The ‘Keep in Touch: Make Tourism Sustainable’ project has arisen from the desire, on behalf of all partner countries, to take action towards giving our young people the skills they need to create a sustainable future in a global world. The five communities involved in this project are located in seats of natural and cultural beauty, and so sustainable tourism is the perfect way to incite interest in the future of individual native territories as well as on the importance of a united Europe. In fact, partner communities are either already dependant on the tourism industry for their economies or have the potential of creating a sustainable tourism enterprise. For this reason, it is important for our European youths to learn how tourism can implement the sustainable development goals by learning from one and other as well as from teacher-experts and local NGOs who are passionate about their work and communities. The main aim of this project is to focus upon sustainable education and raise awareness of the environment and climate change. By introducing such an important topic into our curriculums, we aim to foster inclusive education and encourage a systematic and long-term learning perspective involving the whole school and even whole communities. Additionally, it will help overcome barriers and strengthen ties among partner countries and thus facilitate integration and communication within the European community itself. Moreover, it will cultivate learners' sense of initiative and sustainability as one of the key competences that is an EU and UNESCO concern and to make the formal and non-formal learning environment life more relevant for their personal and professional lives. In sum, the project aims to:1. Involve young people into positive sustainability and cultural activities of the country, to acquire students with skills for sustainability awareness initiatives in the world of Tourism, to enable access to the traditions, changes in the region, country, the European Union and the world;2. Provide varied knowledge needed for sustainability awareness;3. Educate sustainability, creativity, responsibility, diligence, integrity, achievement of the objective values needed for a responsible citizenship;4. Present the professional courses as a valuable alternative in which young people can not onlyachieve various competences but also, conclude their compulsory education and create conditionsfor a transition to working life.Partners from Italy, Greece, Romania, Croatia and Turkey were selected from previous Erasmus+ partnerships as well as from the eTwinning platform and the target group are students aged between 14 to18. Activities will be varied and focalised on sustainability. Firstly, all partners will use eTwinning as their central platform where they will plan and organise all activities as well as communicate and record all steps taken. Teaching/learning activities will be organized so students will work together in multinational and multidisciplinary groups. The creation of a single group, with members from different countries, cultures, genders, religions, and social and economic conditions, will work on transnational themes using eTwinning using a task-based learning perspective that will create an authentic community of practice, involving different strategies and methods with the same goal. The skills and competences that students acquire will be useful in different contexts nowadays and in future mobilities and experiences within Europe or worldwide where might find employees/employers from different cultures and different working conditions and methods.During the project a few final products will be prepared:1. An eBook and hardcopy creating an assembly of the research done by students throughout the project. It will include the best local, regional, national sustainable tourism practices;2. Commercials/advertisements/brochures about: local/ regional/ national sustainable hotspots and the tourism sustainability situation in each country;3. Sustainable tourism e-dictionary in partners’ languages. For educational purposes all the materials will be free and open to everyone. As a result, this partnership will not only help our learners to develop spoken skills in foreign languages and build their European citizenship but will raise their future social inclusion opportunities as well.Teachers involved will be given the opportunity to develop their language skills and learn from the teaching practices related to their subjects in the partner countries, how to incorporate innovative digital and ICT teaching tools in their practices and the value of task-based learning and social-constructive teaching methods. Moreover, partner communities will be better educated and informed on sustainability and the industry of sustainable tourism.

Each of the partner schools has recognised a group of students, mainly between the ages of 15 and 18, who they see as vulnerable and at risk of social exclusion. This group includes students who have so far performed poorly in education, live in isolated areas or in difficult family circumstances and/or have difficulties with language and communication. The partner schools believe that these students have a great deal of potential which has not yet been realised often because of their particular circumstances. The object of this project is to inspire these students through a range of teaching and learning approaches and activities based around the skills and expertise of the partner schools. The activities will be practical in their nature and include film making, role play, cooking, adventure learning, music and developing spatial intelligence. It is hoped that by focusing on these students, and engaging them in meaningful and challenging activities, this will result in a more positive experience and engagement with their schools and in education more generally. Greater engagement should also lead to improved attendance at school, higher aspirations and finally academic success and qualifications. More widely, the intention of the project is to allow students from different countries and backgrounds to meet, interact and develop greater understanding and empathy. This intention was the inspiration behind the choice of the name of the project, ‘Walking in the shoes of others’. In the longer term it is intended that this project will raise the profile of vulnerable groups within their schools and their needs will be better understood and met. It is hoped that this project will ensure that the future strategic plans of schools will always recognise and consider the needs of the vulnerable groups they are responsible for.

It is widely recognized throughout the European Union that future growth and prosperity needs to be driven by the business sector. The growth of the small business sector is seen as a vital to future wealth creation and employment. Therefore, entrepreneurial skills are essential if we are to prepare our students to be successful in their future careers. Many may create their own businesses, others will work for already established companies. In either case the ability to be entrepreneurial and enterprising is an essential or highly sort after skill. The main objective of the project is to help develop young entrepreneurs and wealth creators of the future. Over the life of the project they will create a business plan for a new product or service. In the home countries students from a variety of backgrounds will be invited to create a company. This business will include between 10-15 students who will take on different roles depending on their interests and qualities. Each company will be led by a managing director. Initially the students will learn about different types of businesses, aims and objectives and business ethics. The meetings in the partner countries will provide help and expertise in the different aspects of their plan (using the help and support of fellow students, teachers and business people). The students will also be encouraged and required to consider the social impacts of their plan and show they have a firm understanding of ethical business practices. At the final meeting of the project the students will present their final, completed business plan to an audience of invited guests, including members of the business community. As well as developing skills and knowledge the intention of the project is to enthuse and motivate students to become entrepreneurs. The students will learn 'by doing' and use these skills to create their own businesses or take them into their employment. It may also be the case that students may wish to continue working on their business and bring the product or service to the marketplace. The business plan will be the launchpad for their own business.

"In order to create the European Citizen Profile that values what to do for people and for the planet towards a sustainable Europe, six secondary schools from Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey with different backgrounds, but with common interests and concerns prepared the strategic partnership ""YES"" involving students aged between 14 and 18 years old in each school.By improving working methods, exchanging methodologies and sharing good practices this partnership aims to change the risky behaviour of youngsters in their daily lifestyle (bad eating habits, sedentary life, addictions); wrong attitude against people of different race, sexual inclination or different cultures; indifference and low integration towards youth with disability and indifference about essential and priority environmental issues. This is a global project divided into six related main topics: Health and Sports; Cultural Heritage; Language, Ideals and Mentalities; E-Citizenship; Sustainable Green Cities (environmental issues); Tolerance. A diverse variety of activities related to the six topics will be promoted by the schools using informal and non-formal methods. The project will be lead and developed by two main working teams composed of teachers and students that will promote, organise and disseminate the activities in each school. Two types of learning, teaching and training activities will be included in the project: short-term joint staff training events where teachers will have training courses concerning the project theme and also study visits combining on-site visits to relevant organisations, presentations, and discussion workshops and short-term exchanges of groups of pupils that will give students the opportunity to experience international learning, reinforce their understanding of the diversity of European cultures and languages, develop new skills and competences necessary for their personal development and deepen each topic with special activities.DEOR planning for this project has been studied to give a high level of involvement inside and outside the organisations involving multiple stakeholders. The E-twinning platform will be our privileged common online database of experiences that will allow the intensive cooperation among all schools involved during and after the project as well as the dissemination of our experiences, activities and results. The specific goals are to share experiences and to adapt learning programmes and teaching strategies in the participating schools considering sport practice, outdoor physical activities, healthy lifestyle education, cultural heritage values preservation, increase of environmental awareness, development of different languages, and change of mentalities, all through inclusion and integration. We intend to improve the way of looking at diversity as a chance to improve themselves and others, discuss how different countries cope with social inclusion and equal opportunities, fostering integration and equal rights. Participants will be taught the importance of tolerance and non-discrimination, overcoming all forms of discrimination, and developing the feeling of belonging to one European community."

The completed project “Recording Our Training Experiences in Documentaries” was dedicated to the field of tourism. In this project students from different cultures and studying in different educational systems in Europe worked together. All participating schools are located in the areas where tourism has important role in each country’s economy. The project originated as a need to improve our everyday classroom work and a way to motivate the students in informal learning through new and innovative teaching methods and approaches in order to gain new skills needed in the tourist industry and at the same time to get the students engaged in extracurricular activities. The topic of the project was making footage and documentaries related to tourism and youth oriented. The project was aimed at young people who wanted to boost and benefit from their creativity, potential and ambition. It was intended to promote the benefits of IT and digital competences. The project main aim was improving ICT and digital technology skills of both the students and the teachers, to enrich their knowledge of a wider European environment through the use of IT and digital technology. ICT and digital technology were used to create youth-oriented documentary films about tourist regions of their countries with emphasis on the country's heritage, traditions, customs on one hand and things to do for young people on the other hand. Realistic ICT goals were set up, which were students-oriented in order to present their culture, tourist attractions and sights in the eye of young people. One of the objectives of the project was to improve the skills of our students, especially of weaker students with low basic skills and motivate them to acquire skills and knowledge through the process of learning from experience and peer learning. It also aimed to provide an opportunity for stronger students to achieve more and use their talents and skills out of the classroom and at the same time get a unique experience that could be gained only by participating in such a project on European level. One of the goals of the project was to motivate the students through informal learning, to stimulate students through doing and creating to achieve more The target groups of participants were young students, teachers and non-teaching staff in participating schools. All our partners were skilful in various fields like business management, tourism and catering, marketing, foreign languages, history, geography, entrepreneurship, ICT, multimedia design, recreation, hospitality service, communication and dissemination, event organization, agriculture as a source of tourist income. Before the actual project activities took place Erasmus+ Route Docs Clubs were formed at each partner school. The activities undertaken throughout the project were innovative, creative and student-oriented. Our students had a chance to prove themselves in extracurricular tasks in addition to their regular lessons. Most of the project activities were done in schools through involving them in the school curriculum and also through extra-curricular activities. The possibility to participate in various learning, teaching and training activities with European peers was an invaluable opportunity to learn from practical experience. For example, exploring a town or a city, exploring flora and fauna of our national parks, visits to different institutions to get to know how they operate, and factories to see the process of production of things important for the tourist industry. The results of our completed project are different accomplished activities that resulted in 25 documentaries that all introduce our regions and share our experiences while working together. Participating in the project enabled the students to develop their basic and transversal skills, with highlight on entrepreneurship in the tourist industry and improving ICT and digital technology skills. The project promoted the EU Citizenship, enabled all the participants to improve their European awareness and intercultural understanding by experiencing life in another country, observing and noticing cultural differences and similarities; it boosted cooperation between students from other countries. The impact of the project at the local, regional, national, European or international levels is its recognition as a promotional tourist material that can be used in high schools or other educational organizations, in tourist offices for introducing destinations chosen by youth.
