Being aware of this European Commission has set climate and energy package also known as 20-20-20 energy targets. To take actions towards this threat is a responsibility of the schools in this partnership as well as all European Union citizens. According to the surveys carried in 6 partner schools from different European countries, the main common weakness of the schools is the students’ negative attitudes to overuse of energy, overconsumption within households and being insensitive to the environmental issues which are due to the lack of education in ecological patterns. Moreover the students have difficulty in reading and interpreting graphs, being fluent to communicate in English and using ICT and creative problem-solving skills. The teachers need to improve their teaching competence in these matters by exchanging ideas and good practices. Having reached these results, the partner schools have come together to implement this project, ""Eco Thinking For Eco Living"". Our main aim is to help the participants acquire new skills and competences and strengthen their profile. Our objectives are to equip them with scientific knowledge about environmental issues and to raise their awareness about the importance of energy saving, to increase their creative thinking skills by working in international teams and making decisions, to highlight the renewable energy resources thus to make them more responsible for common European heritage, to deepen the participant's' knowledge of the various ways of protecting environment in European countries, to make the participants gain digital fluency and while searching for relevant data, to enrich students' technical and scientific vocabulary using graphs/diagrams and discussing the results, to enhance students and teacher's English language competence by working on the environmental issues and communicating with each other, to improve pupils' skills of creative problem solving through team work, which will be an investment for their future careers, to raise the participants' awareness of the fact that despite cultural diversities they all have the same goal as responsible European citizens to combat climate change.24 students who are 14-18 years old and 12 teachers are involved in the Project. There will be monthly online meetings, and 6 short term exchanges of groups of pupils, where participants work together for the exchange of good practices. 4 students and 2 accompanying teachers from each school will take place in each student exchange. They will be chosen fairly according to the selection criteria discussed about and decided by the partners. The participants will gain creative thinking, entrepreneurial and problem solving experience and abilities by working in intercultural groups, brainstorming, face-to face discussing, designing environmentally-friendly or energy saving devices and making various objects from recyclable materials. They will visit waste-recycling and environmental plants in different European countries so that they can deepen knowledge of protecting environment. In the joint work as peer learning workshops they will improve their ICT and linguistic abilities and gain self-esteem which will be an investment for their job prospects in the future. Workshops will help them reduce their consumerist attitude. By multicultural workshops, students will learn the importance of being responsible European citizens to save our planet. By exchanging good practices the teachers will gain competencies in teaching energy saving issues not only in science lessons but also in integrated lessons. The participants will be acquainted with different cultures and traditions, which will help in fighting xenophobia and cultural prejudices. The internet website and other social media channels of the project will be free and available for all internet users during and after the project. No limitations or restrictions in the use of project results and outputs will occur. Local activities regarding the project topic will be a part of the schools’ strategic plans. Schools will organize local events, conferences, seminars, campaigns promoting the ideas of the project and disseminating the idea of energy saving afterwards. The published materials; the best practice brochure and the multilingual dictionary created within the project will be disseminated to local institutions and read by local people, that will help in raising their awareness. New partnerships will be possible among partners in the future projects. The project will bring positive attitudes towards the environment to the participant students, the young who are tomorrow's adults and the future of the planet Earth."

PASSAGLIAASS TOURQUENOISE DE GESTION,GYMNASIO EFXINOUPOLIS,Puistokadun koulu,Ortenbergschule Frankenberg,LICEO ARTISTICO MUSICALE A. PASSAGLIAFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-1-DE03-KA229-047541Funder Contribution: 125,215 EURThe main objective of this project was the integration of marginalised students with a focus on immigrants.Throughout our project we carried out activities, games and lectures where students had to communicate and work together in order to create a common ground. There were also many opportunities, where they were confronted with the problems of migrants, refugees or foreigners and outsiders. They had the chance to become more sensitive and could act more helpful.During the short term joint staff training (November 2018) at Ortenbergschule in Germany all partners could experience a school where migrants are actually part of the school community. We organized interviews with experts and also listened to students and parents who told us about their problems. In Germany the close contact to social workers, helpers and migrants led to the idea of regular meetings. We wanted to have a setting for talking and getting to know each other not connected to school problems from the start, so we set up the Encounter Café. Teachers got more insight in the domestic situation and parents got to know what school is expecting from them. We had positive reactions from all participants but had to stop during Corona. Yet these contacts were very helpful during the Corona time.In France (March 2019) the school is close to the refugee hotspot in Calais (“Jungle of Calais” - now cleared but still several replacement camps exist). Beside other activities the focus was on aid agencies, problems and living conditions of refugees and their expectations and the motivation of helpers. At Lycee Jehanne d’Arc in France participants of the ‘Common Ground Project’ realized, that there was not much done for welcoming and helping migrants at school. They contacted local organizations and other teachers from school already involved in helping migrants. Together they created ‘a welcome booklet’ which contains useful information and addresses for migrants and started an opportunity for advice on a more regular basis.During the meeting in Finland (May 2019) the students experienced to learn words using notes. We presented an application to help with the learning of irregular English verbs. Then students of each country gave lectures about minorities in their countries, we learned for example about the Swedish, Sami and Romani minorities in Finland.Puistokadun Koula from Finland started a cooperation with the Kurkijoki Museum (insight on wartime immigration within the country) and the Turku Teacher Training School (information about immigration from abroad in Finland). In Greece (November 2019) the focus was on direct communication. During the 5 days we had alternating activities at school (such as Diplomats mediation activity or UN experimental games) or went out. For example we visited “Arsis Youth Support Centre” or the historical site of Vergina. At Gymnasio Efxinoupolis from Greece working on the refugee issue led to a History project which investigated the refugee past of Efxinoupolis, which was originally created as settlement for people who had to leave Bulgaria from 1906 until 1926.Liceo Artistico Statale Catalano from Italy invited many refugees to talk about their situation during lesson – which was then documented in e-books or videos. In March 2020 Corona struck all countries. The Project came to a sudden halt. Before Corona it was our focus to integrate migrants, refugees and outsiders in general. Now it became: maintain or built up social contacts but stay away from each other.Due to Corona the planned activities could not be carried out. We switched to online activities and changed the focus somewhat to communicate at all.Using the project to offer possibilities to talk about Corona restrictions and how to overcome them. We could organize two virtual meetings with participants from all schools. The Virtual Meeting in March included many activities: Surveys (Mentimeter); Virtual treasure hunt (Google Earth); Video Presentations, Quiz (Kahoot); Collecting information (Padlet). The highlight was definitely the “Living Pictures” contest during the third day.For the Virtual Meeting in May we wanted to get students more actively involved. We could use separate conference rooms for smaller groups. What we did was: bring students from 5 countries with 5 different languages together, give them motivating tasks and let them more or less work on their own – without teachers. They had an intense exchange about their wishes, their hopes and expectations. The planned Travel Diaries (reports from all exchanges) were finished and published as online e-book. Two e-books covering the virtual meetings could be added.Language skills were definitely promoted through the Corona situation and also the improvement of computer skills.
