The partners of « the Good, the Youth and the Volunteer » project, all active in the field of international volunteering and users of the EVS programme, felt the need to reflect about their daily practice, to exchange, between experienced persons, on the mechanisms (good practices) to maintain, develop and adapt in order to guarantee the quality and the accessibility of international volunteering and thus the success of youth and social inclusion policies, especially for the young people with fewer opportunities. The impact study ordered by the European Commission and published in April 2017 highlighted in its conclusions the need to implement support actions in order to improve quality and accessibility of the programme. Our project provided answers to these needs. The project objectives were the following : - ensuring quality of the volunteering experiences for young people with fewer opportunities and especially in the search for a balance between social impact and the learning dimension. - gathering experienced coordinators to reflect together on identifying good and less good practices of the field - offering the adapted framework to exchange in depth and to capitalize on our mutual experiences - experimenting new methodologies to work with young people with fewer opportunities, identified within the consortium and developed and adapted during the project - succeeding in transferring good practices to a new context or target group - involving volunteers, interested youth, ex-volunteers in the reflection for a better adequation to their needs - being able to measure the efficiency of the support and the impact of international volunteering on the participants, the organisations and the local community - presenting the fruit of these exchanges to the public and especially the key stakeholders related to international volunteering, in order to disseminate as largely as possible the best practices and favour an increase in the support of public authorities To do so, we produced a booklet of good practices and a Quality Charter compiling all our resources on the topic. These documents were created by the consortium following a process of : research, experimentation, capitalisation and dissemination. The cycle included job shadowing mobilities for volunteering coordinators and a final seminar to exchange, share and disseminate towards volunteers, tutors, mentors, key stakeholders and institutional partners.

Europe is in a time of profound transformation. As a consequence, divisions in society are growing, including stereotyping and criticism of minorities or those who are perceived being different. Women’s rights and the advances towards gender equality are under threat. Adult educators and staff of educational organisations need to be proactive and to respond appropriately when these issues arise both in the physical and online learning and environment and in learning materials. This applies to certain contents, but also to the handling of situations in which, for example, feelings of uncertainty or powerlessness may arise. This project aims to improve this situation by supporting and enhancing educational practice that explores gender equality in a clear, peaceful, and democracy-sensitive manner. This will be achieved in two ways: By empowering women and men to explore and express their perspectives, perceptions, questions, and hopes resulting in a series of stories that can be widely used. By developing a Guide to Making the Case for Gender Equality. The stories and guide will be developed during two 5 day exchanges of good practice, designed to enhance educators’ skills in working with disadvantaged learners in the area of civic education. Direct online and offline activities will bring learners from partner organisations in five European countries together to test the educators’ methods, and increase their skills and knowledge in civic education, critical thinking, and intercultural dialogue. They will also experience what is possible through participating in a European project and build relationships that will endure beyond the project. All outcomes will be documented on the project's website, thus widely accessible.Ongoing monitoring and evaluation activities will ensure high-quality results. It is expected that the non-formal methods will be applied in the participating institutions and beyond at the local and regional levels and in the case of some institutions at national and international levels. It is also expected that the Making the Case for Gender Equality Guide will attract broad interest. Educators and project managers will increase their European networks. Learners will be confident in participating in community and public discourse on this issue. They will be motivated to engage in the struggle for gender equality, democracy, and human rights even in times of crisis.

"European mobility projects can be powerful tools for inclusion, empowerment and growth of young people with fewer opportunities. To maximise their potential, youth workers need to rethink how these projects are thought, designed, prepared and implemented.Through “Kiwipedia - Collaborative Process for Inclusion”, 6 European Organisations and their 6 associated local partners plan to work together to have a better common understanding of needs of young people with fewer opportunities, to develop a higher level of cooperation between different fields of youth work (local, international) and to develop mobility programs with young people, instead of for young people. The main aim of the project is to foster inclusion of young people through youth mobility. Our three specific objectives are:strengthening trans-sectoral cooperation in youth work through an international network for sharing good practicesTo empower young people and to raise youth workers competences To design and evaluate quality bottom-up projects for short-term international mobilitiesWhy did we name our project « Kiwipedia » ?Kiwi is a name for both an animal and a fruit, for us it represents the different approaches and fields of youth work, but also our wish to take the environmental dimension into consideration in our mobility projects.Kiwipedia is then of course a wink to the Wikipedia platform, for its collaborative educational process and open purpose, both are principles we wish to apply in this project. The project will involve :- 9 youth workers in charge of European youth mobility projects, - 6 youth workers working with young people on a daily basis, - 6 youth leaders, - 6 local groups of young people with fewer opportunities. The main activities of the project will consist in long-term local cooperation between youth workers in charge of European youth mobility, local educators and youth leaders, through 2 international training courses involving all the participants and 3 transnational meetings between project coordinators. All the activities will be based on principles and methodologies of non formal education. The main results of the project will be - a diagnostic of the main obstacles for young people to access to international mobility projects - a collection of good practices to promote inclusion in mobility projects (tools, strategies, tips)- a video-tutorial to support local educational centres in designing, preparing, implementing and evaluating a European youth mobility - a description of the successful short-term projects implemented within this consortiumA study on the impact of ""Kiwipedia"" on the inclusion through international mobility is included in the project and this process will be supported by an external expert.“Kiwipedia” project will foster, on a long-term perspective, the development of a bottom-up process in European youth mobility projects, it will provide a higher level of inclusion in youth work and raise the level of ownership of those projects for young people with fewer opportunities."

The project Circle of Competences for Community Work with adults was focused on development of basic skills and key competences in adult learners, through a system of actions which started from assessing learning needs of partner organisations staff and learners, then improving Educators competences and trough them reach adult learners with fewer opportunities in the 4 countries of the partnership (Italy, France, Slovenia, Portugal). 23 Educators active in Adult Education (from 4 different countries, and with different professional profiles ) were engaged in an international training course collecting and sharing good practices and tools to facilitate and recognise their learners achievements (E- portfolio) and to engage learners with fewer opportunities (Popular Education tecniques). They tested and experienced themselves those tools as well as share with colleagues from different countries. As a second step, the same Educators tested and applied the gained methods in their own countries with a group of 300 local learners with different difficulties in education and inclusion in society and job market ( adults with migrant background, asylum seekers, unemployed adults with unstable/poor educational paths ) trough workshops run at local level whose content and methods will be defined in details during the project. The workshops aimed to engage adult learners at local level, motivate them to participate to further learning experiences and to make easier the recognition of their experience acquired trough non formal and informal learning. To reach these aims we used E-portfolio and Popular Education tecniques and methods. The partnership worked on the fine-tuning of the tools used and tested during the project in order to make them accessible to a larger audience of educators and adult learners.
