This poses a great challenge to mathematics teachers and all educators involved. Teaching mathematics by using innovative, creative and modern methods is a way to decrease the number of students with insufficient skills in the field of mathematics, which is one of the goals of European Cooperation in Education and Training (ET 2020). Furthermore, this is a way to motivate students to choose a university in the STEM area, which is one of the priorities under Horizon 2020. Making better use of digital technology for teaching and learning and developing digital competences and skills are also priorities of the 2018 Digital Education Action Plan of the European Commission.Since students spend a lot of time in a digital environment, it is their natural environment. The aim of the project is to direct student knowledge of digital games and their connection thereto to enhance their mathematical skills. Since teachers should have a leading role in this process, we will develop educational materials which will be useful to all mathematics teachers who would like to use game-based learning (GBL) founded on digital technology. The main goal of the project is to create a GAMMA handbook for teachers, focused authoring systems (FAS) for the production of digital games, a teaching scenario template, eight teaching scenario examples and five games connected with them based on GBL for mathematics curriculum topics for students aged 14-18 years in all project countries. The target group are mathematics teachers who teach students of the said age. The aim of the project is to develop teacher competences in GBL and encourage them to use and apply digital technologies in their teaching practice. The consortium consists of partners from the following four countries: Croatia, Greece, the Netherlands and Finland. Those are countries with different achievements in the fields of mathematics and science according to PISA 2018 results (Finland and the Netherlands are countries with results above the average, and Croatia and Greece are countries with results under the average). One university, two schools and the Education and Teacher Training Agency (ETTA) are included from Croatia, one university and one school are included from each of the following two countries: Greece and Finland, while one university is included from the Netherlands. These nine institutions will work together on the creation of educational materials. Universities will be responsible for the creation of the handbook for teachers and FAS. During the training activities, participants from each project organisation will be trained on GBL and they will work on the development of a teaching scenario template, eight teaching scenario examples, and five games connected with them based on GBL for mathematics curriculum topics for students aged 14-18 years in all project countries. A scientific approach of universities and experience of schools and the ETTA in the teaching process will guarantee that we will develop high-quality teaching scenario examples and games connected with them. Around 40 educators from universities, schools and the ETTA will be included in the training activities. Teaching scenario examples will be piloted in the real context, i.e., in mathematics classrooms of participating schools and schools from the Netherlands. After the piloting phase, universities will adapt scenarios according to feedback obtained from schools. In local dissemination events in each partner country, we will train 120 school teachers on GBL founded on digital technology and motivate them to use GAMMA educational materials in their teaching process. The final conferences will be held in Croatia and Greece, and they will be used to disseminate the project intellectual outputs among the educational community and encourage teachers, as well as other educational stakeholders, to re-use the project outputs after the end of the project.Through project activities, partnerships between schools and higher education institutions will be developed not only at national, but also at EU level. During project activities, all educators from partner organisations will improve their digital skills and teaching competences. They will also gain insight into other European educational systems and they will develop their language skills. All prepared materials will be adapted to every participating country so that they can be used not only by partner schools, but also by other schools from participating countries. Since all materials will also be available in English, they can be translated to other languages and used in other EU countries.GBL is an upcoming and relevant subject for education in general, not only in mathematics. The GAMMA handbook for teachers can also be used as material which can introduce GBL in other subjects in EU schools.

Despite all the international treaties and efforts to decrease CO2 emission, it increased by %2.7 in 2018 in comparison with 2017 because of global warming. According to 2018 CO2 emission results, there are countries whose emission is more than 1 billion tons and have the highest emission rates in the world. Total CO2 emission of them constitutes more than half of the global CO2 emission with a rate of %54.2.When the amount of CO2 emission created by EU countries is added, it becomes 24.5 GtCO2, that is, %63.1 of global CO2 emission. In the light of this data and our county’s emission rate, we decided to carry out a project which will be based on a holistic approach to fight against global warming via recycling. All the partner schools will raise awareness about saving natural resources and recycling in accordance with Waste Management Philosophy, providing assistance to this project and accordingly help investing in the future and economy. We became partners with schools which have similar concerns about global warming. Each partner is capable of being a strategic partner who can work in harmony with other partners during the project and carry out activities to assist its sustainability. Also, all the partner schools have sufficient amount of responsibility, willingness, enthusiasm, and experience to conduct learning /teaching activities to raise awareness. Target population of the project consists of teachers, students, families, and local communities of six partner institutions from Turkey, Italy, Greece, Romania, Spain and France. Each partner school will participate in the activities with 4 students and 2 teachers. The project has three stages:Be Aware, Take Action, and Expand. Each activity in the project will be organised based on these three stages.Learning-Teaching-Training Activities•Toy making with recycled materials•Observing nature to raise awareness about global warming•Be aware-Take Action–Expand activities addressing global warming•Producing food with no waste•Saving energy with “Waste Observers” activity•Historical Journey of Waste Methodology of learning-teaching-training activities Project team of each partner school will make observations in other partner countries’ educational environments on the purpose of comparison. Each county will be able to determine their own implementations’ positive and negative situations by on-site observations and experiences of the relevant implementations. The teachers and students that are in the project team will carry out observations and experiences in their own countries and on drawing attention to the problem regarding our world and on making preventive activities, the studies of common action will be done. About this project; -Educational Activities(Workshops, experiments, observations, visits, etc.) will be organized to create awareness. The importance of recycling will be expressed under these topics; •Protection of the natural sources,•Saving energy, •Enabling trash process by reducing the amount of the waste,•Helping us invest the future and the economy via recyclingGlobal warming is not only our problem but also other countries’.We, with our partners, want to create a strong effect by leaving this consciousness to the next generation by awakening all together to realize the world’s dream of vivacious seas, lands, unlimited and clean energy. As individuals who learn from the experiences and becoming more conscious to the constantly increasing global problems regarding the whole world, we think that the more we expand the influence area, the more we increase the sustainability of the project. In the background via our project; The desired goal will be achieved by respecting cultures and tolerance, intercultural learning, team work, noticing how important the personal effort is and the development of language and ICT skills. Results and Long Term Effects; •It’ll contribute to raise awareness among youth by becoming conscious while observing the effects of the global warming.•It will create awareness about investing the future and the economy by recycling, decreasing the amount of the waste, energy saving and the protection of natural resources.•Recycling materials that accelerate global warming will be known.•Encouraging the environmental conscious and care will be ensured.•Activities will be determined with the local institutions providing reach to the larger masses.•By learning, teaching and educational activities that are done according to the proper schedules to achieve goals, the final beneficiaries will be affected, too.•Each partner will make a project corner.•Online magazine will be published about the results of the global warming and the most recycled wastes in partner countries.•Photograph exhibition and video display about the activities of the project will be done.•The impact area will be spread as our project will be run on eTwinning, too.
