Marszalka Jozefa Pilsudskiego,Dr Petar Beron Primary school,Daugavpils 11 pamatskolaFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-1-RO01-KA229-049173Funder Contribution: 126,190 EURCONTEXT We are five European schools brought together by similar needs. We want to offer our students the best possible alternatives, to improve their skills, motivate them and boost their creativity and self-expression. We are all aware of the requirements of today’s educational systems, which promote the involvement of students in extracurricular activities so as to get them more actively involved in their own learning path, to enable them to thrive while doing something they are passionate about. Whether high or low achievers, our students are all united in the same desire to meet other pupils, share their hobbies, interests and passions, work together, communicate with them and find out more about the European cultures. We are well aware that there will also be challenges on the way, but we are determined to overcome them together, as a team. OBJECTIVES We have the following aims for students: - to improve their motivation and increase their enthusiasm - to improve their practical skills through photography - to improve intercultural awareness and sense of identity - to acquire European values like acceptance, tolerance, non-discrimination - to boost their language and digital skills - to develop communication, interpersonal and social skills - to enable self-expression, creativity - to increase self-awareness and self-appreciation At the level of teachers, the project aims to: - increase motivation - enable cooperation and collaboration among EU teachers - enable the exchange of good practices and application in the schools - improve expertise in running Erasmus+ projects - develop communication, interpersonal and social skills. ACTIVITIES In order to meet all these goals and attach a stronger intercultural component to the project, we have decided to combine photography with students’ daily lives, their culture, their problems, their views and artistic perception. Therefore, we intend to organize 5 student exchanges along the project: 1 – A day in my life - photography basics; 2 – My school - color, light and design techniques; 3 – My town – Principles of composition; 4 – My region - Capturing motion in pictures; 5. My Europe – Learning to edit photos. Before each of these meetings, students will be assigned tasks related to the topic of each exchange. They will work in teams and will produce a photo story on each of these topics. During the exchanges, their works will be evaluated, they will receive advice and will attend workshops run by specialists in which they learn tips. They are also assigned a new task as a result of the workshop. PARTICIPANTS Students, who are our main target group, are pupils aged 12-14 in each school. They will be in the centre of all our activities and will benefit directly or indirectly from the project activities and result. Some of them, 5 for each exchange (20 / country) will get the chance to travel to the partner countries and be directly involved in the activities. They will be accompanied by 2 teachers in each exchange (8 / country). Therefore, overall 100 students and 40 teachers will participate directly. RESULTS Our concrete results refer first of all to the attainment of all stated objectives. Secondly, we aim to produce and collect all kinds of tangible materials, such as workshop materials, students’ photo stories, students’ photos on the topics of the exchange, students’ self-assessment forms, feedback forms, evaluation instruments, dissemination materials such as newsletter, photo exhibition, website, eTwinning platform space, assessment reports about each exchange, certificates of attendance etc. IMPACT All partner schools will gain valuable experience as a result of this project. We will learn from each other and observe the positive aspects in each system which can be adopted in our own schools. We will learn about the cultures of European countries and give our schools a European dimension. Consequently, we will be more confident in applying for future projects. Schools can continue their collaboration by creating a network of photo clubs which may extend to other schools in our countries or other countries. We will organize photography competitions among students in partner schools on different special occasions. We want to turn this into a regular practice. Therefore, the project will help our institutions become active on the European stage.

When we asked the teacher of the special needs class in our school about why special needs students (SNS) do not go on break at the same time with the rest of the students, they replied that SNS can be triggered by fast movement and loud noises, adding that other students can be afraid of special needs students and often bother them. We developed our project in order to come up with a solution to this issue. We conducted a survey to evaluate the opinions of the parents on SNS. Our observations of students and the results of parent surveys revealed a higher level of negative attitude towards SNS than anticipated. Our goal with this project was to create a positive change in attitude towards SNS at our school and in our local area. Objectives:Our goal was to help change negative attitudes towards disabled people to positive, to decrease the social exclusion of the disabled while increasing their social inclusion, at the level of primary education. What we have done to achieve our goal:1.Introducing students and parents to special needs children:SNS were accompanied by their teacher to visit the other classrooms. Students from other classrooms were informed about SNS and their disabilities. Classrooms were provided with story books containing information and success stories about people with disabilities, which the students were encouraged to read. Specialists were invited to school to provide further information to the parents and students on the subject of disability.2.Showing that disabled people can be productive:Visits were conducted to establishments providing vocational training to SNS. Participants learned how to produce items such as galoshes, wood painting, etc. An interview and signing day was held with 12-year-old disabled author KeremBaşaran.3.Friends outside school borders:*T-shirt painting *Making new year cards *Painting beach pebbles *Picnic *Kite festival *Children’s games festival *Going to public playgrounds together *Planting trees *Trip to the zoo *‘Understanding my friend’ themed painting workshop *Group meetings for SNS parents and other parents *Making an animated short film *Performing social exclusion themed play *Trips, games, races and other cultural activities to help mingle SNS with others. *Step dance performance planned for 23 April couldn’t happen due to Covid.4.Children who can approach SNS:Children got to meet and interact in events held in and out of school. They got over their mutual prejudices and fears. Friendships created through the process continued in and out of school space.5.Other parents interacting with SNS parents:All parents were required to join the events of the project, leading them to get to know and understand each other. Parents of both groups were made to interact.6.Short film:We made a short film from the pictures taken throughout the project and put it on YouTube.7.Play:The students and parents from both groups worked on and performed a theater play on the social struggles of disabled people written by our special needs teacher. The play was performed on the biggest stage of Izmir to participants from other local schools. It continued being performed in the school stage for local people. All performers got on stage at curtain call to sing “We are the World”. All project partners performed this play in their own countries and languages. The recording of the play was shown in the virtual Poland meeting due to Covid.8.eTwinning project:We published our project, its events, and results on the eTwinning platform.Outcomes:The target group’s attitudes towards SNS were evaluated in “before-after” format by asking the students to draw pictures and conducting surveys with the parents. It has been observed that while SNS were mostly lonely and unhappy in their “before” drawings, “after” drawings showed them playing happily with friends. The results of the parent surveys also revealed a positive change in their attitudes towards SNS.Long-term benefits:Education is the achievement of terminal behavior. This achievement should occur in early ages. In our project, we have observed the possibility of a positive change in the students’ attitude through education. Such a change will likely help increase social awareness about and social inclusion of disabled people in the long term, which will lead them to have equal conditions, and rights and status in society. Disabled people with the opportunity to improve themselves will be able to prove themselves as equals financially, artistically, and athletically. Our women’s goalball theme winning gold medal in the 2021 Paralympic Games is an example of the possibility of achievement for disabled people.

Janusza KorczakaFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-1-PL01-KA229-050735Funder Contribution: 102,512 EUR"The modern world is constantly changing, which also affected a significant effect on the area of education. There are also new challenges for students and teachers. Therefore, thinking about the modernization of education we must take into account the global processes and changes which take place in Europe. If students want to be able to meet the dynamic changes in the future they must demonstrate competencies necessary to function in the coming reality. Among students there should be developed key competences, which are responsible for school education activities necessary not only for gaining knowledge but also for student’s life perspectives. The project ""You and Me - through art to a better future"" involves developing these competencies among students with various problems. As part of the work in the project we intend to take action to equal educational opportunities for students from incomplete families or these with financial problems what became a source of school failure and antisocial behavior. Artistic activities will be organized in the form of artistic, technical, musical and culinary activities aimed at strengthening self-esteem, restoring tensions, stimulating creative activity. Project activities are aimed at education and upbringing a creative person, well prepared for life in the family, the local environment, homeland and united Europe. Each of the partner schools will have a contest for the logo of the project, artistic workshops will also be held and their results will be presented in the form of various products (cookbook, spatial form, photo album, short film, national dance, national song, artwork, multimedia presentations) They will be presented and summarized during international meetings. Information technology - computer technology is also used to design activities, so close to children today. ICT tasks will be designed to develop creativity, creativity and curiosity among the participants. As a result of the planned activities, a change of attitudes and behaviors among pupils involved in the project is anticipated. Pupils with the help of teachers will develop their creative talents, learn how to properly manage their spare time, be independent and open to new experiences. Their development will be more harmonious, they will be easier to cope with difficulties and learning problems. With mobility and international exchanges, project recipients will broaden their knowledge of other European countries and raise awareness of European identity. During classes in international groups they will learn how to work together in a team and communicate with their peers. They will also develop their language skills and coping skills. By exchanging the experience of the partner school staff during the short-term joint staff training events teachers will have the opportunity to know innovative teaching methods and ideas for teaching. Discussions, workshops and sharing of ideas will also improve the qualifications of teachers engaged in the implementation of the project in the field of didactics and work-related education with students with learning disabilities resulting from their family situation. Through international co-operation (mobilities, regular contact via e-twinning, e-mail, Skype, Facebook), virtual and literal mobility will be developed, resulting in learning about the culture of the participating countries and promoting the regions visited. The implementation of the Erasmus + program will help to overcome the language barrier, geographic and cultural barriers in reaching agreement for the development and improvement of education in the future. The project will be attended by five schools from different parts of Europe (Latvia, Portugal, Italy, Turkey and Poland). In 3 short-term joint staff training events and 4 short-term exchanges of group of pupils, approximately 120 visiting students and teachers and a community of the school organizing the meeting will participate. The impact of the project will be much broader, as the effects of joint actions (photos, videos, exhibitions, presentations, spatial form, dances, songs) will be disseminated in schools, the local environment, the Internet and the media. Evaluations will be conducted in all schools and will be made available to interested parties. The implementation of the project, apart from the expected results, also foresees its continuation and sustainability after the completion of the funding in the form of good practice. They will be used in the future by schools involved in the project but also others who want to take advantage of these innovative ideas. It raises the educational offer of the school, motivates teachers for continuous activity, promotes the institution, and the European Union in the local environment, region and other European countries."
