Open education resources, Nano open Online Courses (NOOCs), have become the main means for adult learning.Today, open education is based on digital technology to support teaching and learning. It is very important because it allows to show video cases for professional development. NOOCs method is based on presenting short, very well structure-based video courses. It helps improving and extending the supply of high quality learning opportunities, tailored to the needs of individual low-skilled or low-qualified adults. At this point, ADU-NOOC assures the recognition of the existing competences by using assessment tool and encourages development of new competences for low skilled people in Europe. The objectives reached during the project: 1. an assessment tool for existing competences recognition for low skilled people has been developed;2. increased motivation and disparities reduction in learning outcomes of low skilled adults by providing digital program based on NOOCs method for new skills and competences development.Target groups: low skilled, low qualified people and disadvantaged groups. The following activities has been carried out during the project:Creation of the assessment tool for self-assessment of low skilled and qualified adults;Creation of the training program to develop competences of low skilled and low qualified adults;Creation of the methodology for adult's educators on running training program and assessment tool;One-day national workshop for adult's educators has been organized in all partner countries (LT, GR, IE, ES);National multiplier events for stakeholder and local communities has been organized in all partner countries;European Conference in Lithuania in August 2019 has been held successfully; The learning/training activity has been organized in 2018 in Greece.Methodology used in carrying out the project:While carrying out the project, face to face and online meetings with the partners has been organized. Discussions about the project management and implementation has been held during these meetings; All received feedback from partners was taken into consideration. Results and impact envisaged, the potential longer term benefits:The project outcomes (O2, O3), based on the project partners’ best experience increased the number of adults with new competences. The research done before the project, showed that adults educators are not always ready for working with low skilled groups and for thus the project helped them to develop new necessary competences. Qualified adult educators with the help of the ADU NOOC motivated and will motivate in the future large number of low skilled groups to get skills and competences and to participate more actively in learning and later in the labor market.

The project lights the way for startups within Europe by organising 8 Deep Dive Weeks in 4 ecosystems: Berlin, Dublin, Lisbon and the Baltics – meeting over 1600 different ecosystem players in specific themes such as fintech, refugee tech, e-gov, IoT, etc - and culminating with a Top 10 Lighthouse Award in London each year. Lighthouse will support directly over 120 startups to meet key people (investors, corporates, technological experts, media, customers, talent, etc.) in each of these ecosystems through matchmaking, 1-on-1 mentoring, workshops and many other activities. Furthermore, the best of the best of the selected startups will receive the chance to take part in our Europass programme - taking them to 8 of the biggest European tech events; as well as 1 week scouting missions to Silicon Valley, New York and Israel to accelerate their positioning as global players. Lighthouse’s top-notch support activities prepare startups to take advantage of the opportunities in external markets as well as providing qualified introductions to key players in new ecosystems: which all contributes to increased market success. In concrete expected impact, the project will help selected startups to obtain +2000 investment, partnership or customers leads, 500 new international customer leads, develop +100 adapted products/services to new markets, raise collective turnover by 50%, create +500 new jobs, raise +€50m in total investment and many more direct and serendipitous results. Lighthouse does not happen in a vacuum - its structure enables perfect integration with all Startup Europe activities - especially within Deep Dive Weeks. This exploits synergies between Lighthouse, Startup Europe and all related stakeholders by pooling resources together – encouraging even more ecosystems to take part in its activities.

Caused by low household income, high energy bills, and low dwelling energy efficiency, energy poverty has traditionally been associated with the inability of households to meet their heating needs during winter. However, up to the 19% of households declared not being comfortably cool in summer. Nine of the 10 warmest years have occurred since 2005, with the last five years comprising the five hottest. Not to mention this 2019 June has been the hottest on record. Climate change is increasing both the severity and frequency of extreme hot weather and heat waves and in dense urban areas, these heatwave episodes will be combined with the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, worsening city centres temperatures which will negatively impact human health and wellbeing. Thus, cooling needs and overheating risk need to be incorporated into the energy poverty equation. The project COOLtoRISE aims to reduce summer energy poverty incidence among European households improving their indoor thermal habitability conditions and reducing their energy needs during the hot season, which will decrease their exposure to heat and heat-related health risks. Not all households have an air conditioning system and it is known that energy poor households make a restrictive use of heating and cooling as they cannot afford associated energy bills. However, raising awareness on summer energy poverty and implementing actions to mitigate it will have a double benefit on European households. First, heat exposure of energy poor households will be reduced by increasing indoor thermal conditions, which will decrease in their risk to suffer heat related diseases. Second, raising summer energy culture and preventing air conditioning devices to be installed can have serious benefits on climate change preventing future emissions.

At the same time, it represents a global paradox: whilst a large amount of the food produced each year is wasted, there are huge numbers of people suffering from hunger. SavingFood offers a novel approach to tackle food waste by turning this environmental issue into an innovative solution to fight hunger. The project builds on the collaborative power of ICT networks and creates an online community of citizens, food waste stakeholders and policy makers that through knowledge creation and sharing they are empowered to take direct action and become part of the suggested food waste solution. Through the use of advanced open source tools connected to a social networking environment SavingFood facilitates the redistribution of surplus food to those in need, ensures that no food is wasted through lack of communication, supports the participation of people in organised as well as ad hoc events around food saving and encourages wide debate. Leveraging on the collaborative power of social networks and by activating the collective intelligence of citizens SavingFood seeks to create a social movement for tackling food waste and influence lifestyles towards a more sustainable future.
