Practical courses are essential components of the Bèta- and Life Sciences educational programs. Courses in which students merely follow protocols (i.e. “Cook Book” practicals) have proven to be very successful in teaching technical skills, however these types of practicals contribute little to understanding the Nature of Science (NOS). In this project we develop a workflow process that focusses on the development of the experimental design. Students design their own experiment, guided by automated feedback that is provided by online tools and 360o laboratory videos. The produced experimental designs are subsequently peer-reviewed by fellow students and presented to teachers.
