CONTEXTA 2014 study by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights found that gender and sexual violence is identified as a major problem across Europe. The study says: one in three women has experienced some form of physical and / or sexual violence since the age of 15. The struggle to end violence against women and education in sexual and emotional life is therefore an urgent European issue. Such violence is further aggravated among women who face other types of discrimination such as racism, xenophobia or discrimination based on one’s social status. It is therefore important to combine the struggles to prevent - as well as to remedy the damage already caused by - violence against women with those to prevent other forms of discrimination. In Europe, education on sexual and emotional life struggles to take place, and its limited implementation does not suffice to address the numerous questions raised (only a few hours over the course of school year, with a whole class, girls and boys unseparated). Women’s rights associations have stood for such a right, and in recent years the Internet has seen the birth of dozens of accounts on Instagram, Youtube, and Spotify that address questions of intimacy and sexuality. Young people seem to be very interested in these subjects - which are among the important factors in happiness and well-being - and want to learn more. They want to enrich the media landscape, hear other voices, other types of experiences which better represent them, which have things in common with their own stories.OBJECTIVESThe project proposes new tools, based on radio and podcast for youth and youth workers to tackle issues of intimacy and sexuality. Through the proposed activities, young people develop resources to express themselves on these topics in the media (radio) and public sphere (during presentations, artistic events). By the same token, we want to encourage the emergence of content on intimacy and sexuality created by and disseminated among young people, having as common values:- equality between women, gender minorities and men-the fight against sexual and gender-based violence-the fight against discrimination, in particular racism, homophobia, and discrimination on the grounds of social status.- Understanding sexuality through dialogue based on the sharing of intimate experiences, collective discussions, personal development and the knowledge of experts will allow young people to “get their messages across” and enrich the media landscape on issues related to intimacy and sexuality.ACTIVITIES & IMPACTSWe will create and test our methodologies during co-construction workshops with young people. The educational material developed will be:IO1 - Toolkit “Introduction to radio communication.” This online guide will offer activities to learn about radio communication and collectively create a radio show.
