One of the great challenges in school is to create teaching situations where children may meet other nations, languages, cultures and religions that they otherwise had not met. Our traditional teaching aids are not enough. We need to create new forums where children will be able to build relationships, to feel fellowship and responsibility, and to work together towards common goals. We would like to give our children the best of conditions to gain a positive attitude towards things that break the norms or are unfamiliar. We would like to give them the conditions to feel curiosity and solidarity to people, both in their own community and outside.Participating countries: Sweden, Estonia, Bulgaria, TurkeyWe will be working with issues related to our local environment looking back, present and ahead. The children need to feel pride and responsibility for our local community which is a basis for a sustainable future. In the process of working with the local community we believe that it is important to have the opportunity to view contrasts, to gain perspective and to become aware of what is unique for us, how it is in other places, what is similar and what is different. Literature is a carrier of linguistic and cultural traditions and therefore it suits us very well to use as a tool in our project. The goal of these international efforts should give students: - an interest and an increased understanding for the cultural diversity.- a commitment and greater understanding for social, financial and organic sustainable future.- an increased solidarity commitment.- possibilities to work from a thematic perspective where the entrepreneurial ability may be challenged and developed. The goal with the international activities will give teachers and school leaders:- the possibility to exchange experiences between teachers and school leaders in other countries, which may lead to reflection about their own teaching and about school development with new ways of teaching. A teacher will gain perspective of everyday classes and tasks, meeting other teachers and moreover, seeing their own business through them.We are planning to work with literature for children from different parts of Europe. We believe that children can learn a lot from history and culture through the various books and authors. The stages of progression of the project and activity plan:1) Work with children's literature and authors in the home country - past and present time.2) Take part in and work with children's literature in other countries and their presentations of the same. To interpret, compare and understand.3) Work together with partner schools in creating stories about the future. Using digital technology we will be able to be updated with our common project. The conditions may vary depending on age in the storytelling. Most important is that through their writing they will create common images of the future. 4) As a result of our work we will disseminate our commonly made stories and visions to stakeholders in our local community. There might be reasons to try to influent, for example: media, politicians, parents to reach a sustainable future.During project we will communicate the frames of the project, expectations, commitments, reporting of finances, evaluations and analysis of results. Meetings are set to facilitate the different parts of the projectParticipating staff during meetings are headmasters, contact persons and teachers. Expected impacts: • To gain a positive belief in the future• To feel proud of our own culture• To learn and to feel interested in other cultures • To gain greater understanding and tolerans for cultural diversities• To affect living situations now and for sustainable future• To increase the entrepreneurial ways of thinking and working• To gain new perspective and experiences towards EU and Europe • To develope our teaching leading to good results and committed students.• To increase our ability in teaching thematically• To increase our ability in working with ICTWe believe that through this project we will gain wider perspective in other cultures. This will also have some effect on the solidarity towards people in Europe. Each school will gain an impact in the local community by their visions and positive believes in the future. Each school will have gained a greater understanding and tolerance for cultural diversities which will benefit citisens in the local community.

EuroBook Buddies is a project aimed at supporting students in five schools in England, Turkey, Poland, Italy and Greece to explore past and present book making and publication technologies and use these to learn about the stories, cultures, traditions, daily life, geographical and historical features of our partner European countries. We believe that story telling is a powerful way for all generations to pass on their knowledge and experiences. Our pupils will be involved in researching and presenting information and will explore traditional stories, family histories, histories of towns and buildings, stories of feasts and celebrations, songs and poems, instructions for traditional games and recipes, stories about family life and school life.To support the students in recording their versions of the many stories they will hear and read, the teachers from each country will work together to find effective teaching methods. In particular they will investigate ways to improve basic literacy skills for the many children in our schools who have barriers to overcome in their learning. The relationships between our teachers, students and parents will be nurtured by visits to each others’ schools over a period of two years during which work will be exchanged and detailed plans made for the next activities. This will be supported by the building of a website where all our joint work will be shared and enjoyed by all. Each book activity will involve classes from the three schools writing their own versions. Some books will be made collaboratively with all partners contributing sections. These will be illustrated using a range of artistic media. Pupils will also prepare and rehearse oral stories to tell and film. These will be published in a variety of ways including, bound paper books, pop-up books, digital multi-media books, interactive books where readers can make choices about the route to follow. By the end of the project each school will have built up a library of rich material painting a picture of life in the countries of their partners. The technical skills needed to create such resources will become part of the curriculum, with teachers and students identifying the new capabilities they will need. These might include book binding, photograph and film editing, programming, uploading to websites and social network sites such as Youtube, using blogs to share ideas and comment on others work. Where needed, specialist training will be found, but much will be learned by school ‘experts’ (both children and adults) developing tutorial resources for pupils and colleagues to use. The language of the project will be English which presents a challenge to those whose first language is different (including those in the English school). Support through glossaries and translation tools will be developed. All participants will be encouraged to improve their knowledge of basic vocabulary of the languages of the other countries, particularly during visits to hosting schools. It is hoped that the knowledge and skills gained will lead to long term relationships between the partner schools being maintained beyond the life of the project as schools become skilled in using technology for global communication and aware of the benefits in sharing teaching methods and improving students’ achievements.

Technology has become an indispensable part of our lives. It takes place in every activity of daily life. We live in a digital age and technology is everywhere. The importance of coding that is known for the milestone of this digital age is increasing day by day and all children must be challenged for them to reach their highest academic potential within this technological environment. Regardless of their social background, and with a high level of well-being. During the school day, we have to find time and opportunities for practical and application-oriented forms of teaching that promote innovation. Many countries in the world have noticed certain significant abilities such as analytic thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving, design thinking. In this way, a new education system promoting coding training, robotic studies, STEM education in early childhood is adopted and rearranged accordingly. Thanks to coding in early childhood, it is believed that children’s algorithmic thinking ability, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities will improve. Because of these reasons and personal development opportunities, coding and robotic studies have become essential parts in childhood education rather than being simply as a profession. STEM education which is one the most important paradigms in the 21st century is of high significance in the way of putting the theory into practice and gaining contemporary skills. It is aimed at raising modernized creative leaders and growing economically. Integration of STEM in national education will enable to rising a new generation with creative, productive and modern skills. In line with these developments in the world, it is aimed at providing students with certain qualifications and skills such as self-confidence, analytic thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving, design thinking, and productivity, thereby sharing the best examples of the related studies with the project partners. We realized that we were all looking for further opportunities for cooperative researches in innovative teaching methods. In particular, we were, and are, interested in the recent innovative development in the use of technology in teaching and we are eager to learn more about it. Some of the goals reached the end of the project.Teachers:• Been motivated in lifelong learning and enrich their professional experience with new teaching methods• New competencies as a result of the training course and apply new methods thus increasing the quality of education and training;• Have a better co-operation with students, thus leading to a better understanding of their personalities and desires.Students:• Learned about how to work in a team and how to manage difficulties and how to become more tolerant and cooperative and beingable to take initiatives.• Acquire new competencies in field learning and logical thinking.• Developed their ICT skills through the use of these modern technologies.• Know how to take the next best step in problem solving and life. It is also aimed at changing our project into an e-Twinning project, thus enabling to coding, robotics and STEM become widespread.

According to the latest PISA 2018 results, announced at the end of 2019, over ten million students were not able to complete even the most basic reading tasks – and these were 15-year-olds living in the 79 high- and middle-income countries that participated in the test. In fact, the survey found an increase in students who find reading “a waste of time”, and that fewer students read for enjoyment purposes. In this era of fake news and accessibility of information via the internet, students must also have digital literacy when it comes to reading online. As the report states, “All students need to be able to read complex texts, distinguish between credible and untrustworthy sources of information, and between fact and fiction, and question or seek to improve the accepted knowledge and practices of our times.”All the six countries participating in this project fall into this category of those 79 countries. In order to see what the motivation in reading in students is,we all 6 partners(Bulgaria,Turkey,Malta,Poland,Portugal and Italy) conducted a research, targeted 10-14 years-old students. The problem of lack of interest in reading for enjoyment was documented with student surveys, teacher observations, and reading inventories. Students’ negative attitudes and low self-esteem were found to contribute to lack of motivation. It also provided evidence that students who have access to material of interest are more likely to read and thus improve their reading achievement and attitudes. The aim of our project is to teach pupils a variety of ways to communicate with each other and share their learning and also open their minds to the fact that new ways of collaboration are being developed all the time.We aim to promote the concept of reading for pleasure and we ensure that we include a range of ‘real books’ within the project activities as well as the opportunity for sustained reading from a range of interesting activities.Overal objectives:-To promote the love of reading (and have fun)-To increase the rate of reading in students-To make reading funnier-To develop digital abilities in students and having students being all technology literate students, active and participatory people in the future -To increase the self-confidence-To introduce web.2 tools and using them in projects-To develop and strengthen professional links with other countries-To use innovative ways to promote learning and develop new skills-To develop a better understanding of EU focus and standardsTangible results:-short films with answers of 3 questions(selection process)-brochure and a poster(dissemination material)-DVDs with the Harry Potter's Week highlights -cards for KAMISHIBAI theatre-a film and photos tutorial -LAPBOOKS -SLEEVEFACE posters -book made by wattpad.comIntangible results:Students will-be provided with experiences with language used in books-be motivated to read by involving them in reading as a pleasurable activity-expand vocabulary and improve reading skills-be challenged to think critically-be introduced to interesting for them literature-improve their self-esteem and gain confidence-be motivated to use ICT appsTeachers will:-learn and compare various teaching methods, strategies, techniques and approches of different education systems across Europe in order to develop good didactic practices-plan together a project cointaining active strategies and methodologies, different activities , the use of ICT and other didactic tools, final products, time and places implied in the learning-teaching process that will be constantly monitored and assessed in order to modify it, if necessary-develop an understanding of social and cultural similarities and differences between European partners through the discussion of significant topics-increase the European vision, the pedagogical language and motivation for personal and professional development.Parents will be offered:-More innovative and pioneering educational methods.-A positive, stronger view on Europe and active citizenship.Community will be offered:-Establishment of long term bonds with neighbor schools and institutions.-Dissemination of our project to the community will make its members more open minded to diversity.
