult learners attitude to coding, in the delivery and assessment of the training and in the framework of demonstration events. Moreover, the partners will organise local contests to stimulate participation and creativity.Indirect target groups are the stakeholders that can exploit the results in different contexts and have been reached mainly through dissemination and exploitation activities: Each partner has developed further contacts both within the time-frame and after the training and educational centres, schools, civil society organisaitons, public authorities and decision-makers. They can use the platform, contents and games to organise courses and events on coding education, to train teaching staff or to promote digital learning towards policy-makers. Thanks to dissemination activities, the knowledge of the project has reached more than 5.000 people and 2000 organisations. The main tangible result has been an interactive, multifunctional and multilingual platform for adult coding education. The user-friendly platform hosts contents targeted to the users. Moreover, the training path offers quizzes for assessment of the acquired knowledge and also practical exercises and gadgets to be used with children and teenagers, so as to favour intergenerational learning. The expected result was to promote digital learning and key competences of adult people in Europe, in line with the Agenda for Adult Learning, set up by the European Commission. As for intangible expected results in the medium and long term, the foreseen outcomes are the following:•Improvement of personal skills and motivation of adult learners through coding education•Favouring active participation and better understanding of the digital world we live in •Improved professional opportunities as basic coding skills is also needed for many jobs, plus it helps developing transversal skills such as problem solving that are needed in any job (including the basics of digital skills)•Favouring the promotion of non-formal and informal learning among adult people usually excluded from mainstream and traditional education pathways.• Improved intergenerational learning and safer usage of ICT by kids and adults. By using the practical tools to code and play on coding with their children, parents have the opportunity to teach their kids the basics of computer programming, be more prepared in supporting their children homework, play a more active role in assisting their kids when using technology devices. The project is implemented by a consortium of 7 partners from 5 European countries (SP, IT, GR, PL, NO), including foundations, schools, adult education providers, civil society organisations, software house and university.

Specifically, they will have a leading role in the European Digital single market as underlined in the “Start-ups and the Digital Single Market final report”. However, most entrepreneurs lack of the knowledge and skills required to effectively develop and manage their company. The solutionThe B-Capp project develops an open, all-inclusive training program for financial planning/management of start-ups comprising the smart use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to reduce the operating costs and cross border business activity leading to increase competitiveness and result to less business failures. After the completion of training, all participants in B-CAPP will be able to retain and improve their knowledge and skills, acquire new high-quality skills and continue their personal and professional development by implementing the recommended strategies. The target groupThe project foresees the following target groups:- Female/Male entrepreneurs, mainly aged 18-35 - Professionals dealing with management aspects of start-ups - VET training organizations, universities, trainers already providing entrepreneurship, financial management, eBusiness/eCommerce, ICT related training or looking to introduce such a training offering, business mentors, coaches- SME chambers, Business Innovation Centers, business incubation clusters, entrepreneurship associations, public officials responsible for entrepreneurship/growth/VET.Main objectiveThe specific purpose of the proposed project is to help entrepreneurs improve their skills and knowledge in financial management (e.g. Entrepreneurial Finance, Cash flow management & Basic accounting concepts, etc.) and smart use of ICT/eBusiness for reducing operating costs and generating revenues (eg. Cash flow automation tools, eTendering, eCommerce, etc.).The objective is to address financial management concepts in direct relation to the adoption of proven ICT practices and tools as smarter use of ICT drives revenues and reduces operating costs. Sustainable financial management cannot be isolated from uses of ICT.The partners The partnership comprises 8 partners from 7 countries. A software development company, an educational technology and knowledge dissemination company, two higher education institutes active in entrepreneurial training and support, 2 VET training consultancies with ECVET expertise and a foundation all active in entrepreneurial VET and a regional development agency specialized in the field of internationalization and training of companies. MethodologyThe project started with a comparative analysis of the current state of play between financial and e-Business practices implemented by start-ups in partner countries and winning practices in countries outside the partnership (Germany, Sweden, Poland). The aim of the analysis was to identify the actual needs of the target group in order to form a training program tailored to them. The next step was the validation of the needs by representatives of the direct target group in order to address and describe the learning outcomes for the Financial Sustainability Manager profile. The training methodology and strategies recommended for the start-ups are based on the validated needs.Upon the results, the partnership developed an action-based course materializing the strategies and supporting their implementation in real working environments. To that end, nine modules were created comprising specific actions linked to ECVET points in relation with the learning outcomes defined in the validation phase.Together with the Financial Strategy Genie, a personalized tool delivering the action-based course in all partner languages, the Skills Retention Service, was deployed with re-modeled actions complementing the training program.ResultsThe outcomes of B-CAPP comprise the: - Financial Check Course (FCT): instructor led and e-Learning - Financial Strategy Genie: personalisation of training paths - Learning Motivation Environment: skills retention functionality - ECVET tools for the Financial Sustainability Manager for Start-ups Long-term benefits With the support of B-CAPP Academy, a virtual space developed for sustainability of the training program, entrepreneurs will be in position to implement financial management strategies at their business which will ensure sound financial management, reduction of operating costs, increase of revenues through eBusiness resulting to less business failures.

It was agreed that e-leadership should be a core component of the support we offered to MEs. As a consortia, we undertook initial research in the form of a survey shared across all six countries. The findings of this research informed the content of the online platform units. In addition, we undertook a literature review of the current academic and professional articles in order to further identify the gaps in knowledge for MEs.Micro-enterprises were identified as the end-users for this particular project in recognition of the lack of specific digital transformation support targeted at this demographic. Furthermore, DiTEM built on previous studies and initiatives promoted by the EC which focussed on e-leadership skills for SMEs rather than MEs.Objectives We developed an e-learning platform in order to transfer knowledge and understanding of digital solutions to the MEs in a user-friendly and easily accessible manner. The platform provides an introduction to digital technologies. As a consortia we agreed that due to the nature and pace of technology development, the platform should be an explanatory rather that instructional platform. In doing so, we have ensured that this is accessible to MEs of all levels. At the end of each unit we provided signposting tools that they could adopt in order to start exploiting this form of digital transformation. The VET DITEM Manager coaching element to the programme was developed to complement the online platform, allowing the trainer to utilise aspects of the platform that are relevant to the MEs they are working with. This was a deliberate decision in order to address disparity in levels between MEs across the six countries. For instance, it was advised very early in the project that MEs in Bulgaria were at a significantly different level of adoption to those in the UK and Finland, therefore would be likely to utilise different aspects of the platforms to start their digital transformation journey. The combined format of the online platform and DiTEM coach has worked well and is a format we will continue to use post-project funding. Participating organisations At initial survey stage, we engaged with 224 businesses, from these 157 also took part in the pilot phase. The demographic was predominantly MEs (1-10 employees), however in Denmark they expanded the demographic to also include identified businesses with up to 20 employees, as it was felt that within that country the concerns they had mirrored those of MEs'. Description of undertaken main activitiesAs outlined above the activities undertaken consisted of: - Initial survey to establish a baseline of understanding of the technologies amongst MEs across the six countries. The results of the survey helped to inform the level and depth of the content. - The next stage consisted of developing the online platform and the content for the individual units. We then trained 15 DiTEM coaches to complement the online platform through VET training. These coaches subsequently trained further trainers. - Once the pilot platform was ready for testing we undertook the pilot workshop phase of the project, which included each country delivering training to MEs and helping them develop a digital transformation plan. Results and impactAs highlighted, we took the decision to have two key components to the project: face to face coaching and an online platform. The online platform provides an overview of the technologies available but not specific training on using the technologies- being too prescriptive would date the platform before it was even launched. From the workshops we have gained information about the needs from MEs and have compared with the results from the EU project LEAD, which analysed leadership skills for SMEs. In this project it is obvious that there is major difference between SMEs of 15 employees and SMEs with 200 employees. It appeared that the smaller SMEs had the same or similar challenges as the MEs. It therefore seemed sensible to limit future projects to MEs. Based upon the experience gained we identified key policy recommendations: - Training format for further training of MEs - Development of an ME platform – offering overview of tools, consultancy companies and technologies for MEs (and potentially SMEs) - A repository of activities across Europe that support digital transformation
