It does not only affect the lives of people living with mental health problems, and their carers, but also the productivity of society as a whole. In many countries, mental illness is the leading cause of disability, responsible for 30-40% of chronic sick leave and costing some 3% of GDP. More common than diabetes, cancer or heart disease, mental illnesses fill up to 21% of all hospital beds at any given time. The need for effective approaches to treating people with severe mental illness is often a matter of life or death. 1 in 10 people diagnosed with schizophrenia and 1 in 5 with bipolar illness will end in suicide. People suffering from mental illness and especially those who live in mental health structures are in the forefront of socially disadvantaged groups, suffering more over from social stigmatization and marginalization. These people have also been suffering from societal injustices.Although art's healing effect on mental health is being acknowledged more and more, it is not an optional therapeutic approach for most of mental health structures in many European Countries. Moreover, even though, there is an obvious need of more contemporary approaches which will possibly reduce the use of medicines, most of the structures are being stuck to old protocols avoiding trying alternative methodological approaches and routines, as a result of ignorance or being afraid to try something new. The potential and benefits of combining therapeutic art with restorative justice are still not translated into educational material and programmes leaving many adult learners and professionals in the field unaware.Mental Health Matters through Restorative Art (MHM) aims to respond to this gap by bringing together a cross-sector, strategic partnership of 6 familiar and not so familiar with Erasmus organisations to support innovation in the adult education field by creating, piloting and disseminating educational material and tools tailored to the needs and realities of mental health professionals, restorative justice practitioners and artists in the participating countries (the UK, Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Hungary) and across Europe. MHM will also design and accredit e-courses that will enhance the skills and knowledge of adult learners, supporting in this way the setting up of, and access to, upskilling pathways. The project consists of 4 Intellectual Outputs designed to meet its long-term goals:1 Training Manual on the use of Restorative Art in Mental Health, encouraging cooperation between the participant countries. It will provide us with a local and comparative picture of the use of restorative art in mental health structures among the participating countries as well as the ways in which art is exploited in these structures. 1 Training programme and CPD accredited e-course on the inclusion of restorative art in mental health structures (for mental health professionals, mental health structures' coordinators, mental health carers and restorative justice practitioners). It will give to our target group the knowledge skills, competences and attitudes to include art in mental health structure's routine in order to improve the lives of mentally ill people living in these structures 1 Training programme and CPD accredited e-course on the use of art as a relief and restorative tool for people living in mental health structures. The programme is expected to give emerging artists the knowledge, competences and attitudes to be included in the routine of mental health structures and also to use these skills and competences in order to find new career prospects 1 ""Mental Health Matters in Action"" E-book that will include and present the artworks that will have been emerged during the piloting phase and throughout the project. IO4 serves the broader planning of MHM and as a result will further involve emerging artists and healthcare and restorative justice practitioners with mentally vulnerable groups. These are supported by a well planned LTT and various horizontal, dissemination and communication activities including 6 multiplier events.MHM is expected to have considerable local, national and international results and impact including improving the knowledge, competences and attitudes of mental health professionals, emerging artists and restorative justice practitioners. Over 10,000 individuals and organisations are expected to be reached through the project's IOs, 6 multiplier events and 1 LTT. The online availability of all training materials and tools for at least 5 years after EU funding, as well as their translation in 4 languages will ensure sustainability of impact in the long run. Finally, MHM aims to use its findings to inform EU integration, healthcare and other relevant policies. Thus, the achievement of the project objectives will lead a step towards WHO/Europe priorities for mental health."

Each activity that constitutes the project content provided coordinated work of educators/guidance specialists and disabled families, which are the main actors in sexual education. The partnership started the studies with the needs analysis to determine the project target groups' real training needs. In this context, each partner organized local workshops to engage with the main privacy education actors ( Special education teachers, guidance teachers, caregivers, and parents of disabled individuals). The local workshops' main aim was to discuss the problems in the field with target groups, and their real training needs to create a questions pool for the next step of the study. Each partner was prepared a local workshop report and shared it in the partnership with other partners. After the local workshops, two different questionnaires about the educational needs of the main actors of privacy education were applied to parents and trainers in partner countries to develop such a project program. The needs analysis, evidence-based support for developing the program, and teaching materials were provided. Results on the needs analysis of parents and trainers were represented under three different titles: personal information and views on participating in such an education, views on the content of the educational program, and suggestions.Benchmarking report; the partnership was created a benchmarking report under the IO1 studies. This report was prepared to examine the context of the international and national legislation for disabled individuals in special education to provide an overview of special education teachers' training needs, guidance teachers, caregivers who have intellectually disabled children, or the person who takes care of the intellectually disabled individual. After completing the project's research phase, the Learning/Teaching Toolkit has been developed. Originally the partnership had to develop 2 training materials named a guide book for teachers and a supportive book for parents/caregivers. However, when the partnership compared the project's research phase's obtained results, the partner has decided to enlarge the training toolkit package to increase the target group's benefit by developing more supportive training materials. Despite its written application form, the partnership has developed 5 additional training materials under the Learning / Teaching Toolkit. These training materials are named Framework Programs for Trainers, Framework Program for Parents/Caregivers, Guide Book for Trainers, Activity Book for Trainers, Activity Book for Parents/Caregivers. In this context, the project's lead partner (General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services/TR) has made official studies to include framework training programs in the special education system to ensure sustainability. Thus, both framework programs prepared were approved by the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning and included in the formal education system. Both framework programs link; https://hbogm.meb.gov.tr/modulerprogramlar/ (Bakım Veren Kişilere Yönelik Zihinsel Engelli Bireyler İçin İhmal-İstismardan Korunma ve Mahremiyet Eğitimi and Eğiticilere Yönelik Zihinsel Engelli Bireyler İçin İhmal-İstismardan Korunma ve Mahremiyet Eğitimi). The partnership established an E-Learning platform to develop the professional skills and teaching methods related to sexuality education of the trainers through web-based distance education method, to improve the competence of the parents for the development of effective communication skills between the family and the child and to ensure that the information about the sexual education which was learned in the official learning environment by mentally disabled individuals and has been supported by knowledge by the family in the home environment. The E-learning platform has been integrated into mobile applications to enable the target groups to access information within the motto of any time and anywhere in line with technological changes for using the communication tools in education (https://www.desemproject.eu/e-learning-platform/) During the project lifecycle, the partnership engaged with many national and international organizations to increase the impact of the project on educational authorities and, of course, on society's lives, such as UNFPA, Hungary Education Ministry, universities, public schools, etc... The partnership was achieved more than exceptional results inline with the application form identified. Because each partner was ready to work on this area to support disabled individuals and the education system, they also worked in harmony to bring success to the partnership. At the beginning of the project, the partners were confused about society's prejudice and possible acts. However, the partners have agreed on the project topic's importance to support disadvantaged individuals through innovative approaches. So, It can say; another achievement of the project was a starting point to break the prejudice and use innovative approaches in the special education area.

The picture that emerges is that in a society in which space and time are revolutionized by ITC, still persist barriers that hinder the participation of adults in lifelong learning. In most cases, impediments are related to time constraints, family responsibilities, working time and increasingly hectic lifestyles. However, even economic constraints, belonging to ""vulnerable groups"" low self-esteem, poor awareness of their own abilities and potential and lack of basic digital knowledge can prevent people from participating in lifelong learning initiatives. Thanks to SITE project, the partners have:- identified small ""vulnerable"" groups of excluded or demotivated adults to participate in lifelong learning.- identified their training needs, in terms of key and transversal skills;- investigated and analyzed the obstacles and motivations that make the target groups excluded or not motivated with regard to lifelong learning,- shared and studied the best practices and innovative methods in terms of adult education (in particular the peer to peer approaches; learning by doing and the andragogical model).- have experimented training activities, using non-formal methods for small groups at local level;- built “training modules” and materials that can be easily reused in the future by themselves or by other organizations involved in adult education.SITE was the result of a collective effort, as the partnership is formed by organizations with characteristics and skills that complement and reinforce each other, as specified below.-Informamentis Europa: is an association aimed to encourage social development, culture and education of citizens, promoting studies, research, cultural exchanges, through EU programs, especially in the fields of education, vocational training, culture and youth.
