EUROSUCCESS CONSULTING LIMITED,BANK OF CYPRUS CULTURAL FOUNDATIONFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2021-1-CY01-KA220-SCH-000032562Funder Contribution: 219,690 EUR<< Background >>The i-SCHOOL project contributes to the wider recognition of the social and educational value of European cultural heritage by setting, as a primary goal, to foster the knowledge and increase awareness of teachers and students regarding cultural heritage through formal and non-formal settings.Findings from the 2017 Special Eurobarometer report on cultural heritage that was the first EU-wide survey on the topic, revealed that in Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Turkey, between 88% and 96% of the respondents believe that cultural heritage has a crucial role to play in education and should be taught in schools; 44% of all respondents consider that schools should do more to protect Europe’s cultural heritage. However, there is a lack of official European surveys and statistics targeted at students’ appreciation and participation in sites of cultural interest, something that highlights the necessity for developing centralized initiatives and practices for actively engaging schools in cultural heritage. The partnership consists of six organizations from five Mediterranean and South European countries (Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Spain). The partners and the project countries were involved in the proposal because it was identified that they, their networks, collaborators and end-users face similar challenges and needs and have similar perceptions of the impact of cultural heritage on school education. The project aims to address these needs directly and provide innovative, complementary and diverse material in integrating cultural heritage in school education. It will also strengthen the capacity of the partner organisations on promoting cultural heritage through digital tools in schools.<< Objectives >>The aim of the project is to increase primary and secondary school teachers’ capacity in integrating cultural heritage for the development of creative teaching practices through an interdisciplinary approach and the use of digital technology as well as NFE methods. The project will lead the development of a tailor-made educational programme suitable both for teachers and students aged 10-15, which will include an Online Course with digital and non-digital resources, an e-learning platform, a Cultural Heritage Toolkit with class sessions and an innovative Digital Educational Game. The specific objectives of the project are:• Increase the capacity of primary and secondary school educators to integrate cultural heritage in everyday school practices and learning through a series of digital and interactive tools and NFE methods•Increase knowledge and awareness of students and teachers on Europe’s common cultural heritage•Develop relationships/synergies between schools, cultural institutions, youth NGOs other related bodies for the development of educational sessions in and out of the school setting.<< Implementation >>The project implementation is divided into the following 5 main activities: Activity 1: Management and Coordination (led by EUROSC)Activity 2: Design, Development & Capacity buildingActivity 3: Pilot Testing and Fine-tuning (led by Antalya Il Milli Egitim)Activity 4: Promotion, Dissemination and Exploitation activities (led by p-consulting)Activity 5: Quality control, Monitoring and Evaluation (led by EUROSC)<< Results >>The project partners will develop four main project results: 1. i-SCHOOL Online Course for Primary and Secondary School Teachers: The aim of the online course is to equip primary and secondary school teachers with basic skills and competences regarding cultural heritage and increase opportunities for collaborative activities with cultural and creative institutions. 2. i-SCHOOL Cultural Heritage Toolkit: The Toolkit is complementary to the online course and is a Training Package with educational sessions (including good practices from all partner countries) regarding cultural heritage and education.3. E-Learning Platform: The e-learning platform will be the technical infrastructure that will form the basis for the organisation of the e-learning courses. Teachers and experts will be trained on its use, share materials, exchange ideas and knowledge. The platform will be adapted in such a way to allow free access to everyone and fit the needs of the target group and maintained for 5 years after the project’s completion. 4. Digital game “Cultural Warriors”: an interactive educational game for students with virtual cultural routes and questions. The content will be mainly related to the sessions developed under PR2, where students will gain knowledge on cultural heritage and its preservation. The partnership will organize and carry one common training activity addressed to experts, trainers and teachers to prepare them for working with the above-mentioned project results. The activity will take place in Cyprus and will last 5 days.As soon as all project results are ready, one national dissemination event will be organized in every project country (at least 30 participants per event) to disseminate the project results. A final project conference will take place in Cyprus, with the support and involvement of all partners, in which 40 participants will attend.

However, the conception and the breadth of arts and culture curricula vary in education for professions in the field of Fine Arts. In particular, a new focus on creativity (in relation to its importance in innovation and entrepreneurship) and cultural education (in relation to both individual identity and promoting intercultural understanding) is apparent in the goals of vocational education and training. This raises questions about the ability of the arts and culture curriculum in VET to fulfil such diverse and wide-ranging aims. On the other hand, teaching the arts and culture to a high standard is challenging. Teachers who teach the arts and culture subjects in VET play a fundamental role in developing the creative skills. There is the need for continuing professional development, to enable arts teachers to update their knowledge and develop their skills.Utilising the momentum created by the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage, InART2DiverCity project aims to develop new and effective approaches, methods and materials to introduce/reinforce European Cultural Heritage and intercultural learning, with the view to enhance the skills and employability of young adults (age group 18-30) in the creative sectors, as well as the professional skills of trainers (train-the-trainers). InART2DiverCity proposes the following intellectual outputs:1. Research and evaluation analysis of educational and training needs for the specific sector and consolidated report;2. Development of Alternative Pedagogical Methodology & Training practices to train the trainers; 3. Development of training seminars for young VET students; and 4. Creative applications and pilot testing for the re-use of cultural heritage. Essential for the project is the idea of “smart culture”. The intention is to propose ways in which Principles of Cultural Heritage can be taught through ICT tools contributing to the idea of a smart culture. InART2DiverCity project strategic partnership includes countries that have suffered the most from the economic crisis and austerity measures (Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Slovenia and Spain), while at the same time have undergone extreme pressure from the high influx of immigrants. Inevitably, this project will approach communities of young students / artists with fewer opportunities including young people with cultural differences; in long-term unemployment; young people facing discrimination; young people from remote and rural areas; as well as young art students and art professionals with physical, sensory disabilities.Young students 18-30 studying Fine Arts will be trained in an innovative and creative way, to learn how to employ teaching methods tailored to the teaching of Art and Cultural Heritage, with respect to cultural diversity and through the promotion of cultural awareness. They will have the opportunity to receive international training, experience foreign training and education systems, harvesting new methods, demonstrate their work and exchange knowledge with their European colleagues. The planned training activities will provide them with knowledge on cultural diversity of the European countries aiming to expand their professional horizons. Their involvement is expected to motivate them to influence more young people as they are experts to spread the word to youth network for the need of skills enhancement. Fine Arts Trainers through the “train-the-trainers” activities, will gain important professional experience on how to use innovative methods that foster the cultural awareness of the trainees and the positive value of cultural diversity. The project long term benefits are summarised as follows:• Bringing together young people and young local artists from different culture, abilities and beliefs, enhancing their creativity and developing a cultural map with common points;• Facilitating participation in learning contexts by local arts practitioners and the inclusion of local art forms and techniques in learning processes in order to strengthen local cultures and identity; • Facilitating cooperation between educational institutions, local authorities, experts, so as to enable them to share transmitting cultural values and local art forms; • Providing assistance to enable Fine Arts trainers to harness technological developments which will enable Arts and Cultural Heritage Education to reach marginalized groups, and facilitate the creation of innovative knowledge products and the sharing of knowledge; • Supporting ongoing professional development of young workers and artists, in order to develop an appreciation of cultural diversity and enable them to develop their potential to create, critique and innovate; • Encouraging and promote the development of art practices through digital media.

The ReInHerit project is proposing a very innovative model of sustainable heritage management, through which a dynamic network will be born; this network comprised of cultural heritage professionals, innovation and cultural heritage solution tech experts, researchers, national museums, regional and local museums, and representative managers of Heritage Label sites. ReInHerit is also supported externally, by relevant municipalities, regional and local museums, which will also enhance the communication and cooperation of the cultural heritage sector across the EU and beyond. The ReInHerit proposed model will be based on the development of a digital cultural heritage ecosystem, where all the key stakeholders (museums, heritage sites, policy makers, professionals and communities) will have an open and collaborative space to experiment, share and innovate. This will be achieved through the creation of an innovative Digital Hub. Tools and resources (on training, tourism, conservation, preservation, knowledge creation, content use/reuse, illicit trafficking of goods) necessary for sustainable management will be shared through the digital platform that will host the ecosystem. This ecosystem will also be the experiential open-ended space that will support and generate entrepreneurial initiatives, knowledge produced through co-creation, curation of digital content and visitor experiences. The proposed work plan includes a variety of key activities that will enable the collaboration of museums and cultural heritage sites, real-time.
