The objective of the project was to develop materials and activities for five UNESCO themes (CItizenship, Sustainability, Peace and Human Rights, Intercultural Learning and Cultural Heritage) that are based on the principles of international collaboration, educational design and entrepreneurship. Further objectives of the project were to develop challenging and interesting teaching materials and activities that can be used in projects, during project days and during student exchanges. The activities were aimed at developing the skills and competences that students need for study and work in an international setting. In the project there were 7 coordinators ( France and Germany swapped coordinators after one year), more than 25 teachers were involved in the project (either directly or indirectly), and over 44 pupils were involved in the project. These 44 travelled, but more were involved in the schools themselves, especially in the schools that were visited during the short term student exchanges. There were three development meetings during which the teacher-designers developed the teaching materials and activities and two short term student exchanges during which the materials and activities were tested in real-life situations with students from different countries. There was also a final meeting of all the teachers in which the digital booklet was finalised. The pupils gave feedback at the end of each part of the project. The teachers then adapted the materials and activities. The result of the project is a website with all the teaching materials https://unesco-lesson-materials.webnode.nl/The address of the website is shared with as many people as possible, among others, the Unesco schools networks in the five countries. The impact of the project has been that both pupils and teachers have gained knowledge on the Unesco themes and improved their (21st century) skills and competences. The pupils have also learned to work together in international teams and share responsibility for an end product. The impact on the schools inside and outside the project is that they now have lesson materials to use which makes it easier to organise project days with a UNESCO theme. All schools involved have indicated that they would like to keep in touch and work together on international projects on the themes."
