"With the EU economy in full recovery mode it is important to recognise that certain sub-sets of the population have not as of yet fully benefited from the return to growth. There remains a significant number of younger adults commonly referred to as NEETS - neither in education, employment nor training - on the margins of society and economy in all EU Member States. In autumn 2018 the NEET rate was at 12.7% in Lithuania; 16% in Czech Republic; 16.1% in Ireland; 20.9% in Bulgaria; 19.6% in Spain; 17.1% in Poland; 18.5% Croatia (Eurostat). The term NEET gathers a multitude of individuals under its classification. It broadly includes adults between the ages of 20 and 34 years who are on the margins of mainstream society. For most NEETS education has not had the desired impact where essential skills for employment are concerned. They don't have sufficient qualifications for further education and many in their ranks come from disadvantaged backgrounds. For the vast majority of NEETs education and training were not regarded as a priority in their early development years and in many cases their family educational history is one of under-achievement. Despite these educational impairments most of today's NEET population are digital natives and have some level of proficiency in digital and social media. Partners believe that this digital know-how can be the bridge to re-engagement if the right educational intervention is provided. If NEET-IDEA is to successfully re-engage marginalised young adults the proposed intervention must be completely different from the formal educational provision that has failed them previously. Project partners will therefore look to their digital activities and the most popular technology devices - smartphones - and design a training programme that uses inquiry-based and embedded-learning methodologies to develop a wide range of skills and attitudes that are essential for personal growth and personal fulfilment. The project will focus on building the self-confidence and self-esteem within the target group which all indicators show are badly lacking.Today's young digital natives use their smartphones for a wide range of activities. NEET-IDEA will focus on the use of these devices by target group members to produce digital media content which many of them upload and share on a variety of specialist social media platforms. Of particular interest to project partners is the use of vlogging, blogging and photo sharing platforms by digital natives to upload content they have created or to share content created by others. NEET-IDEA partners will build an entire training programme to train the NEET target group to make short films using only their smartphones for producing and editing the content created. The training will be focused on building small media production crews/teams of 4 or 5 individuals and assign different roles in the short-film production, editing and marketing actions required. This will allow partners to address the following skills or attitudes:- research skills will be developed in conceptualising the theme or idea for the short film- literacy will be addressed through the writing of a short script for the film- numeracy will be addressed by the requirement of every team to produce a budget for the film- a wide range of digital skills will be addressed in the production and editing of the films- teamwork skills will be central to the success of the production process- inter-personal skills will be developed through the engagement of others in interviews, etc.- planning skills will be developed by ensuring that all the correct permissions and consents are in place before filming commencesThe partners will encourage learners to make different types of short films like a 5 minute comedy sketch; a documentary; a mockumentary; a short film with a serious theme; etc. NEET-IDEA is primarily a project about developing specific key transversal skills; building self-confidence; taking responsibility; working in a team environment; being respected and respecting others, all key skills for inclusion. As Woody Allen once said ""...everybody wants to be in the movies..."" and the NEET- IDEA project will give young digital natives the opportunity to be part of a film crew in a role that fits their personal preferences or personalities. This is the way to achieve the inclusion and up-skilling of NEETS that partners are proposing."

Mitigating the impact of substance abuse has been at the centre of front-line youth work for many years. While much attention these days is focused on climate change, fake news and radicalisation, the drug problems that were front and central of youth policy and action in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, are still considerable today and front-line youth workers are expected to respond to these persistent problems with little in terms of training support to develop new methodologies for addressing the problems that are somewhat exacerbated by the social media habits of youth today. For the youth of today technology is ubiquitous. Over time technology has fused itself with learning, both in education and personal development. Smart phones, tablets and laptops are just some of the devices that are frequently used by a large proportion of the population of Europe, particularly young people. In 2016, 91% of young people in the EU made daily use of the internet. (Euro Stat). As countries increasingly move toward more relaxed drug laws, the role of educators and in particular front-line youth workers will become the main focus of public services who wish to prevent drug abuse. The VIDA project will develop and pilot a completely new type of drugs awareness training through the provision of innovative interactive inforgraphics addressing the 3 key themes of Problem Definition, Appropriate Response Actions and Prevalent Problems Today. 4 infographics will be developed for each thematic area resulting in a suite of 12 infographics each one focusing on a clear, succinct message. While these infographics will obviously have a direct impact as simple posters or images to display or share through social media, the real innovation of the VIDA project is that each of the 12 infographics will contain a QR code which leads directly to a fully interactive version with a range of different learning resources embedded as videos, audios, quizzes, puzzles, digital breakouts, WebQuests, etc. Each of the 12 interactive infographics will comprise a combination of at least 3 or 4 different learning resources that address the specific topic chosen. This will help to ensure that all learning styles can be catered for and that the learning outcomes can be reinforced throughout the learning experience. To support the implementation of these resources the project will also develop an In-service training programme for front-line youth workers to build their skills to develop interactive infographics; a Peer leadership programme to support a new cohort of peer leaders to harness the full potential of the interactive infographics developed and build their knowledge about the key themes being addressed; an Online interactive portal - VIDA MOOC that hosts all the learning materials developed and is accessed through QR code contained on the hard copy infographics developed.By the end of the project:- 12 interactive infographics addressing drugs awareness issues will be developed in 5 partner languages- 30 front-line youth workers will complete the pilot of the in-service training programme- 30 young people will complete the peer leadership programme- 250 young people will engage with the interactive infographics developed through the online portal provided

In order to improve the current insufficient participation of adults in learning in partner countries and across Europe, we need to provide high-quality education opportunities and identify main barriers that hinder participation and persistence of adults in learning. The aim of the project is to address problems and difficulties and respond to the needs of adult education providers and adult learners. The project aim is to contribute to:- increasing adult participation in learning- adult learners' demands for quality education provision that offers necessary support and takes into account learner needs- adult education providers' needs for teachers and staff equipped with necessary competences, strategies, and tools for motivating and engaging adult learners as well as maintaining their persistence in learningThe partners are proposing to develop the following intellectual outputs in order to accomplish the set project aims.IO1 How to Motivate and Engage Adult Learners: A Training Programme for Adult Education Staff and Teachers A training programme aimed at increasing motivation competences of teachers and staff in adult education. IO2 Open Source Online Platform for Adult Education Staff and Teachers An online platform featuring activities and tools in English and partner languages aimed at supporting adult education staff and teachers participating in the training programme. IO3 Information Guide for Policy MakersGuidelines for policy makers responsible for adult education regarding the deployment of professional staff and educators about the importance of their motivation and on how to develop a vision about the importance of adult education in relation to their responsibility for quality assurance and role in the labour market. The project plans to increase the target groups' quality of interaction with adult learners due to increased communication, and motivation competences, better cooperation, and communication through ICT tools. Thanks to the online platform, the target groups will also improve their access and use of online collections of digital training material and they will need less time to select motivation messages and instruments. The piloting of the IO1 will be based on practical and interactive training approach and tools in order to ensure that the target group will have the opportunity to apply marketing tools and methods contextualized in their role. The desired result is to have more competent and professional AE staff that can progress beyond their traditional approach to and culture of education. The project will also have positive results for the participating organisations since project partners will improve their in-person and digital training approaches, strengthen their cooperation with the relevant AE institutions in their regions and countries as well as relevant stakeholders in other countries, contributing to their internationalisation.
